    May Bandsters Update

Hi all you May Bandsters Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing. We are all either 1 to 2 months into the process depending on your date, and I just wanted to compare notes. I was banded on May 24th and lost 13 in the first week, mostly water I think and due to the liquid diet. I had my first fill on June 23 and lost another 3 pounds again I think due to the liquid and mushy diet, and the fact that I had just started my period and I always lose a few pounds right after it starts, but since then NOTHING! I can't decide if my band is too tight, or not tight enough. One one hand I can't eat very much at all at one time, on the other, I VERY hungry only two hours after I eat. So what do you guys think? Also, my doctor recommends getting fills every 2 weeks for the first 3 fills, and I'm seeing here that most people are getting fills once a month in the beginning. Please give me your thoughts and feedback! Thanks!

    May Bandsters Update

Thanks for all the feedback - it's really nice to compare to how people are doing when we are all at about the same stage! I feel encouraged and energized!
  8. Hi May Bandsters - Okay, so now it's July and we've all been banded for either a month or a month and a half, depending on your date. How is everyone doing? I've only lost 17 lbs since the surgery and most of that was in the first week. I had my first fill on 6/23 and lost 3 lbs immediately after that, but I think that was most due to being on liquids and mushies for two days afterward, and the fact that I had just started my period and I always lose a few pounds after I finally start. I haven't lost anything since that and I feel like I barely eat anything! So....I can't decide whether my band is too full, or not full enough. On one hand I can eat very little at one time, but on the other, I get VERY hungry after only two hours. What do you guys think? My doctor recommends getting a fill every 2 weeks for the first 3 fills, but I'm reading here that most people get fills only once a month in the beginning. I know this was a lot of questions, but I'd love to have everyone's input and opinions! Thanks!
  9. I'm turning 50 in August, married 25 years in September and have a 19 yo daughter and 14 yo son. Have tried loosing weight three previous time (Jenny Craig, Hypnosis and finally a medically supervised program at Camino Medical Group. In each case lost about 55 pounds and then eventually grain it all back. Hoping this will finally the thing that will stop me from regaining after I lose!

  10. Hi - I was banded on May 24th, 2011 and have already had one fill. I have a few questions about how they work: 1. Does the fill make your pouch smaller (so you feel full with less food) or does it make the hole smaller so that it takes longer for the food to move from you pouch to the rest of your stomach? 2. Right now, a week after my first fill, I definitely eat less at one sitting, but I don't feel satisfied and I'm hungry 2 hours later. I may be stopping myself from getting to the completely satisfied stage because a few times, when I thought I was eating to the "satisfied" level, (not the over-satisfied, stuffed feeling) I had pain in my chest which only started about 1/2 hour after I stopped eating and lasted for about 45 minutes to an hour. 3. My doctor wants me to come in for a fill every two weeks in the beginning and that seems excessive. I thought you were supposed to wait a month before fills to let things settle and give you time to figure out what "spot" you're at. What were your experiences in first few fills, how you felt, how it worked for you and especially how often you had to get a fill in the very beginning of this process. Thanks so much for any comments or advice you can give!
  11. I too was banded on May24th and am feeling and progressing just like you. My diet has followed the same progession as well. I figure if the band allows it, we're not feeling any restrictions and no pain, then we're doing the right things, right?
  12. Hi everyone - I'm new to this forum and to the whole bandster experience. Had my surgery exactly a week ago today, and for the most part am doing okay. Woke up today with diarrhea and upset stomach for no reason. Anyone have any ideas why this happened after feeling fine for a week?

    Any May 2011 Banders?

Hi - I was banded on May 24th - exactly 1 week ago today. Doing really well, have started yogurts and puddings because I was so hungry. Haven't done much exercise yet - waiting to get back more energy.
