Acid Reflux/heartburn - Possible Slip?
jenn875 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a doctor appointment later this week but I was curious in the meantime. For the last week, I've had either acid reflux or heartburn. A few days were pretty bad and others were mild. I'm nervous I've had a slip of the band. I'm not sure how common this is and I don't think I have any bad habits that would cause the band to slip. Anyone in or has been in a similiar situation - did you have a slip or did you have acid reflux without a slip? -
I feel like my band is slightly too full. My last fill was .5 cc's. I barely had restriction prior to that fill but now I feel like I may be too tight. I can barely get all my Protein down, let alone any veggies or fruit. I've slow down my eating dramatically and take very small bites. My doctor is going to take a little Fluid out of my band this week. I'm curious is anyone had a a fill or unfill of less than .5 cc's and if so, did you notice a difference? I feel like I am just the slightest bit too full and am curious if others felt this.

I would love to get an idea of what other people are eating and what helps you be successful. What do you eat on a typical day?

...but I can't tell if I need a slight unfill or if this is just how it should be? I had a fill on April 23rd and I have been loosing weight since then. My appetite is definitely decreased and I fill full but sometimes it is after only a few bites. Other times, I can eat my Protein, veggies, and even a little of my carbs. I will often get a stuck feeling, although be it minor. I thought in the beginning it was because I was eating too fast or having too big of a bite. However, I would say I end up spitting up some of the food at least four days out of the week. I know I need to measure my protein better and I will start that this week. I've been on vacation this week and eating out every meal has been very difficult. I seem to do better during the week when I have a routine. Any tips for telling whether it is my eating habits that are causing the issues or if the band really is too full?

Port Lflipped Twice!!
jenn875 replied to EwaBeachRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one port flip about a month and a half after surgery. My doctor said that he was seeing more and more of one specific type of port flipping. Something to do with how it attached to your muscle. Maybe that could be it? -
Thanks! My gut tells me it is more of how I am eating rather than being too full.

Does getting stuck result from not chewing well enough/type of food or does it mean you have too much Fluid in the band? I'm 3 months post off but had a flipped port that was just corrected...so really I feel like I'm starting from the beginning. I'm trying my best to remember all the rules of chewing, not drinking, etc. I recently had a fill and have noticed a get a little stuck sometimes. I think it's because I'm not chewing well enough or eating too fast...but does it mean that there is too much fluid in the band too? This is the first time I've felt anything close to restriction and I just want to make sure that the band is too full. Thanks!

** 3 months post op, that is.

I went in for my 2nd fill today and found that my port flipped. My doctor is finding that quite a few people with the type of port applier used in my sugergy are experiencing flip ports fairly recently after surgery. They stopped using this type about a month ago but I am one of the unfortunately ones that now have a flipped port. For those of you that had a flipped port, what was your experience like in having this corrected. I understand mine will be outpatient surgery. I'm curious if they have to remove any Fluid from the band or if they could actually put more in while they are putting in the new port. I would love to have a fill when they put the port in - at least I would be that much closer to having restriction!
-
I'm in the same boat as you. Banded Dec. '11. My doctor is saying the same thing about seeing more port flips so I would bet the same type of ports were used on both of us. Very frustrating
-
I was banded in Dec. '11 and I have a flipped port. My doctor stated that they found a higher percentage of people having flipped ports with the particular type port used in my surgery..so they stopped using it...of course, a month after I had my surgery I should have my surgery to fix the port within a month or so.
-
I don't know that I really felt anything that would indicate it had flipped. I sleep on my right side and sometimes at night when I rolled over, I "thought" I felt the port but was not really sure. Some people I spoke too said they never feel their port and others do. My doctor is going to do an xray next week to confirm it flipped and then outpatient surgery if it has. I'm not nervous about the surgery - just frustrated that I will have to wait several weeks to have it done and then possibly wait for a fill. I'm ready to start really using my band!

Two And A Half Weeks Out of Lap Band Surgery And A New Pain Started?
jenn875 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had very little pain with my lapband in the beginning. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery and I just started having pain about where my port would be. It's almost like a burning pain sometimes. Any idea what this could be or is this something common? I'll probably give it another day or so and call my doctor before the holiday if it doesn't stop. -
Day 3 After Lap Band Surgery: Nausea?
jenn875 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today was the first day I had experiencd nausa. I was fine in the hospital but once I got home and took a Percocet, I started to feel it. My last Percocet was 15 hours ago but I'm still experiencing waves of nausea. Is this normal? Any tricks for making it go away? -
