Austin Area Bandsters Intersted in Support Group ?
Carly246 replied to coltonwade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I'm in Cedar Park and would love to meet up. I'm afraid I'm part of the 10% that lap band doesn't work for or hasn't worked for but I'd love to find support and a ways to help lose weight. Also, would love to find a new doctor. -

PLEASE HELP, over 1 month POST fill and suddenly sick....
Carly246 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sick as meaning, I can't eat and in SEVERE PAIN when I eat a couple of bites. When I do I can only eat a very small amount and have been becoming sick, not vomiting but SEVERE chest pain, CONSTANT burping and a couple of times have thrown up mucus. I asked a question about what zone do you think I'm in about a week ago b/c that is when everything started happening but in the past couple of days, its gotten really bad. I have an appt. tomorrow and have to go for a barium test first (yay) but know someone here must have been through this before. You would think it was a band that was too tight but how can that happen so far from a fill and happen pretty suddenly after all was fine for almost a month? I wouldn't say great b/c it has been hurting to eat at most times during the last 2 plus weeks. Does it sound like something more serious than just an unfill? If that was the case, wouldn't I of had problems long before now? TIA! Hoping someone has an idea of what might be going on. Banded 6-7-11 and last fill was about 1.5 months ago. Start weight 243 and now 215. -
Anyone want to help me what Zone I might be in? I'm confused. 1-discomfort when eating 75% of the time. 2-still hungry so choose wrong foods to eat to fill me up, ice cream, Snacks, etc. this is where I get confused 3-only have spit up (sorry, gross) Water mucousy stuff once since banded in June AND 4-have only loss 28 lbs total since banded in June (start was 243 and now 215). Seem to be stuck and not loosing any more weight! I can eat but it takes me about 45 minutes to eat a meal. I feel hungry and I can eat but it takes me a long time and I think sometimes I might not be banded enough b/c of not loosing any more weight but it usually hurts to eat. So where am I???? I am still hungry after some meals so I will eat bad foods for me, ice cream or milk and Cookies. Being honest here. lol I definately couldn't imagine getting a fill since it hurts so much to eat now but I'm not loosing weight either. Thanks and thanks for posting the chart Alex!

OMG, can you overdose on protein drinks?
Carly246 replied to Carly246's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for posting Vicki! LOL at "NUT"! -
Newbie here. Had my surgery June 7th. When do you get your first fill? When they put the band in, the band is not filled at all, correct? So, your pouch goes from normal, to very small, to even smaller after your first fill? Thanks!

Carly246 replied to Carly246's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So the protein would just come out in your urine? I was just reading it might turns to fat. Nice! I wish they had pointed this out to us b/c all I heard was 4 shakes a day and Unsure was ok and I could add skim milk. -

Most days, I have been drinking the Unsure recommended 4 a day which the Protein drink should be anywhere from 15-20g) BUT adding in milk is another 8 so 28X4=112 I've also been drinking the 15 gram Atkins here and there but MOSTLY Unsure with milk for three weeks? Anyone know the answer to this? I'm surprised no one pointed this out to me during the process. GOAL is 60-80 g of protein a day but I wasn't adding in the protein from the milk. HELP! TIA! -

Carly246 replied to Marcib's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was hungrier today so I "slipped" and had a few cheez its and a serving of grits (only 100) calories. I counted calories and it was still only 800. I mean, please, we can't starve! I had my GRITS!!!!! Oh, I'm 4 days post op. -

I'm right there with you! I'm only 4 days post op and I'm hungry! I would love to eat a piece of pizza right now! LOL I'm only on liquids but I picked up some different flavored non fat yogurts to help get me through. I was wondering if we could eat oatmeal or grits at this stage. I know you aren't suppose to but I don't see why not. Is it that it might irritate the surgery area or that it might make the pouch stretch out? All I'm asking for is some GRITS! Can you tell I'm hungry now?!!! -
How soon after surgery can you travel? m
Carly246 replied to Carly246's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry just getting back to you but I just had my surgery today! We are flying and the doctor said it would be ok at 3 weeks out. Keeping my fingers crossed that he is going to be right! Thanks for replying!
