I was banded June 8th 2011 - It is a surprisingly EASY process - the liquid diet did not bother me at all after the first couple of days - Probably because I was so EXCITED to finally be on the way to a new life - I have wanted this for so long I never cheated on the liquid diet or any of the rules after surgery - I am currently on muhies (soft foods) and try other solids as I feel I can do (per my doc) I am eating about 500-600 calories a day and NOT hungry, eat my protein first always -I am sure as I get closer to my first fill date that will change however again I have wanted this for so long I do not want to do anything I should not - Hopefully this will all continue long term~I am a newbie and no expert but feel free to contact me anytime with questions - also support

I love Water aerobics 9I just LOVE the water) It is a great work out - If you have an instructor that is good you will get a heck of a work out~ They even use water weights - I have had back surgery and arthritis in my hips - Water actually will make the pain go away~ So I would say GO FOR IT~ OHHHH And it is FUN

Forums are good and not so good
Debora Anne replied to Marcib's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I researched the lap band for 2 years before taking the big step - while researching I also had the opportunity to watch several people (freinds and co-workers) got thru the process ALL have been successful - some with bad episodes but when I speak with them they admit it was a poor food choice or lack of excercise for the most part as to why something did or did not happen that they experienced. Reading the positive posts keep me motivated and encouraged! - the bad ones I use as a WARNING- it helps me to stay on track and make sure I do all the right things to avoid the bad- You need to also remember although some of the bad stories are not the fault of the banded person - In my opionion when you read deeper into some of the bad you will notice the bad things occur because of poor choices on the banded person's part Sorry if I hurt anyones feelings just my 2 cents for whatever it is worth -
I was wondering the same thing I am 2 weeks post op and excercise daily and my calorie intake is around 500 -550 per day-- i do feel full when I eat - trying to stick to mushie solids with high protein. Is this going to cause me to stop losing weight?

How long did you take off from work after your surgery??
Debora Anne replied to 3musketeers's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everybody heals differently but I would say if he did the surgery Thursday you could go to work Monday - I have 3 employees that were banded within the last 2 years and they did the same thing - surgery thursday then long weekend -- I work from home, if I am not traveling and was able to work at my home office Friday (of course be careful with responding to emails and phone with pain meds could be an issue -

Breakfast problem
Debora Anne replied to Freddy Henin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes I skip breakfast if I am not hungry - When I am on the go I will whip up a choc protein shake with half of a small banana or a yogurt adn half a banana (you can eat these if you are in aa rush since they are :sliders: and you have less of a chance of sliming and/or vomit -
