Has anyone been unable to do just liquids in week 1?
Debora Anne replied to mishell1002's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes we have all had the hungers after surgery I am not a doctor, however if you are suppose to be on clear liguids you want to stick to the doctor instructions, You need to heal and the staples and the band need time to adjust. You do not want to hinder the healing process - drink extra clear liquids and lots of water or crystal lite - Kool aid has some great sugar free flavor drinks as well - Jello is good Good luck -
Had post Lap Band op appointment today
Debora Anne replied to Tabby Ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome - we all get busy and dont seem to post as often as we want You may have gotten shaky due to the heat and possibly low blood sugar - If you did not eat much and even though you were drinking fluids you can lower your blood sugar as well as get dehydrated due to the humidity - sweating you need to drink even more -
Congrats -- have an awesome recovery

Debora Anne replied to LibraJennifer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Flying is not an issue - I fly every week for work (on 4 planes minimum each week) and have no problems - I have heard you can get a little tight when get int he air and when land ev erything goes to normal however I have never experienced tightness when flying Have fun on your trip -- just be careful of alchol low calories and flying make you super tipsy -

I am not a doctor so you do need to check with your surgeon however a HIGH A1C should nto delay surgery- I was /am a Diabetic with an AIC of 8.5 ON AVERAGE- As of 2 weeks prior to my surgery I have not taken any Diabeties meds at all~ I cant wait till Aug 1 when he drwas blood work again-- I am confident my A1C will be just right-- I heard lapbands do wonders for Diabetics and it sure does~

Cheese sticks are a good source of protein
-
I try and avoid protein bars due to the amount of carbs and sugar- however Muscle Milk lite and Adkins seem to be good with lower carb and sugar content

Question- Should banded people add additional Fiber to theor diets such as Benefiber? Do these supplements keep you full longer? And if you have no "potty" issues should you still take fiber? Where do ya'all get your fiber from?

Just got a date ! So excited !
Debora Anne replied to S2b's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will do great- my doctor also sells shakes-- they are a little pricey...but ones I actually enjoy, so I continue to get them thru his office. Depending on your job will depend on your time off needed. If it is a desk job you would not need 2 weeks for sure, i had surgery on a Wed - worked from home Friday and was traveling (by plane and car) on the following Wed Good luck and keep us posted -
Everyone has doubt's that is normal but you will be so pleased when it is over and your cravings will slowly go away I am 7 weeks post op and just wish I had done this YEARS AGO
-
Thanks for the responses everyone~ ! Based on all above I am good to go (No pun intented)

Has anyone kept their lap band a secret?
Debora Anne replied to amber22's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That is exactly what happened to me! I told one co-worker (she had the band put in 2years ago) and boom she told EVERYONE But no big deal she was excited for me and all but one person is supportive and have been great -
