I was told "no carbinated drinks....ever again", but have taken a sip of my husband's beer on three separate occasions. Any sleevers out there who can actually drink 12oz of beer on tap? I'm just curious.

10 days post surgery I had coffee. I couldnt stand it. No problems. Today is my one year sleeviversary. Down 55 lbs and 5 to go.

Dr. Kelly Preop Diet Ideas?
CoffeeBean replied to mrsteacher's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
7 days before surgery with Dr. Kelly in TJ I ate protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then protein and a salad for dinner. Three days before surgery I had jello, broth, fruit juice (all clear liquids). Had no problems whatsoever, but my BMI was 35 -
My hair started falling out at 3 months. I'm now 6.5 months post surgery and it's still falling out. Have heard from others that is stops around 7 months. I hope so. I feel I've lost 25-35%. Fortunately I have very thick hair and noone has noticed except me. I'm grateful it is temporary.

What Did You Tell Your Friends?
CoffeeBean replied to Ms. Scarlett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started dieting a month before surgery so I was already losing weight. I had the surgery on Thursday and was back at work on Tuesday morning. Only missed one day of my morning walk with my friend. I have been exercising 5+ days a week. Nobody suspects I had surgery. Only my huband, and a few close relatives know about my surgery. I'm not going to tell anyone. I will just continue to eat right and exercise as not to gain the weight back. Surgery is the best thing I ever did for myself. I won't be judged or hear jealous comments if nobody knows. I personally like it this way. I'm glad I have a choice to tell or not to tell. Good for those of you who want to tell. -
3 1/2 Weeks Out And Stalled Again
CoffeeBean replied to lovePINK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had many stalls in the past 6 months. They always pass and I suddenly lose 3 or 4 pounds. Be sure to eat a variety of foods and not the same thing day after day. -
I'm 50 years old and almost 6 months post surgery. Been losing more hair than normal for about 2 months which was to be expected. When does the hair loss slow down? I hope soon.

I feel like a kitchen sink. When I eat any solid, I gurgle for about 10-15 minutes after. Anyone experience this? I'm 6 weeks post-op. When might this little inconvenience stop? It's so loud. I hope I'm never in a quiet room with my co-workers after I eat. I STILL LOVE MY SLEEVE!

Struggling with those last few lbs.
CoffeeBean replied to bookleen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Be sure to eat a HUGE variety of foods. Your body gets used to the same old thing. I can get in a rut of eating the same thing every day because it's convenient, but I know the weight will continue to come off if I consistantly introduce new food items. -
Pre-op diet....how long did you...
CoffeeBean replied to Boredwithlife's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
I only dieted for 7 days. 4 days if protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then protein & veggies for dinner. Then 3 days of clear liquids. The clear liquids were the hardest part. I ate a lot of finger jello made with SF jello mixed with half water and half grape juice. -

Alchoholic Beverages
CoffeeBean replied to snoozeyoulose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Snoozy, I was sleeved Sept 1st and at 8 weeks out I had a 1/2 glass of wine. It took me three hours to finish it. It didn't feel as good as I hoped. I'll try again at Thanksgiving when I'm 12 weeks out. Lots of sleevers can have beer but they say it takes a while to finish one. -

CoffeeBean replied to 04kids's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My BMI was 35 and I had 60lbs to lose. No problems with approval and no problems while I was there. I love Dr. Kelly. I used "A Lighter Me". -
Skinny girl issues...WTH!!!!!
CoffeeBean replied to luvinitcuzican's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Luvin, People wouldn't be so jealous if you weren't so cute. Hold your head high and try to let it roll off your back. I think we just have to take it in stride and be grateful we are not the ones green with envy. -
Another bump in the road
CoffeeBean replied to peacequeen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Peacequeen, I feel so bad for you. You've waited so long already. Hang in there. I didn't qualify to have surgery in the states, so I went to Dr. Kelly in TJ Mexico. I'm so gratefull to even have that option. I'll be praying for you and your decision makers. -

Anyone Ever Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery In Mexico?
CoffeeBean replied to noeandyvetter's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went through "A Lighter Me" and my surgeon was Dr. Kelly. Cost was $5560 plus airfare. Best thing I ever did for myself. Post surgery has been a breeze for me. Sometimes I miss the large quantities of food I used to eat, but I then look at all the size 20 pants I no longer fit into and smile. It feels so good to "not be hungry". I have had a hard time keeping up my daily calorie count. It takes work to get the calories up to 600-700. I know I should be having around 1000 but just can't squeeze it in yet. I love my sleeve! -

How long does the surgery take?
CoffeeBean replied to tlong's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery lasted 38 minutes. I was very healthy except for my extra 60lbs. Surgery was Thursday afternoon. I spent two nights in the hospital and two nights at the Lucerna hotel in TJ Mexico. I walked about 1.5 miles on day 3 and 4. Dr Kelly wants his patients to stick around 4-5 days after surgery to make sure all is well before heading home. -
Dr. Kelly patients: anyone willing to talk to my husband about your experience?
CoffeeBean replied to Brittanysiemens's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Dr Kelly was my surgeon on Sept 1st. Not one problem. He's a class act. I completely trust him. My husband trusted me to do my homework and I did. LOVE MY SLEEVE! -
How many people have you've told about your sleeve?
CoffeeBean replied to Maddy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only my husband, parents, sis and bro-in-law know. I don't plan on telling anyone else. I've been dieting since August 1st and had surgery Sept 1st. People at work notice me drinking protein shakes and losing weight. I told them I'm doing the high protein and low carb thing. Nobody suspects WLS and I'll keep it that way. It's nobody's business. I excercise hard and eat less. That's all they need to know. I'm just not going to open up that can at work. I would regret it.
