Just wondering if any of you had him as your surgeon? I have read lots of great things about him. I have my first appt. with him on July 14th (nervous) If anyone wants to share any experiences with me, or give me advice about the process with him that would be awesome!

I am just starting this whole process. I called the insurance Co. and they sent me a list of requirements they need before approval. One of them is *Documentation from multidisciplinary non surgical weight loss program with unsuccessful weight loss or weight loss followed by weight gain* They don't say for how long? I have been on a million diets, just none of them have been supervised. Does this mean I have to do the supervised diet thing? Already getting frustrated and I have just started!

All I can say is WTG on losing that much weight on your own!! You should be very proud of yourself. I'm going in for my first consult on July 14th. Good luck with everything.

I Have PCIP-ca it's the new pre-existing insurance plan through the govt. Many people don't know about it, it's pretty new. I got turned down for insurance for a pre-existing condition so I applied for this and I got it. The premiums are kinda high, but they cover WLS! I'm crossing my fingers (and my toes) that I have the same experience as you and don't have to do a diet. I just want to move on with my life!

Hi, this is my first post! I have a consultation on July 14th with a doctor in southern ca. about four hours away. My concerns are I don't want to drive down there (268 miles!) a lot. The office said I would come for the initial consult and then come down for my pre-op and surgery the next day, that's it. I'm wondering if I do all my testing (not sure what it's going to be) here? I don't want to get down there, get committed and discover I have to do all the testing down there. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this and were able to do all the pre-op stuff in their hometown?

Thanks for sharing your experience. My doctor was originally about 2 hours away. (Ara Keshishian) I found out that he no longer does surgery at that hospital, only in Glendale. So I guess I get to travel....hopefully not too much though!
