  1. I have been struggling a lot in the last year and decided this is the best place to start for advice. I had sleeve done in August 2009 and have lost 60 pounds down to 170 pounds. I have seen a little of an increase over the last couple of months and know that I have not done my best for diet and exercise. I have been going through a tough divorce since September 2009 and was able to lose most of the weight without diet and exercise. Because it came off so easy, I never really developed an exercise routine or high Protein diet. So needless to say, here I am at 2 years post-op and need to get back on track. My goal weight is 150-155. I need advice on what people who have had procedure 1-4 years ago are eating and doing for exercise. I find that I am addicted to Starbucks and will find that some days I am still finishing my drink 6 hours after purchase which leaves little time for Water. I also eat carbs or don't eat at all. I am a mess. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance. Mississippi girl in Florida

2 years post op and need advice

Lily, What is the 5 day pouch test? Haven't done it but haven't heard of it. Very interested, Deanna
  3. I have been having a sore throat for several weeks. I have run out of Nexium and my insurance doesn't cover it. I have been taking OTC Priolsec occasionally. I never had heartburn or reflux prior to surgery. I really don't have any somach issues or stuff coming up in my throat. Just the sore throat. Any suggestions or anyone experiencing the same issue? My surgery was July 25th with Dr. Aceves. I have lost 55 pounds (still not exercising but will definately be adding that soon). Deanna
  4. Have anyone experienced a lack of interest in eatting? I am at week 5 post op and really don't have a desire to eat. I would be happy to live off homemade protein shakes. I am still sticking with soups. I have experimented a little with fish, eggs, etc but don't like the feeling of food being lodged in my chest. Any suggestions? Anyone with similar feelings? Is this healthy? Thanks, Deanna:confused: (though this is a nice turn around from pre-surgery days):001_cool:
  5. Can you post the receipe for the ahi tuna paste. I am several weeks away from mushies but love ahi tuna. Thanks, Deanna
  6. I have a date with Dr. Aceves on July 25th.:laugh0: Anyone else going to be there??? I will be flying down on July 24th. Hoping I won't be there alone. :svengo: Deanna
  7. I am preparing for July 25th surgery and have a few questions: 1.) How much should I expect to pay for prescriptions in Mexico? 2.) How much do I need to anticipate for food at resort prior to surgery and food for my mom at the hospital? (meal suggestions?) 3.) Did anyone have trouble bringing the prescriptions back across the border? 4.) My flight out is at 12:30 p.m. I know that the instructions say to schedule closer to 1:00. Did anyone have problems making their flights? 5.) Any must haves that I should bring to Mexico? Can you tell I am a teacher and like to cover my bases? Thanks for all your help. Any other information/advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Deanna Mississippi Girl in Florida

    passports

Did you get a passport in time? I am in the same situation. I have applied with expediated service. I am scheduled for surgery July 25th and need to schedule airline tickets. I am just concerned that I won't get it in time. Did you receive yours??????
  9. I am new and am looking to getting sleeved by Dr. Aceves on July 25th. I talked to my local pcp who was concerned about who I would be able to see locally in Daytona Beach, Florida area for any follow up care or concerns. She knew that the Dr. Sebastian (local bariatric surgeon in DB) does not see patients who have had procedures in Mexico. Does anyone know of a doctor in Daytona Beach or Jacksonville who doesn't mind seeing us who have been sleeved in Mexico? Also, I am very nervous as my pcp and several friends have said "for that money you should just hire a personal trainer and get fit". This has really bummed me out. I am excited about seeing the results of the sleeve and having the restrictions from it. I have been overweight always but more than 60 pounds following 2004 when I had my third child (13 months from my second child--oops). As I live so far from Mexico, I would like to have a doctor who would see me if I get dehydrated or something else. My doctor did prescribe hypothyroid meds today as she stated that my lab results show low to normal results. Will this effect my surgery success?:confused1: I just need a pep talk from others who are in my shoes. I really want the surgery and the success!! I would also be interested to get to know others who will be going to Dr. Aceves July 24th. Thanks for listening. Deanna
  10. Susan, I just emailed you on your gmail account. I live in Palm Coast Florida. I am looking to have my sleeve done in July by Dr. Aceveres (SP) in Mexico. I am also looking for a local doctor that I could follow up with if I have any problems. Do you know if Dr. Herrera (who did your lap band) sees people who have had procedures done in Mexico?

Also, I was wondering if you have needed medical attention since your procedure? I need to lose 70-80 lbs but am getting negative feedback from my friends and pcp. They think I just need to hire a trainer. Any words of advice or support would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Deanna K.
