Like most everyone else I've been overweight most all my life. I had been sitting on the Lap band surgery fence for some time. I was finally pushed off it when my uncle died. His funeral was a huge eye opening experience for me. I sat around and looked at my family. I'd say a good 85% of them are very overweight and with serious health issues. As for health history, you name it, we've got it. The only thing we don't have is good health. I'm 40 now and the realization that a lot of my family that has passed on were not old. Kind of freaked me out. That was that. My mind was made up. Luckily my family doctor and parents are 100% behind me. Although I have opted not to tell many family/friends about the surgery. I really didn't want to be judged or have their opinions thrown on me.
My whole reason for having the surgery is not to be skinny. I've never hated my body. I don't dislike myself. My reason is for health concerns only. This is a new beginning for me. A road I will be on for the rest of my life. The rest of my long life that is.
