Ugh protein is hard to do
DrmBig4Evr replied to bringiton's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 days and experiencing the same thing, would rather make sure I'm hydrated and I don't overdo it, but I am trying my best and that is all I can do. I will be picking up some Isopure and mixing it with Gatorade this weekend! -
I use the same as ChiTownGirl

Things Are Starting To Get Real
DrmBig4Evr replied to bankladyt's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did the same thing you did in January and I am 4 days post op and I've made the best decision I could. Absolutely no regrets! -
I'd talk to the patient advocate at your surgeons office or whomever is handling your approval. You can fight it and might be worth it. I tried to fight it but it didn't work so when I landed a job with better insurance I tried again with the same letter and diagnosis and I was approved. My thought would be to sit down with the insurance coordinator or whomever is working on the approval for you and put together an appeal package. It can't hurt.

Congrats! So exciting for you to imagine a whole new life!

March Sleevers Where are You
DrmBig4Evr replied to GrannyGoes4it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry it is on the lower right of the main forum screen in the blog section or you can find it in my profile...let me see if I can link it too..http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/blog/2245-the-high-heeled-ninja-assasin/ -
All I can say is follow your doctors orders. The reason we get sleeved is because diets haven't worked for us in the past. Preop is just that, a diet. You will still crave sweets, breads and pastas. The only advice I can give you now is to try an identify exactly why you are craving these foods is this truly a craving from within or is this because of stress or boredom, etc. Also, the drinking with meals thing you can practice, but as long as you are doing your best and following what the doctor orders you are doing well. Its much easier post-sleeve, at least for me.

With those NSV's I'm confident you will be heading toward more weight loss! It appears you are losing inches now and the scale isn't moving with it, but that will change again!

What do you tell children?
DrmBig4Evr replied to anniemay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well my children are older now 11 & 18 so I told them about it. My 11 year old had a nightmare two weeks before my surgery about me dying and it was so real he woke up crying so I opted not to tell him when it was scheduled. He was ok with it when he picked me up from the hospital. Now when I had back surgery he was 5 and it was very traumatic for him. So much so he drew pictures at school of me lying down and blood coming out of me. He is sooo scared of death and losing his mom. So my advice is to keep it quiet until after then have a talk with them about being gentle with you, but I would keep the procedure to yourself right now if you can. -

Sleepy ALL day today

Based on this information and the clay colored stools, I'd call your doc today! It sounds just like when I had my gallbladder surgery! Good luck! -
Cleared to work out?
DrmBig4Evr replied to KanesMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said I can do what I can tolerate, but no more than 15lbs in 15 days. So I have been doing some light weights for my arms, but as for pilates, yoga, or anything that will use the resistance of my body I'm waiting about 4 weeks. I walk daily. -
OK! What do you think?
DrmBig4Evr replied to paula512's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its normal, your body is adjusting. You can never compare your results with someone else. You've had the surgery. Do what your doctor instructs you to do and you will lose. There is always a stall in the first few weeks to a month or so. Getting off your meds is the best news I hear! It really is a life saver and tells you that your body is on the right track! -
Alot of people like water with a fresh squeezed lemmon (small amount) and add stevia.

Call your doctor, stupid I know, but I am not having that issue and since you can't get the protein in then I'd call, its been too long.
