    Snoring - help!

I'm partial to that one, myself... I think my very favorite, though, is :lalala:

    Snoring - help!

No, I've never had a sleep study done. I have woken up choking a couple times, but not recently. I really, really, really don't want a CPAP machine. My Dad was on one for the last 5 years or so of his life, and although he loved being able to sleep, both he and my Mom hated the machine itself. If SO can't sleep through my snoring, he sure is h*ll won't be able to sleep through a CPAP machine... Sigh.

    Snoring - help!

LOL Yeah, NO to the elbow to the ribs idea... Even being "lovingly" shaken awake is getting old... Sigh... Okay, you KNOW I haven't had enough sleep when I had to seriously ponder what on earth you could mean. ARGGGH!! :Banane45: :Banane40: We'll only use it for THAT if he stops shaking me awake... lol 'Cause right now I'm so cranky, his pleasure is the furthest thing from my mind... :tired And is it just me, or are there new smilies to choose from EVERY day?!?! I keep seeing ones I think I've never seen before. Gotta get the puking one on a PB thread... lol :) :attention:

Thanks, Gals. I'll put those things on the list of "must try"s. Anyone try the throat spray? I was gonna go for that first if anyone had good reviews of it.... :notagree

HELP!!! Was in the ER last night

Go get ultrasounded. Many people start having gall bladder problems with weightloss, so it would not be any big surprise if that's what it is. Also, you might want to do a little research about the gall bladder before having it removed, if that's what's recommended. There seems to be a small movement against gall bladder removal, and I guess if there is a better solution I'm all for avoiding surgery. Good luck, and don't let this drop!

HELP!!! Was in the ER last night

Doc didn't do an ultrasound of your gallbladder? Did he refer you to a radiologist? I had to be taken to the ER from work with severe pains back in 1992. I had ignored the previous 3 attacks, but the last time I just couldn't ignore the fact that something was seriously wrong. ER doc ultrasounded me, and lo and behold, gall stones. He referred me to a surgeon, and a month or two later it was removed. The pain was so bad, I imagined it was what a broken back felt like. And if I could just burp/fart, I'd feel so much better. Edited to add: Oh - BTW, doc told me greasy/spicey foods would often bring a gall bladder attack on...
  7. BB - Most people, when they reach the right restriction, find that the constant "I'm hungry I'm hungry I'm hungry I'm hungry I'm hungry I'm hungry I'm hungry" chatter gets stopped in its tracks, and suddenly eating nutritiously most of the time isn't the chore (meaning isn't as hard) it used to be when "dieting". A few people don't get this affect, but most of us do. Once the physical hunger chatter is turned down, though, you REALLY get to see what's going on in your head...

    Addictions...

Hmmmm... What IS the difference between habit, compulsion, fixation, passion, obsession, addiction?? ad·dic·tion Compulsive physiological and psychological need for a habit-forming substance: a drug used in the treatment of heroin addiction; The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or or involved in something ob·ses·sion Compulsive preoccupation with a fixed idea or an unwanted feeling or emotion, often accompanied by symptoms of anxiety. A compulsive, often unreasonable idea or emotion Hmmm - dictionary info very unhelpful... lol Some links I found researching this (I haven't read them yet): http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20050903/bob10.asp http://www.presmark.com/htmlfile/habitvs.htm http://www.hinduonnet.com/folio/fo0102/01020060.htm http://nationalpainfoundation.org/MyTreatment/Spotlight_Schneider.asp http://www.vicesmagazine.com/darling.htm More thoughts?!?!

    Would sneezing casue slippage??

Hi Magic - Congrats on your band! At this point it is likely that the pain you're feeling is simply because you are so recently out of surgery. However, violent sneezing, coughing, and/or vomiting can cause slippage, and I suppose under the right circumstances could disrupt your port as well. Not that I think you should be worried at this point, but if you end up with unusual pains that don't go away, or things seem "different" and don't resolve, or if you suddenly cannot keep down liquids then a call to the doc is definitely in order. While these things can cause problems, it seems that mostly the band isn't quite that delicate. So while it's possible, chances are everything is okay. You just have to be as careful as possible, and keep close tabs on how you're feeling just in case. Feel better!!

    Addictions...

What are "pokies"? I think my personality is more obsessive than addictive. I abused alcohol in college, but never was "addicted". As soon as I 'fessed up to myself that I didn't like the taste of alcohol and only drank so that I wouldn't have to be "responsible" for my amorous advances to others, I quit. Plus I much preferred spending what precious little extra I had on food. And whichever person was the object of my desire at the time. That's my other bad addiction... The current object of my affections, reciprocated or not. Luckily the current object reciprocates...

    Potatoes not prozac

Yay, Nykee!! So glad you're finding it helpful! There were lots of revelations in there for me as well, and I thought maybe you'd like it. So glad I was right!!
  14. Is it possible? ????? Is it likely? NO I'm not a wound expert. There was another thread recently about someone accidently tearing off their steri strip, and it was recommended to them to: 1. call their doc 2. use bacitracin 3. cover with a bandaid http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=15307 http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=15308 Sorry to not be of more help! edited to say: Uh, were you asking more about scar reduction type stuff as opposed to infection/healing type stuff??? It occured to me that I may have misinterpreted your question. For scar reduction, I have heard both of the items you're using highly recommended.
  15. Lillster - Erosion??? 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999% NOT. Maybe even more than that. lol Here's the scoop about the post-op recommended menus: MOST docs have a liquid stage, a mushy stage, and then regular foods as tolerated. It is important to follow your doctor's guidelines as closely as possible, because the sutures holding the band in place need to heal and create clean scar tissue. Interrupting/disrupting the process by making the stomach work (it's just a big muscle, churning around to move food through) to digest food risks irritating/tearing/disrupting the sutures, creating an increased possibility of slippage later on down the road. Think of a knee with a cut - if you keep flexing it the cut keeps pulling open, and then it taks longer to heal, and may not heal cleanly. With your swelling going down you are undoubtedly feeling ravenous - and you will until you start getting fills. PLEASE follow your docs post op diet as closely as possible, and if you absolutely feel you cannot please call him and ask for suggestions. With all that being said, a handful of docs don't seem to have post-op diet restrictions, but INAMED does, and it makes sense to my mind logically (which doesn't mean it's that much more true, but means that I personally am more likely to follow the "rules" as much as possible... lol)

Exercise! When do I see results???

The tape measure will tell you your success more than the scales. No need to measure, though - I bet you can already feel it in how your clothing fits. This is why the phrase "The scale LIES." was born...

    Refresher Course - netiquette

Good post, Jill. :clap2: Also a reminder to everyone - if you want a thread to die, DON'T POST TO IT. Seriously. Eventually it will fall off the charts. But posting to a thread saying "Why won't this thread die???" just brings it back to life. Kind of like saying my thumb hurts! And then hitting it with the hammer again... LOL Oh, I KNOW it's hard. It's that old compulsion kind of thing.

I'm totally on board with the brain transplant comment - I need one, too. But the disappointment in the weightloss is another matter...

    "trash Tv "

I hate those reality shows... One exception - Fear Factor. It's like... A dirty pleasure, I guess. But the people aren't verbally abused, and I keep wondering if I'd have the guts to do some of those things. But I'm with you, JQ - I really think these types of shows are unhealthy.
