    DeLarla's Weekly Fun Thread

My favorite made-up one was all the fruits and veggies I wanted, and Peanut Butter. Nothing else... lol I did really well, but probably more due to my membership and commitment to the gym at the time...

    Fun Thread - Screen Names

My name is a tribute to my Dad's love of word play and anagrams. I was the first born, and of course was supposed to be a son, who would be named after his father, Donald, and then take Dad's middle name, Lee, for my middle name. As the fates would have it, I was a girl. Rather than abandon his original plan altogether, he dropped the "d" on the end of Donald and replaced it with an "i" for "Lee", and then I got my Mom's middle name as a middle name. It's pronounced "Donnelly", and has caused me nothing but problems my whole life, but I love it anyway. Because my last name is a very common boy's name, I was forever being segregated into the boys' sections by my name. Very first experience - ending up in the boys' Sunday School class at five years old. lol I've been told I'm not authorized to speak on my accounts - they are only authorized to speak to Mr. Donali, I've been advised to have my "husband" add me to the video account I set up in my name, I've received recruitment letters from the military... lol It's been a fun and interesting ride...

OT: Heartbreak. For dog lovers only.

Nancy, I am so very sorry to hear your heartbreaking news. I wept all throughout this thread, as I had to put my son Max down 10/01 and I still miss him and shed tears over his physical absence in my life. He was a true partner to me and I have his pictures all over my house and my work cube. (((HUGS))) to us all, and to our current four-legged family members. They are truly too short a time with us here on earth...

    The importance of Water

Hi Denise - That same thing happened to me - no probs with food, but Water was hard to get down. My personal, non-scientific explanation to myself was that food can be compacted, so when the stomach churned to push the food down through the stoma, the food was moved around and compressed and pushed down. But since water water doesn't compress, pushing on it would just make it flow upwards - I just really had to wait for the water to trickle through... Don't know if there is any more scientific explanation, but my hypothesis satisfied me...

    Happy Birthday Donali!!!

I love some of these birthday quotes!! "The years between fifty and seventy are the hardest. You are always being asked to do things, and yet you are not decrepit enough to turn them down." - T. S. Eliot "From birth to age eighteen, a girl needs good parents. From eighteen to thirty-five, she needs good looks. From thirty-five to fifty-five, she needs a good personality. From fifty-five on, she needs good cash." - Sophie Tucker "Here's a birthday spanking, Sent you on a card, One, Two, Three, Put them right on hard, Four, Five, Six One to live on, one to grow on, One to make you fat." - Anonymous Ouch!! I definitely got TOO many spankings!! lol "Every ten years a man should give himself a good kick in the pants." - Edward Steichen I say, why wait ten years?!?! lol "We are always the same age inside." - Gertrude Stein "The heyday of woman's life is the shady side of fifty." - Elizabeth Cady Stanton "Forty is the old age of youth; fifty is the youth of old age." - French proverb "At twenty years of age, the will reigns; at thirty, the wit; and at forty, the judgement." - Benjamin Franklin "The lovely thing about being forty is that you can appreciate twenty-five-year-old men." - Colleen McCullough "Middle age is when you still believe you'll feel better in the morning." - Bob Hope

    "EDIT BUTTON" dilemma

Yay!!! Thanks for the return of the edit button!!

    Google and your privacy

I think there is a difference between a site being registered with search engines, and individual posts within that site being pulled up. HTML code provides coding for "keywords" or "search words" that allows search engines to find the site based on that, and I know it's possible to submit the site with those keywords to the most popular search engines. At least that used to be the case a few years ago. I don't believe it is necessary to have the WHOLE site contents indexed. I definitely think this site should be found using a search on WLS, LapBand, etc. But finding this site solely based on a user name, or even a phrase from a post, is pretty creepy, what with more and more stalkers and obsessive/compulsive people out there. If there were an option, I would vote to NOT index the whole LBT site, but limit the search engines to finding the site by the keywords provided in the HTML code. However, if indexing the whole site is the only option for people to find us... I guess I'd have to say we should be indexed.

    "EDIT BUTTON" dilemma

I'm sure the 30 minute warning is that you have a 30 minute window to edit your post - after that you're locked out. Yes, sometimes it does take more than a 30 minute window to edit a post - like the daily food log thread, for example - that editing was intended to go on all day. I guess this also means that the thread starter no longer has the right to delete their thread...

    Whippledaddy, Ryan... Where are You???

Ryan said a couple weeks ago that he's going to be focusing on getting Patty well, and that he might not have much time to drop by for awhile - remember, he's "Dormant 'til Spring"... Can't wait for Spring, Ryan!! Hope all's well with you and yours!! xxoo

    Food Journal Thread

So Megan - those fortune Cookies really do know what they're talking about!! I can't deal with not being able to edit my posts, so I'm dropping out of posting on this thread. Can we get the edit privileges back, Ms. Moderators?!?! I have to change my days so much, I really don't want to post it 10 times each day... lol (THAT is my story, and I'm sticking to it!! It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the abysmal choices I occasionally (lately 99%!) make. Really. And today I have a whole birthday cake on my desk, so there really is no point in posting what I eat today... lol )
