Before and After pic 7 months out
rd2010 replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Holy Smokes. You should be the poster child for VSG success! Congratulations. -
The main reason I didn't tell people, except close friends and family? Simple, I didn't want to hear a lot of anecdotal horror stories that people like to share whenever someone is having surgery or even when they have a baby. That and the naysayers. Mainly to avoid all the negativity. The people I did choose to tell I knew would be supportive and that support has been a major reason for my success.

Way to go! I am 5 months out and have lost 52 pounds since surgery and 98 totals since beginning this journey. Got to git rid of more clothes that used to not fit because they were too tight to now not fitting because two people can fit into it! Best decision, next to my wife and kids, I have made.

The same thing happened to me when I had a small piece of fried chicken. I was sick for about 12 hours.

New to the Forum, new to my Sleeve (11/2/10)
rd2010 replied to beckyBUTless's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
One thing I have noticed is, that I have only lost 17 pounds since the surgey; however I have to buy all new clothes. It seems like I am losing tons of inches. I think the scale sometimes may not always give the most accurate information on how your body is doing. Not sure if others have seen the same thing or not. -
I had a drain and most of the time I forgot about it. It did not hurt when it was taken out; just felt kind of funny and it only took about two seconds for the surgeon to remove it. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

So, first day of pureed foods. For dinner I had about 3 or 4 bites of split pea soup. Now pain in my stomache. Is this something I shouldn't have eaten? I did make sure was strained and smooth.

In the same boat. I took Benadryl and nada. I am getting about 2 to 3 hours of sleep a night. Hopefully it is only temporary.

That is a great question and suggestions. I have to wear suits to work, so I will be hitting up consignment shops until I hit goal. I am already floating in my clothes.

I caught a virus too. Not fun trying to heal and fight a runny nose and a cough. Hang in there.

Glad it helps! I am becoming a regular at the Vitamin Shoppe. -
UNABLE TO SLEEP AND FEELS LIKE RESTLESS LEG SYNDROME BUT IN ARMS
rd2010 replied to LESLIEH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same exact issues. The nutritionists said it is more than likely low calcium. Once I started taking Calcium Citrate with Magnesium and Vitamin D, it went away. -
When does the stitch line completely Heal?
rd2010 replied to Big_Mike's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I have been reading lately about soda, even diet soda will cause a stall in weight loss. Must be something to do with the chemical components. At any rate, I stopped soda 12 weeks prior to surgery and I lost 40 pounds in that short amount of time. Granted the last week was high protien and then shakes 2 days prior. I really think cutting the soda out has helped. -
Had mine done on the 10th. I went home on Friday, felt ultra great yesterday and today I feel nauseous and my stomache hurts. I think I overdid it yesterday with being all energetic and feeling good.

Drinking Liquids hurt going down
rd2010 replied to fluffy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same as me; surgery on the 10th and pain at first. It has gotten better for me today. I think it will just take some time. They weren't kidding when they said it would take over an hour to drink a protien shake. -
Wednesday 11/10 at 9:30 AM. Can't wait to get it over with.
