Hi and welcome, I do not know if the band is better that bariatric surgery- also I am not qualified to answer that. What I do know is that you will get a lot of support from this site .I have learned so much from the great people on here. Love Canada. I have family in Canada and they said that Canada does not usually approve lab band surgery . Looks like that is not true. Lassie

Hi Erica I also have been overweight most of my life. So far I am glad I have the band, I have not had a fill yet but have lost about twenty pounds in a month I know that some of that is Water loss. So far I am hungry most of the time but it is getting better, when I get a fill I hope the hunger will go away and I still will eat less. Since you mentioned your knee’s I will tell you mine are so much better already I am able to walk better and my knees are not as painful. HI it took me a year to get all my tests and insurance requirements. I was very nervous right up to the time I had my band. (May 24th ) Help your sister, she will need your support and she will be your best support when it is your turn. You will also be able to see all the pitfalls before you get your band. Keep your mind on the prize Lassie
