I did not have to do a pre-op diet I think it depends on your weight before surgery.

welcome It will get better, I had mine on May 24th and I am down about 30lbs . I waited way to long to have the surgery I am 64 ( better late than never) so it is very smart to start younger. I wish you God Bless in your journey.

For new bandsters, I posted this in post op but thought it would be better in pre-op. While reading some of the posts in the last few weeks I have read that some people are under the perception that doctors do not put any Fluid in the band at surgery. . I did ask this question at the hospital after surgery and was told by a nurse that they do not usually do that at the time of surgery. When I went for my first fill I found out that I already had 3cc in my band. They put in 2 more and I could not even sip Water so they took out I cc and now I have 4cc’s. I have had appointments twice for two more fills but I have canceled them due to the fact that I am still losing and have some difficulty in eating some foods. I did not know to ask the question of my doctor before surgery so I am hoping that all the new banders to be will remember this and ask the doctor doing the surgery and not the nurse after surgery

Considering The Lap Band / Dr. Smith Fort Worth
lassie replied to chenie69's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
good luck with your journey -
It took me a year to get approved and during that time my insurance required I had to be on a six month nutrition regiment. My weight and BMI was just over the requirement for the insurance so after losing a little my insurance turned me down because I lost just enough not to be covered. It was a nightmare for me I had waited a year to be turned down. I was so depressed I gained weight and my doctor resubmitted my claim and I was approved. Go figure ( no pun intended. ) hehe

went on vacation for three weeks I was so scared that I would gain weight. I will admit I did have a few stuck incidents because I eat dinner at friends homes and did not want to tell them about my band. I had to throw up a few times also because of not chewing enough. On the whole it was not to bad I did lose three pounds on my journey but I need to be more carful. I am glad to be home so that I can cook my own meals. I am usually a stronger person but eating out for three weeks was difficult. Anyway just thought I would share it might help other people to plan better than I did. I had my band put on May 24th. God Bless

well by now you are all done and home with your honey, God bless you on your journey Lassie -
Had my first Major stuck today, was not fun. First time I have had to throw up. I was busy with my three grandchildren was getting there Breakfast (they sleep late on the weekend) and cleaning up so that we could go to the movie (Batman) I do not have them too often so I was eating a piece of bacon (bad girl) on the run, oh my gosh it was not pretty. I just want to warn everyone that has not had an episode to not eat on the run, and to leave bacon alone. We had to leave late for the movie; I am now thinking about dinner and am afraid to eat. I am going on vacation next Friday and was going to have another fill on Monday I called the office and left a message to cancel it, hope that was a wise decision and I will not gain weight when I am gone. God Bless Lassie
