I had a concern at my fill, the person you would normally do it was leaving for 3 months so she was training a doctor. I was the first person for him to pratice on- it was hell. I did call the hospital after and told them I would not have another fill with this person. I know I was his first but his attitude was horrible. Please request another person next time. And Woot Woot on your weight loss.

I was banded May 24th and had one fill. I am not ready for another fill yet, I am still losing so I will wait untill things slow down before I do. Love my band, hope you are also doing great.

when reading your post my heart ached for you. I agree with the other posts so take the time to have a talk with your wife and let her know what you want to do, that you love her but you need this for her as well as you. Then go for it, this is your LIFE you are talking about, God Bless I will keep you and your wife in my prayers.

Woot Woot, down another pant size I am in size 16 I am so excited. I did try on some of my old 14, I could get them fastened but my tummy hung over about 6 inches LOL, so I guess I will have to wait and try them on another day. I know this is not a life changing post but I am happy. Love my band. God bless

you too, it is getting better I tried on some shorts today they fit but my knees are so chubby, it will get better maybe next summer lol

I agree, my doctor also tried to talk me out of the band but I had done my research and I was forceful that I wanted the band. So far it has worked for me, he seemed to think that I would lose more weight faster with the other options. I felt I wanted to lose slower so my fat would have time to adjust to my body lol. Not sure if this is true have read pro and cons. Do your research and find what is the best fit. Sometimes it is how much you have to lose maybe I would have went a different way if I had more to lose. God Bless you.

I was raised in Scotland, I live in Oregon now, but it is hard to not use a lot of the phrases I grew up with that have a total different meaning here in the States. LOL I have a ton of them.

One step at a time, it took me a year to have the surgery. Now it seems like the time flew with all the tests and nutrition classes. I am so glad I hung in there, you do the same. God Bless

Please do not be discouraged it took quite a few pounds before I noticed it in my clothes, then it just happened, it will come -keep your chin up. In my country we say “keep your pecker up” pecker means chin. LOL

what insurance do you have? maybe someone on here has had some experience with that company and can help you. Have you talked to your doctor maybe he will come up with something. Do you have a hernia some insurance will pay extra if that has to be taken care of at the same time ( a two fer) hang in there something will come up I will say a wee prayer for you tonight. I agree I can gain 2 to 3 pounds in a day then it goes down pretty fast. I lose about one pound a week and that is really good for me. Everyone is different so listen to your body and adjust. It is a learning process for all of us, you hang in there. Post in a few days and let us know how you are doing we all care. God bless

HI Bea and Sandra Welcome to the forum. Please feel free to ask any questions that will make you understand more about the band. I have had great results, there has been some ups and downs but on the whole pretty good. On this forum there are plenty of people to answer your questions. I am also in my sixties, love my band. Banded May 24th. I am not as hunger, I have had the band filled once and seem to be doing fine with losing, ( slowly but still losing ) I wish I had it done sooner. Everyone I am sure is different please go in to it with an open mind and learn all you can. Get your own info from your doctor. God bless

It seems so long ago that I got that call ( surgery May 24th ) I was so excited and you know I am still excited. I am still working hard at it and some days are better than others, I would not change a thing, good luck to you. and it is way better when you follow the doc orders.

While reading some of the posts in the last few weeks I have read that some people are under the perception that doctors do not put any fluid in the band at surgery. . I did ask this question at the hospital after surgery and was told by a nurse that they do not usually do that at the time of surgery. When I went for my first fill I found out that I already had 3cc in my band. They put in 2 more and I could not even sip water so they took out I cc and now I have 4cc’s. I have had appointments twice for two more fills but I have canceled them due to the fact that I am still losing and have some difficulty in eating some foods. I did not know to ask the question of my doctor before surgery so I am hoping that all the new banders to be will remember this and ask the doctor doing the surgery and not the nurse after surgery

you do not want to eat or dirink anything that will cause more gas, I know it is hard but follow you doc orders and you should do better. Good Luck sweetheart
