So I looked through every page on this forum to see if anyone had talked about Bariatric Advantage Protien shakes. My Doctor gave me a list of shakes they recommend and this is one of them, But there isn't anywhere I can find that you can buy samples and they are to expensive to just buy without knowing what they are like. Has anyone tried them or been able to find samples.

Okay, So I have been tasting protien shakes to find one that I can tolerate while on my 2 week pre op diet, I have tried so MANY!! So far the ones I can tolerate the most are Unjury I am in desperate need of suggestions for some more that I can try out!!

I like the Unjury strawberry Sorbet with a few drops of Lemon juice in it!! -
I was wondering how long everyone was planning on taking to recover. My surgeon is recommending a month off of work and I am fortunate enough to have my mom to help me financially and emotionally during that time. I was wanting to know what ya'll were being told by your surgeons and those that have had the procedure how long it took them to recover.

My name is Kayla I am 22 and live in Central Florida! I have struggled with my weight since I was in Middle School....Most recently getting to the largest I have ever been! I have been going through the process of getting my surgery approved by my insurance since December of last year. In 2 1/2 weeks I will have my month 6 appointment with my Primary Care Physician. I remember when I had my first appointment with him in January I was thinking WOW this is going to take FOREVER and now that I am only weeks away from that last appointment I am incredibly surprised by how fast time went by. I have already met with the Nutritionist and Psychologist and had 2 appointments with the surgeon. I go in a week to get my cardiac clearance for Surgery. I am just hoping and praying EVERYDAY that I get approved by BCBS I have done everything they have told me to do!!!! I am so lucky to have such an amazing support group through my family as well at first when I told them that I was considering surgery they weren't very happy but the more I kept talking to them and showing them research and explaining how everything happens they have all become okay with it and are just as excited about it as I am! I also have some pretty AMAZING co-workers I work in a call center that employs around 1000 people and that is a lot for the tiny town I live in and each and every person that I have talked to about it has been incredibly supportive!! So that is a little about me I can't wait to get to know everyone =)!

So I was looking at some of the posts last night and I saw people who had BCBS in other states who were getting denied for the surgery and I TOTALLY freaked out!! So I called BCBS and this is what I was told that they don't cover Sleeve Gastrectomy because it still "Investigational", and the the lady is like but we cover Lap Band! I am so crushed and don't know what to do at this point do I submit my paper work and have them deny me and then appeal it or do I go with the lap band that I know is going to be covered!!!!!!!!!!

I was just curious has anyone in the group actually been sleeved yet? If so, I would love to know about your experience in the hospital and coming home? If not do you have a prospective date yet? I am looking at having the surgery some time in July just depends on how long it take for my insurance to approve the surgery. My Doctors are putting me on a very intense 2 week pre-op diet I am only able to have a 4 protien shakes a day, Water and sugar free drinks NOTHING ELSE!!! There are actually 2 ladies at work who aren't overweight but are going to do it with me I love them to death for being so supportive!!!!
-
That's awesome I was originally going to go see Dr. Jawad because I am going to be moving up close to Ocala but then I went to a seminar in Orlando with Dr. Wier and his staff and they are just really AMAZING!!!!!! I found out last night that the sleeve isn't going to be covered by my insurance so I am going to be going back to lapband surgery (this is what I had originally planned on) but I don't want to leave the group. I may not be having the same surgery as everyone else but it is still a life changing journey!

Kayla replied to Can'tweight's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't had surgery yet, but I was told by my surgeon that it is a lack of protien I am not sure what type of diet your doctor has you on I would talk to them about it. -

My Last PCP appointment is June 13th my Surgeon is submitting the paperwork that day...I will probably be a nervous wreck until I find out something!!! I also got a little depressed about 3 months into the process because I was like this is taking FOREVER and I just wish it will hurry.....When I made that last appointment I was so EXCITED and that just completely remotivated me!!! My grandparents are getting me a treadmill and hopefully I will be able to put my excess anxiousness into exercising rather than eating =)

Hi Everyone I am Kayla I am 22 and live in Sebring FL, BUT I will be moving at the end of the year to live with my Mom she lives in Live Oak which I am sure Jenn knows is only 15 min from Lake City what a small world...I would love to get together sometime and meet everyone. I go to Live Oak at least every couple of months but unfortunately I won't be able to pre surgery I am saving all of my vacation time for actual surgery which if everything goes well will be middle to end of July I will be having it in Orlando with Dr. Wier!! His staff is absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!!
