Help- Need advise- I had my 1st fill on the 14th- some restriction- No real problems- 1 time I had slime- and PB- but only once- too large of a bite without chewing well- Here is the problem- tonight I ate dinner- boiled shrimp- refried beans-(too lazy to cook) and about 30 minutes later I started having gas pains in my shoulder and back. It felt like the day after I WAS ORIGINALLY BANDED. What could I have done wrong? Do you think I overate? What could cause such pain? I'm hydrated- no excessive exercise today- I am sooooooo uncomfortable. Has this happened to you? Please reply if you have a suggestion. Thxs, Deb:help: -
Hi all, Well I went for my first fill yesterday. I went to the surgical center in Houston, on Main street. I was banded on Jan. 19th- Dr. Spivak. I have lost a total of 12.5lbs. That is really ok with me, I did not do a pre-band diet. I went to the seminar on wednesday- banded on friday- so no time to diet before band. I was ravenous before I went in to get the fill, two hours after I ate. I felt as though I had no restriction. Joy was the person that administered the fill. She put in 1.6cc- Felt that was a good amount. Last night I was still on soft foods- She told me to eat mashed up fish- but not just to eat cottage cheese or other liquid foods. I guess I felt different- not really sure. I believe I heard that it takes a couple of days to really tell how much restriction I have. Is that true? The fill itself kind of hurt- Joy had to give a shot to numb area- seems my port is well below skin. Probly just because I'm fat. After that all went well, and she asked that I remind whoever does my next fill what she did. Is my experience similar to your 1st fill?

Hi, I have a question for Dr. Spivak's patients- I called today to make an appointment for my first fill. I was banded on the 19th of Jan- and will have my first fill on the 16th of Feb. Now, the question. Did Dr. Spivak's office have any of you get your fill at the surgical center on South Main in Houston? I said Oh we don't see Dr. Spivak on your 1st appt.- and the lady on the phone said only if you request to see him. Is that the way your fills were handeled? Please advise. Thxs, Deb-Texas

Banded Friday Jan 19th
Deb-Texas replied to Deb-Texas's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Terry, I was banded at Park Plaza Hospital. Dr Spivak had 10 patients that morning. I believe that 9 were bands, and the other a by pass. It was easy to see how they forgot me- with me being put in a different wing of the hospital. Terry, I have so many questions. Do you feel full after 4oz of soup? I'm still hungry. How many calories are you consuming per day? Are you losing weight. Please tell me your meals for a complete day. When are you going for your 1st fill? Like I said full of questions- Thanks, Deb -

kIM. Like i said the surgery was uncomplicated and went well. The only hinge is they forgot me. I was scheduled for one of the later surgeries. I was there at 9am , and at 5PM went to the nurses station to ask if they were ever going to take me to surgery. The Doctor was doing rounds, they called the surgical team in , and was banded around 6:15 pm. It was a comedy of errors, They had placed me on another wing, and someone had reported that i HAD WENT HOME....craziness....... After surgery he sends you home with pain meds, operated on friday evening, attended Church Sunday morning, no problems. I went out to lunch after Church to a mexican restuarant, drank iced tea, came home and ate cottage cheese. I am a tiny bit sore now- but no meds required. His office called to check on me monday morning, and to anwser any questions. I was told again not to have over 4-6 oz at a time, could eat every 2 hours if necessary, but only 4-6 oz at a time. Dr. Spivak's people are all pretty impressive, and have been extremely helpful. Hurry and get banded so we can compare notes Deb:nervous -
