Would I Be A Success If I Stopped Losing Today?
lyndynojo replied to Pookeyism's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Absolutely you are a success!! I have considered taking the goal weight off my ticker so many times because I feel great right where I am. Yet, when I see that ticker I feel bad that I haven't made more of an effort to get to that number. This time last year I was 240 and wearing a 20/22 now I am 165 and wearing an 8/10 so I KNOW I'm not a failure yet that mocking "goal" weight tries to tell me I am. I have maintained this weight for 6 months now with no effort at all and that is really why I wanted surgery, for the mainteance of the weight loss. So don't let a number define your satisfaction with yourself. -
But I Do Wanna Be A Size 6
lyndynojo replied to Texarkolina's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
LOL Well as an older sleever I will admit that 95% of my reason for having surgery was total vanity. I am 51 and have no health issues at all I was just sick and tired of feeling so fat and old. i was not overweight when I was younger but had gotten up to a size 20/22 and now I'm wearing and 8 or 10 and it feels fantastic!!! I feel years younger and don't have much excess skin like I thought I would. As a matter of fact my 1 yr anniversary was yesterday and my only regret is that I didn't do it when I first heard of the surgery 3 yrs ago. Be a grateful youngster that you have this opportunity at such a young age. -
Pre Op Size Vs Post Op Sizes
lyndynojo replied to chitowngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know!! I can't believe it when I go shopping and can just pick up an 8 or 10 and count on it fitting. I still gravitate towards the 18/16 stuff and then have to tell myself " nope self you are not that big any more" LOL -
Pre Op Size Vs Post Op Sizes
lyndynojo replied to chitowngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This time last year I was a solid size 20 pant and a 1x or 2x top, now I am a size 8 or 10 pant and a size med top. -
What Is With Jeans These Days? Lol
lyndynojo replied to Lisa821's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love low rise jeans, but I have a lower waist too. I find that the low rise don't cut me in two and just look better. -

Mine is 38f and it's working great. Put bougie in the search box and tons of results some with pictures of the size comparisons will come up.

Hope For Second Year Sleevers
lyndynojo replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree!!! This is exactly my philosophy. I am 10 mo post op and have lost 75 lbs. The last 4 months I haven't lost anything, BUT I've been eating anything and I do mean anything I want. I have done no exercise at all. This last week I decided I want to get the last 15 lbs off so I cut out my sugar and I lost 2 lbs this week. lol yeah! I refuse to obsess over carbs or anything else for the rest of my life, I could have done that without surgery. I find when I do that I feel just like I did before surgery, you know that desperate, I've got to do it this time but I probably won't be able to feeling. I do weigh myself everyday just to keep everything in check. I want to live like I use to before I gained weight and I think that we all can live a normal life with this wonderful gift we've given ourselves. -
I have to eat something when I take anitbiotics. Like maybe a couple of crackers. Hope it helps.

lyndynojo replied to Supercinoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep that's what I get the on the go single packets for a dollar. I will have to try the wylers too. I keep some in my purse for when we are eating out I can get a glass of Water to go and have a drink when I'm ready. I also use them all day at work. I hate plain water. lol -

Vanity, Mental, Health -- Percentages Of Each Regarding My Decision
lyndynojo replied to HondaCivicDude's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Mine was 90% vanity, I use to weigh 135 and measurements were 37-26-37, and 10% everything else. I have no health issues to speak of and no emotional issues so vanity was the motivation for my surgery. -
My incisions are way below my bra line. I wore a bra in the hospital even.

Thinking My Surgeon Has Lost His Mind!
lyndynojo replied to jiggyjen1982@yahoo.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came home from the hospital on mushies, adding a few new things every day. I was cleared for anything at 5 weeks. My cousin's dr in Utah never had her do any protein shakes at all, he started her getting protein from foods from the very first. so every doctor is different. My dr said no carbonation for 3 months but also said after that it can't stretch the sleeve. -
i got a ice shaver for snow cones from walmart and did shaved ice with lemon juice and salt. yum yum also sf snow cone syrup. it takes a long time to eat, you get to crunch and get in a cup or so of fluid at the same time.

I think I would have to tell her that she gets that job now! She is beyond rude and certainly not much of a friend.

I had a consultation with Dr. Sartor, I thought, but it was his nurse practitoner and then found out I wouldn't even meet him until the day before surgery and I really didn't like that. I do hear he's a good surgeon though. I used Dr Zizi in West Monroe and was very, very pleased with him. I have never heard anything at all about Norwood and choose not to comment on about Merriman.

Just my opinion, but I think it depends on the surgeon's technique. My dr said he took most all of the stretchy part of the stomach so there shouldn't be any stretching out.

well the pudding mix is sugar free, so no sugar and very few calories. Also if you let the blender keep running for a few minutes the shake gets thicker and is the texture of a milkshake. -
A Little Trick To Spruce Up Protein Shakes

I have to say you can make a Protein shake pretty tasty. I use Water and ice in a blender with Protein Powder of your choice, sf pudding mix, sf hershey syrup or fruit. Just an example this morning I had the following: Herbalife Protein Drink mix, vanilla (110 cal and 15 g protein), herbalife personalized protein powder (40 cal 10 grams of protein), 2 T sf hershey syrup (15 cal 1 gr. protein) 1 T cheesecake sf pudding mix (approx 5 cal) 3 strawberries ( 17 cal) Delicious chocolate strawberry cheesecake flavor and under 200 calories with 26 gr of protein. -
I think that is totally do able!!!

the drain is a tube coming out of the stomach that keeps the fluid drained. dr zizi uses it to look for a leak. i had to drink purple kool aid several times a day and make sure none showed up in the drain. it's not bad, doesn't hurt at all but feels weird when he pulls it out.

I work as an ultrasound tech and the machine I have to push is about 500 lbs so between that and having to lift patients my dr said 6 weeks. also my son had been in Afghanistan for the past year and was coming home so I took a couple of extra weeks to be home with him.
