  1. While I don't think anyone should disregard their doctor's orders, I do agree with the stop obsessing part of your post. What I mean by that is for instance: 1.) We don't have to worry about dehydration more than we did before forever, just for the first few weeks post op when we still have trouble getting fluids in. I see people on here at a year out worrying about not getting all of their fluids. I'm 14 months post op and I drink just like I did before surgery, sometimes a lot, some days not much at all. It never hurt me before to only get 30 oz in a day why would it now. 2.) We don't HAVE to eat protein first forever just in the weight loss phase because let's face it we are put on a high protein low carb diet, yes diet by our docs to lose the weight. I chose to have this surgery so I could eat like I did when I was thin in my younger days and that is a little of this and some of that but not 4 servings of anything. When I really started trying to diet to lose the 10-15 lbs I had gained in my late 20's is when I really started gaining weight. If I wanted to stay on Atkins I would have just done that and not had surgery, at least then I could have eaten a whole steak and not just 3-4 oz. lol Anyway that's just my two cents worth take it or leave it. lol
  2. I didn't keep any of mine either. I couldn't get them out of the house fast enough when they got too big. And they were a tight 20. I do wish now that I had kept at least one pair just to have.
  3. So here's another little twist on this same topic for you. I remember looking at my size 20 jeans before surgery and thinking they didn't look that big (what!!) but looking at a size 8 or 10 and thinking they looked so tiny. When I first got into a 10 jean every time and I mean every time I would think " these are so not going to fit" and being suprised when they did. Now, I'm in the mall this weekend looking at pants and I hold up a size 10 and think, man that looks kind of big. again what!!! I think we just have to get used to what's normal for us. BTW while in that same store I looked at a size 20 and it looked big. lol

    Stupid Carb Question.

I'm exactly the same. I have never counted carbs. I count calories.

    Candy

I do have candy in moderation. If you check the calories on the sugarfree kind it has almost the same as the real thing so I just go for the real thing.

    A Whole Size Of Pizza

Hi, I'm 14 months post op and for me it depends on the type of pizza. The only one I can eat a slice of is Dominos thin and crispy crust. I get the cali chicken, bacon ranch and can eat a slice and maybe a tiny corner piece cause the crust is like a cracker almost. Other pizzas I just take the toppings off and eat what I can of them, which usually isn't even a whole slice worth.

    Hungry

I have had hunger from about 4 weeks on. I'm 14 months post op and I eat about every 3 hrs. Not full meals of course but maybe cheese and a couple of crackers or a couple of peanut butter crackers. My family jokes that my grandbaby and I have to stay on our feeding schedules or we aren't ourselves. Lol I take an acid reducer too but I'm still hungry that often. It hasn't effected my weightloss though that I can see. I just count the calories in for my daily amount.
  8. I know I'm not the orginal poster but maybe this will help some. First of all we don't get a pouch, we still have our regular stomach that functions just like before only much, much smaller. My doctor said that you can't stretch it out since he took almost all of the stretchy out. I am 14 months out and for the last 7 mo or so I have eaten anything I want and I do mean anything and I haven't gained a pound I also haven't lost anything, but I'm not trying to either. I'm really happy where I am. I do weigh everyday just to keep myself on track and I'm sure if I started throwing back milkshakes and candy bars willy nilly the weight would come back. It does seem like it would be an effort to really gain again though. This is just my experience but I hope it helps.
  9. I toatlly understand where you are coming from. I felt that exact same way at first but i promise it will get better. I'm 14 months out and can eat like a normal person, NOT like I ate before surgery, that wasn't normal. That was gluttony. I went through a terrible period of food mourning. I would literally cry at pizza commercials and watching diners, drive-ins and dives (BTW not a good idea immediately post op LOL). When you get enough weight off that you really are noticing it will all be worth it too. I still have days that I want to eat a lot like I use to and when that happens I just go in the bathroom and look at the size of whatever pants I have on that day and see a size 8 or 10 instead of a 20 and I feel all better.(true story lol). Also maintaining the weight loss is a hugh issue for me. I could lose before but gain it all back in less time than it took to lose it. Since surgery I have been maintaining for about 7 mo now and eating whatever I want in moderation. I hope you start feeling better. keep us posted.

    Um...gas Question...

I haven't noticed this at all. So maybe it depends on the person.
  11. I think you will keep whatever your natural shape is. I know for myself before I gained weight I was hourglass, boob, hips and little waist I am about the same now but waist will never be 25 inches again and I have lost some of the booty. LOL oh well I can live with it.

Say Something Nice About The Last Poster

There are so many nice things I could say about you lilMissDiva! You have been one of my role models since the first time I got on here. You keep it real without being preachy or condesending. I love reading your posts. Keep up the good work. And you are a cutie too.
  13. My doctor didn't give me any "never again" foods. I am about 14 months post op and can eat a few bites of anything, but like the above posters bread is only a bite or two and I'm done with it. I do occasionally drink diet soda, but find I don't crave it like before. I also can't stand the taste of plain water. I use sugar free crush in orange, strawberry or grape flavor. Also sugar free hawaiian punch. Spicy food doesn't bother me at all so it really is what your own stomach will tolerate.

Wls Is Taking The Easy Way Out

If you notice most of the people that say this are very overweight themselves, so I think it is pure jealousy. My standard answer to this is "So?". There isn't much they can say to that and just look confused for a minute and then walk away. Lol. I couldn't care less what other people think, I'm at a weight and clothing size I haven't been at in several years and I'm thrilled!!
  15. My mother in law had to have about 75% of her stomach removed about 25 years ago due to bleeding ulcers and she is doing fine. I am 14 months post op and I feel great! I can eat more than at first but not NEARLY as much as pre op. For example before surgery: 4 piece Cane's chicken strip dinner, french fries, cole slaw, texas toast, sweet tea ( at least 2 glasses) and dessert. after surgery: 3-4 bites of chicken strip now: 1 chicken strip, 4-5 french fries and maybe a bite of texas toast. I feel normal in my amounts that I eat now.

My top weight was 245, surgery weight was 239 and I originally set a goal of 155 but I've been so pleased at 165 that I've been maintaining there for about 7 months now. I'm 5'7"
