    What Happened?

I was banded on 2/14/12 and had my 3rd fill on July 11th. I have been pretty tight since then and then all of a sudden on Monday I have been able to eat a lot and I just want to keep eating and really not getting the "full" feeling as I have since I've been banded. Can anyone tell me what happened or if it's normal?

    What do you do?

My surgery was first scheduled for sept 8th and then rescheduled due to some of my labs. My surgery was going to be Nov 1st. I am a christian and love Jesus with all my heart. was struggling with this too, thinking the same thing that my body is a temple created by God and although I have not took care of it I will now. I never felt at peace about the surgery so I was praying about it and 2 weeks ago I decided not to have the surgery. I feel so peaceful about my decision. I'm praying everyday for strength and wisdom. God heals sickness and diseases so I know He will help me with my weight problem. I completely agree with your dad! My dad was my best friend and I lost him 2 years ago and through all of this I kept asking myself what would my dad tell me. Pray about this before you make a decision. You will know in your heart.

    Broth.....ick ?

I tried chicken broth and it was disgusting. To me it smelled like canned dog food ( sorry if I ruined broth for anyone). All I had every day was 1 or 2 protein shakes sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello, and diet pop. The 2 first days were the hardest and then after that it was a lot easier.
  4. Hi- My surgery is scheduled Sept 8th and I am really thinking about calling today to cancel it. I have thought about it for a few days and it just really hit me. I keep thinking about all the what if's and the possible complications and it really scares me. Has anyone been banded for over 10 years? It seems like most people at sometime have to have the band removed for some reason. If you have the band removed what does that do to your stomach? I have to make my decision very soon and I really need advice and encouragement. I have been on this liquid diet since the 25th and doing really good with it and have lost 7 pounds so far! Thanks Amanda

    Please Help Me!

Guess What??? I changed my mind I am going to have the surgery!! I feel like a complete crazy woman but I was just terrified thinking about all the what if's. BUT what if I don't have any complications at all?? That would be awesome. So my surgery is still Sept 8th and I feel so much better about my decision. I'm just worried about the actual surgery part now. I'm looking for all the prayer worries to pray for me and and anyone else having a hard time with this also. Thank you all so much God Bless, Amanda

    Seminar

Hi - My surgery is Sept 8th and I'm full of emotions right now. I have researched the lapband for 8 years and thought I new everything until just a couple days ago. Then I had all kinds of questions pop up. What I would have liked to learn in my seminar which was in February. Thanks so much. Is there any damage done to the stomach from the band. How does band erosion happen and is there anything you can do to prevent it. Can your body just reject the band and if so are there any symptoms and does that happen immediately.

    Please Help Me!

They you all so much for the encouragement. I have researched this for about 8 years. I began my journey in January and going into it I have never been 100% sure that this is what I wanted to do. It was more of something that I felt that I HAD to do not only for me but for my family too. I have a wonderful husband and 3 boys that are my world. I have missed out on so much with them that I couldnt do because of my weight. I know I HAVE to lose weight NOW! But on Friday this really hit me hard and I just don't think I can do it yet, everytime I think about it I have an anxiety attack and I can't sleep at night, it's been awful. I know either way if I have the surgery or not I still need to change my eating habits and I have to exercise. All the what if's scare me and my surgeon is 2 hours away so if something happened I would have to travel 2 hours to him. I have a surgeon in my town but doesnt accept my *** insurance so I am thinking about waiting til next year and changing to PPO so I can see him if I decide to do this.
  8. My approval was quick. My dr submitted it to insurance and the next day I called my insurance and got my approval and then I had them fax it to the surgeons office the same day. I too am a very inpatient person but this whole process has taught me some patience.
  9. Hi my name is Amanda and I will be banded on Sept 8th. I thought I had all my questions answered by my surgeon, however, as the big day gets closer I have more questions. So, my question is can your body just simply reject the band as it is a foreign object? And, if so what are the symptoms or side effects of that and is it immediately after surgery?

    Band rejection

Hi and congrats to you! I will keep you in my prayers. I didn't ask my surgeon because I didn't think of it until after my appointment.

  12. I go to my pre op appointment and to get my surgery date on July 20th. YAY! I have to lose weight and am having a hard time getting motivated to do that. I have good intentions and always have a good breakfast and lunch but after work it all goes out the window. Anyways, My biggest problem and favorite food is bread and pasta.. I want to start a low carb diet such as the atkins diet. I was also told by my dr to start drinking the protein drinks. If I'm doing the low carb diet, can I still have the protein shakes? Please help! And thank you all in advance. Im hoping to lose 20 pounds before my dr appointment so I really need to get to moving.
  13. I went for my pre op appointment today. This has been a long process and I'm so happy to finally be closer to my surgery. I was nervous because at my first visit he told me I need to lose weight before I have my pre op appointment and I didnt think I lose any. I did lose 7 pounds. My surgery date is September 8th. Anyone else have surgery September 8th?

  18. Hi-My name is Amanda and I live in Rockford, IL and going to Dr. Elli in Chicago. I have my pre op appointment on July 20th and will get my surgery date then. can't wait it's been a long process with all of the appointments and tests. But I know it's all worth it. Good Luck with your pre-op diet and the surgery. It's nice to be able to talk to other people in the area.
  19. I have been researching different protein drinks before I buy them. What's the difference between protein, whey protein, isolate protein, and if there are any others? Also,is there a particular brand that's better than another? How many grams of protein should you have a day for weight loss?

    Looking for a mentor/buddy

Hi, my name is Amanda. I live about 2 hours north of Chicago. I have not had the surgery yet but should be soon. I just got my insurance approval yesterday. How are you doing since your surgery? I hope everything is going well for you.
  25. I had my last dr. appointment on Monday with Pulmonary, everything went good. My dr sent my paperwork today to my insurance for approval. I'm excited and pray that it will be approved. I began my journey on January 26th so it hasnt even been 5 months yet but it seems like it has been forever. Does anyone know how longs it takes to get a surgery date after the insurance approval? I guess it probably depends on the dr. office.
