About Me

I am 34 yo. I went to my first WL Seminar in the begginning of May 2011. With my insurance you have to participate in a 6 month program working with a dietician, RN and my family Dr. So, as long as my insurance approves it, my surgery will be in November/December of this year. My current BMI is 46 and weight is 254. I have been overweight majority of my late teen/adult life. I have tried many different things to try and lose the weight. The weight I am now is the heaviest I have ever been before. I have reflux and hypertension, borderline with my triglycerides. During these 6 months I will have an egd performed, sleep study, labwork, lots of Dr visits, and also a psych eval. I 'm sure many of you here have already been through all of that and more. I have a binder to help organize me through this journey I have started. I have been visiting many websites reading about diet pre-op and post-op, foods, nutrition, vitamins, PROTEIN, exercise, shakes, recipes, etc. I am excited and nervous. I am inspired and overwhelmed. But what I have really found, and it surprised me, is that there is so much support out there regarding this. Did I mention I am having the sleeve done? My main concern, and I'm sure it is rare, is dying during surgery, I have a 4 yr old son and could not imagine leaving him without a mommma. But he is also a part of the reason I am doing this. For him and myself. I work third shift, 12 hr shifts, at a local hospital, performing xrays and cat scans. Hope to meet some friends at this site.
