    wine, cup of coffee

I'm 8 weeks out and I went to mass this morning and took holy communion with the wine and just one sip made me feel like I would vomit. I was uncomfortable for about half an hour and then it passed. I actually had the hot flash and spinning head, crazy after just one sip! Of course I was never really a drinker before so that probably explains it. I find the foods I ate alot of before I can tolerate just fine now (salad). When Most people eat salad at my stage they say the lettuce doesn't agree with them but it does me just fine. I have always had a difficult time tolerating coffee and I tried a cold coffee the other day and it too made me feel bad. So maybe if you drank socially before and tolerated your alchohal before you will be ok....just a guess.

I Don't Know What to Eat?

I'm seven weeks out too and it's been difficult but it's like taste here and taste there and see how it goes. I'm a salad LOVER. Not being able to eat salad the past few weeks was horrible. So I decided last week to give a nibble and it went down just fine and I'm eating it with no problem (some people can't eat salad until a few months after surgery but it all depends on the person). Tonight I made braised lamb shank so it was nice a juicy and fell right off the bone, fork tender and went down smooth. I have been eating deviled eggs (made with greek yougurt and fat free mayo), peperoni sticks made from turkey (chew chew chew), cheese sticks, roasted veggies (eggplant, zucchini, asparagus , put on a baking sheet lined with foil and spray the foil with non stick spray, place the sliced veg on the foil, use a pastry brush and brush on olive oil infused with chopped garlic, sprinkle with salt and put in the oven for 12 minutes or until brown at 450 degrees) I have been eating lots of chili and Pasta fagoli....and yes I'm keeping the carbs low, under 40 grams per day and I'm not getting in enough Protein but I just can't do those shakes, they make me gag. I ate rice for a bit but I was in a 4 week stall and I began to eliminate the carbs and DRINK DRINK DRINK. The stall went away and I lost another 5 pounds like magic. Make sure you keep your carbs low, you drink over the 1.5 litre limit (go 3 litres if you can squeeze it in) eat your yougurt, cottage cheese, and fat free or low fat dairy and TAKE YOUR VITAMINES. Make sure you get your protein in first but don't skip your veggies either......I hope this helps:) Also I began walking with five pound dumbells in each hand to avoid loose skin. oh yeah I almost forgot.....DRINK DRINK DRINK!
  3. I have been stalled for about three weeks now and it's killing me. I began to monitor my carbs and am keeping a food diary but I just want to start dropping the weight again!!!

  5. I'm having such a difficult time eating slowly. I just want to gobble like I did before and I end up eating super fast and it comes right back out. This has been happening since I started soft foods and I'm getting so depressed, I just can't take a half hour to eat half a cup of food. My jaw gets tired of chewing and then my mind is craving the next bite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I went to the general doctor today to get a b12 shot. he asked why I wanted it and I explained that i'm 10 days out. He asked me why I did the surgery because i'm not that fat. I told him my bmi was 36 and I was on the verge of diabetes not to mention feeling that i have undiagnosed pcos. He said why didn't you just go on a diet to try to reduce your weight (in my mind I was thinking DUhhhh gee why didn't I think to try a DIET) i told him that I have had a weight problem all my life which has been escalating over the past few years and before it's too late I wanted to take care of it. THEN he said "wls doesn't work over time you wil just gain the weight back"!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you for real dude? i said well if I monitor myself and follow the instructions of my dietition and wls doctor I should be ok he said "ooook well you will see" I said yeah I will just give me the shot will you????

    Is this Normal???

i was always calling my doctor asking about this same thing and yes it is normal. I would agree with amanda that it's not really hunger but acid and to take an anti acid or ppi. Don't worry once you start eating soft solids or solid foods you will definately feel the restriction and then your biggest problem will be how to know when you are indeed full! It's all a learning process and you will learn and YOU WILL LOSE!
  8. I had my two week appointment to remove stitches and he told me not to take any vitamins because my fat reserves have enough for the time being. Anyone else told that???
  9. my doctor said calcium will cause kidney stones.....so Im waiting until week four which is next week and we shall see.
  10. Decided that my time in the middle east is over....will go home and am thinking of getting some foster kids.....hmmmm I really think that would be great!

  11. ahh ok then that make sense since the legs aren't showing. I know when this journey has gotten me to goal I probably will need to have my arms worked on. They have always been my main concern, wo when i look at people who have lost weight the first thing I look at is the arms and what shape they are in!!!

  12. Um I think it would be best for your health and the health of your child to wait at least a year. You have to make sure you can get the optimal nutrients to your baby and for your own sake as well because the baby will drain everything from you, I also did the surgery for this purpose but it is best to wait it out a bit for your sake and the sake of your child. You were only sleeved in April. I know it's hard to wait but it's worth the wait to see your beautiful HEALTHY baby in your arms that you can kiss and hug....*sigh* I can't wait for that day either!!!!!

    Quick pregnancy update- Pic included

Also, the ass is not flat, it's the baby tummy that creates the illusion that the ass is flat or places emphasis on the smallish bottom. You look good.

  19. there was no blood draw at all, he told me to start again at 4 weeks, but that I would over saturate my body with vitamins and cause it to stop absorbing....he said that with this surgery it is not as necessary to take vitamins as with the bypass or switch. he's not a big advocate of vitamins and says that they are marketing of doctors trying to sell vitamins....doh!

I cried at the supermarket today

I'm four days out and I feel great considering 85 percent of my stomach had been removed....anyway I'm not hungry but I began feeling dizzy. My nut allows creamed Soups, yogurt and the like after 3 days post op. So anyway I have been sucking down my soups, low fat/sugar ice cream and yougurt with Protein powder and milk mixed in (although I did not strain chunks as they were so tiny I didn't think they would hurt but maybe I should stop this) So I started drinking down broth and it really made me feel better today. I went to the market with my husband and as we were walking around the store looking at labels of what I could or couldn't have I started to look at the sugar free fat free chocolate syrup and my husband said "oh no no no you are going to waste all of that money" and I started crying like a big bluthering idiot. I kept thinking "omg how can I stand this another moment?" I am only out 4 days and I'm crying like a big baby....anyone else feel this way? also: how much damage am I doing with the yoghurt/non strained Soup thing??? My doctor was not very explicit at all (matter of fact I kind of felt like I was on a conveyer belt the day of surgery!!!). Is the fat free/sugar free chocolate sauce a bad thing? I only put a squirt on my low fat/low sugar icecream and could only eat half a cup.....
