I'm about 3 weeks post op, I started going to work middle of last week. Even though I'm just a nanny the stairs at work kill me, plus the lifting. Its always on the same side as the lapband right under the rib cage. I think its more the stairs at work, I live on a one story house and do not have a problem. It feels like I have a pulled muscle, I did not know if they cut into the ab muscles when they do this surgery, and if it was torn due to that. I have gotten to the point I'm just sick of this pain but I'm only going to work because I need the money. Is this pain normal? How much longer till it subsides?

I was wondering if everyone that has self pay had to have a counseling appointment? I was scheduled to have mine today and my surgery is next wednesday but than it got canceled because the office lady forgot to tell the counselor of the appointment. So now its scheduled for after my post op appointment. I am also wondering what they do during this appointment this is the second time they 'forgot' to tell her. I'm not depressed or anything that would come up with in the psych exam I'm pretty healthy at 36 bmi I never really eat just to eat or over indulge. I understand why one would be needed for insurance approval but I was just hoping someone could answer my questions. I just hope this is skip able.

Yeah I thought it was unnecessary! My self pay is 9900 including everything! So I don't know if its possible to have them cut this psych out! Which it probably isn't because we have to pay the surgery site the full amount than they pay the office. If not I'm probably just not going to show up the day of the appointment, that's the exact same thing she did to me! 2 hours thats too much time to be there! I could never talk to someone that long I did not know. I don't think the office thinks its that important seeing im not going till after my pro op appointment.

I'm a newbie at the forum after lurking around here for the past 2 weeks getting more information. I never really thought about doing this untill my parents were the ones that bought it up suggested I could do it and they will pay for it. My insurance does not pay for it, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be covered immediatly being only 36 bmi and being very young at age 21. I'm not very good at maintaining weightloss so I figured this would be a good alternative. My parents have had their friends do it that were their age, being new on the forum I'm looking to find more people my age to relate to.My surgery date is June 8th.

What are your restrictions? My boss said the first 2 days are the worst because your having withdraws. Do you excersise any to help with the weightloss or was it just the diet that you lost weight on? I am restricted to 2 day liquid diet before. Nervous about it drank a Protein shake today and was hungry a hour and a half later I had another one.

Self imposed Pre-op diet???

Good to know what was your diet afterwards? So far this morning I had a peach and sugar free jello for breakfast lunch I had a protein shake but I was still hungry! So I had another one, than now 2 hours later I was hungry again so I had a protein bar. Do you believe in the liver shrinking for these diets? I looked it up and its all about losing the fat around the liver aka losing weight before so its easier to come off afterwards. I am pretty active at work being a nanny we swim walk to the park, bicyling or playing tag running. Than I usually go to the gym once to twice a week so losing 8 pounds at least on a low fat diet should not be a problem. -
I use the same and I get them from sams club for about 29 dollars for a 12 back. I like mixing the instant coffee with it, it takes like a frapachino!

Wow your really close! Good luck with everything with you! I could not do a liquid diet for 2 weeks, while my boss who did it was just fine. I guess its psychological. Have you had any headaces or shakes some people talk about?

I was wanting to do a self prescribed diet, but everybody is so different on this forum some did not even have a diet. My bmi is only around 36, but I was wanting to do this to be safe during the surgery. I only eat 2 meals a day now being a college student/ worker I only eat around noon than eat around 7 or so. Never been a breakfast person, so i was thinking about doing protein shakes and one lean meal. Can someone give me the details of the total carbs I should have a day, and calories? Or give me a outline of what your diet looks like. I'm going to go full liquid protein shakes two days before my surgery. I started drinking a protein shake just now with Starbucks instant iced coffee mixed in and it tastes like a frap! Its soo good!
