Hey Shari, Hang in there slow but sure wins the race. Remember sipping and chewing slowly are the best way to change your eating habits. Sometimes it is not what we eat but how we eat that gets us in to trouble. I have been stalled for quite a while nowbut still just try to take it on meal at a time. I was sleeved 18 months ago and would do it again tomorrow if I had to to it again, it has been a life changer for me. Since you can't change what is already done go with it and let the sleeve work for you. Have you started exercising yet? I find that when I am busy or when I go for a walk I am not hungry and sometimes even forget to eat and have to remind myself, now who would have ever thought that? Hang in there and get busy!!

I agree with everyone else that has posted that has already had the surgery. i remember being on the two week liquid diet and losing weight and that starting me thinking oh this is great I can do this by myself and maybe I will not do the surgery. But luckily I came to the realization that of course I was consuming nothing but liquids and I had lost weight in the past only to pile it back on again. I had developed sleep apnea from being over weight, and it seemed everytime I went to the Dr it didn't matter what I was there for weight was getting to be an issue. My blood pressure which was always on the low side was starting to creep up to about 150 over 110. I decided to go through with the surgery and I could not be happier about the health issues that have been averted and deleted from my life but also about the way I look and feel, if i can be so vain, I love love love trying on clothes, shoes, everything. I eat whatever I want just not alot which is great for me. Only you can decide of course but don't wait til your 50 like I was if you have a chance to get a handle on things do it now so you can start living!! lyn

sorry to hear that you cannot tolerate the teas. I am able to have a cup of tea without any trouble. I used to be quite a coffee drinker but since my surgery I cannot even stomach the smell of coffee. It just turns my stomach and I almost get sick from the smell alone, very crazy. I know they said things change with us after surgery but who knew coffee and tea would be so strong. I hope youo can find a tea that tolerate since it really seems to quench my sweet tooth, yes it is still there. Good luck to you and thank you for sharing your story and symptons I'll bet other people have had the same trouble and didn't know what was happening to them.

thank you for your post. It is always nice to know that you are not alone. I have been stuck at the same weight for 3 months now. I haven't gained a pound but haven't lost anything either. I was exercising as usual but nothing was moving so I thought I should take a break and see if that helped, no it didn't, still the same. So now I have decided to embrace the 65 pounds that I have lost and get back on the exercise horse and ride it out! At least I can get better toned by the exercise even if not losing any weight. Like one of the other poster mentioned maybe this is where my body is comfortable, my surgeon never set a goal weight for me, I just always felt that I wanted to be 135 pounds so I have 15 pounds to go. I am coming up on a year anniversary next month. So maybe be the end of this summer I will have achieved "my" goal if not I will reflect on where I started and where I am today, that makes me feel good. I am starting a crossfit program after we return from easter break I am going to try it for 2 months, I will let everyone know how that goes. My treadmill was getting kind of boring. thanks again for posting I can really relate to what you had to say

I hope you decide that the sleeve is the best thing for you. I would encourage anyone young or old to look into the sleeve, it has truly been a blessing to me. I have had no complications from it what so ever. I didn't tell anyone except my husband and children about my surgery, I just didn't want to hear all their stories, I did my own research and made up my own mind. I have seen people the past 6 months or so and they always comment about how much weight I have lost. I go out for dinner and just order what ever I like and stop eating when I am full, honestly nobody really notices houw much you don't eat if you don't make a big deal about it. I have only had one person comment on the little bit of food that I eat and it was my mother in law who came to visit and STAYED with us, but she didn't even notice for the first week that she was here. I do like the fact that when you are out you can concentrate on the people and the food is secondary that is a huge plus for me. I know that you will choose what is best for you and believe me it is not the "easy way out" your whole life is ahead of you and you will be a much healthier person for it.

wow, what a blessing for you regard to your daughter. Funny how your husband decided against joining in, it would have been easy for the whole family. My husband joined me on the liquid diet part for the 4 weeks and then the mushy stage and he lost 30 pds and I didn't even think he had that much to lose. Are you both doing well with the sleeve, I would imagine the younger the person the easier it is to lose is that what you have found?
