Surgeon Abandoned his Patients - Dr. Eric Pinnar
tuggers replied to emily_0192010's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I'd read everything about his Virginia fiasco but here he's in with Dr Cywes so I felt like it was okay. I saw Cywes, then Pinnar one time. He banded me because I have an insurance that requires surgery in a hospital with a certificate of excellence in bariatric surgery and I needed to be done at Jax Memorial Hospital. I was banded 6/23, have lost 25 pounds in a month and have my first aftercare appt tomorrow with Dr Cywes. All my aftercare is scheduled with him. I feel great, my incisions look good and I'm a happy camper! JMO! -
I was banded 6/23. After surgery I was told that I had a hiatal hernia and that he had repaired it. I felt some tightness in my chest post surgery and assumed it was from the repair. Doing fine now. This was my second surgeon as the first turned out to be a dud. Don't give up! Get another opinion and another doctor if necessary!

My first Post-Op posting
tuggers replied to Ellie Belle's Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 23rd, stayed over night in hospital (my insurance companies rule). I live 2 hours from the hospital and that wore me out a little. I took one dose of pain meds before I left the hospital, one when I came home and one the next night before bad. Didn't really need the last dose but thought it might help me sleep. The gas pains are still with me near my shoulder and they are wicked!! While I've been very hungry, the abdominal pain has been minimal. I have no energy but I think that's because I'm on clear fluids. Tomorrow I can start full liquids so I think I will feel much better then. I was surprised that my surgeon told my friend who was waiting for me that my band was one of the easiest he has done in a long time. She told him that I had followed the diet to a T and he said it showed. So do some people go through all this hassle (at least my insurance route was a tooth and nail fight) and then not follow the first instructions??? Unbelievable! Can't wait to be able to eat and actually chew something! Oh well, it will happen soon enough. BTW, I'm still having trouble sleeping. Doesn't seem to be pain waking me up, I just leek at the clock about every two hours. -

I just lost a LONG post so this is the abbreviated version. Please excuse the errors but I still have not put my contacts back in and I am half blind with these glasses! Drove to Jacksonville Memorial yesterday. Surgery scheduled for 12:15 and they hit it real close. Hardest part (and this was specific to me because of a previously broken neck) was them putting the tube down my throat while I was still awake. Next thing I knew I was in recovery, then taken to my room. That night I had jello and water, the next morning I had water and a Popsicle. I have to be on clear fluids but the doctor said I could try canned protein drinks like Low Crab Slimfast or Atkins tommorow. If that goes well I can do the regular protein shakes made in a blender as long as I let them sit to lose the air blending incorporates. I'm sore but not too bad. He had to repair a hiatle hernia so I have some real tightness between my breasts. I am walking just fine and taking my liquid pain meds. They taste awful so I had it flavored. Wasn't too much of an improvement! All in all I'm doing great and feeling okay. Just hungry! BTW the doctor told my friend that my surgery was one of the easiest he had done in some time. She told him I had really stuck to the diet and he said he could tell! Something to think about when you are looking at that Oreo cookie! -

Well I've had nothing but liquids since Monday and its not getting any better. Can't imagine doing this for two weeks. Chicken broth is good but sure doesn't fill me up! Leaving home tomorrow at 7AM, have to be at the hospital at 10, surgery scheduled for 12:15. I know he's going to keep me over nite because of the sleep apnea. Hopefully, I can go home on Friday. Not looking forward to another week on clear liquids but I guess I'll survive! -

Hi everyone! My band date is the 23rd. That seems to be a popular day for surgery! I live in South Georgia but am having surgery done in Jacksonville because my insurance requires a Certificate of Excellence in Bariatrics. Little freaked because I have a fusion in my neck which limits my mobility and the anesthesiologist says he wants to put the tube down my throat prior to sedation. I keep telling myself that I fought tooth and nail to get this surgery and I can do this. It's still scary. I did low carb for two weeks and now I am on liquids for 2 1/2 days before surgery. I came out of WalMart (went to get jello - big whoo) and smelled the Chinese restaurant and almost went down on one knee it smelled so good! This too shall pass!
