    What a pain...

Sounds like the pain would be at your port rather than your band. If you only had your unfill today then I would suggest doing liquids for a day or two to let your band and stomach settle down. If you have any questions, get on to your dr as he/she can give you the best advice. Take care.

Cereal and the Lap Band ?

I make my own Bircher Muesli. It's a great way to start the day after a workout.

    Question?

Fat is a good insulator so it's not surprising that we feel colder as we lose that fat.
  4. I'm with Honk. You may be coming down with a cold or something that like that affects your taste buds. I have had a miserable head cold for the last three weeks (almost better now) and my sense of taste has been way off. Nothing to do with the band, just a cold.
  5. Being cold is definitely a side effect of losing weight. All that insulating fat is disappearing so it is harder to get warm and stay warm. Layer up with the clothes. Good luck.

    Does decaf dehydrate you?

If you are drinking plenty of Water, then decaf/coffee shouldn't be a problem in terms of dehydration. Just be aware of any calories from milk/cream/sugar that you add to your coffee. Good luck.

    Please Be Respectful!

    Well said.
  8. Having a goal to work towards is a great idea but make sure that you set yourself realistic goals otherwise you are simply setting yourself up for failure.

    Does exercise tighten the band?

Your band is an artificial device inside your body. The only effect that exercise will have on it is a by-product of the effect of exercise on your body. As you lose weight you will lose the pad of fat around your stomach and your band will actually become looser. good luck on your journey

    Worried

Good news is that you are perfectly normal for your post-op stage. That doesn't make it any easier, but it does mean that your journey is progressing. Hang in there, follow the rules and enjoy the benefits down the track.

    Mucus Runs My Band

Wow, that sounds really miserable. If you have a constant mucus problem, perhaps you could consider loosening your band slightly to allow you to still eat? Worth discussing with your dr, at least. I have a summer cold at the moment and my band got very tight in the early days, to the point where I was going to phone my dr for a slight unfill.
  12. I needed that today! I had already given myself a virtual boot up the bu.... because I had let myself use excuses to eat crap today. Your post simply reinforces the message I was giving myself. Thanks.

    cna job and lapband

In your role you would certainly understand the importance of not going back to work and overdoing it too soon after surgery. I haven't heard of any method for healing more quickly after surgery. please take care of yourself.

    Can't believe i did that...

Congratulations! Good luck with your first fill. I am wondering why you need a three day liquid diet BEFORE your fill? My dr only requires it for 24 hours afterwards.

    Running question

At five weeks you are still healing so don't overdo it at this stage or it will set you back. Suggest you ask your dr.

    First fill!!

Best of luck with your fill. Not wanting to be the Debbie Downer (maybe Realistic Rita?), but don't be disappointed if you do not experience restriction with your first fill. it typically takes multiple fills to reach that stage.

    Leaking Band

Sorry, I'm confused. Your insurance will cover the repair?

    lots and lots of quesitons!

Somethings, like the size of my band, I left to my surgeon's expertise to decide. I stayed in hospital overnight and was glad for the care in that time. Good luck.

    fills to kick in?

First up, there is no need to heal from a fill. Your doctor may tell you to go on liquids or mushies for a day or two but that is all. As for how long it takes for a fill to kick in - that varies from immediate to a couple of weeks and also depends on things like how much you already had in your band, how much was added, and sometimes even temperature and other health issues. For example, my last fill in November seemed to have no effect until about two weeks ago when it seemed that it had come into effect incredibly rapidly. I was even looking for a window in my diary to ask my surgeon for a slight unfill. But it turned out I was also developing a cold and as my cold progressed (still coughing!), my band settled down and I while I definitely have more restriction, I am no longer feeling too tight.
  20. on the food front, you could stock up on fresh fruit to carry in the truck.

    My first plateau, an observation....

OP - sounds like you have got your head screwed on right! Realistic about the band and your expectations. You are setting yourself up for success!
  22. Being nervous before surgery is normal. Not knowing what to expect is concerning. Take this time to educate yourself about your surgery and how the band works. Look beyond the surgery and learn about how you live with the band so that you know what to expect, how and what to eat, etc etc. Negativity about the band - again, lack of education. The better educated that you are, the better you can educate those around you about it. Good luck.

What are you most looking forward to?

LOL! This is so timely. My husband and I were chatting last night and we kept hearing an irregular clinking noise. After about 10 minutes of hunting for the source of this strange noise, we realised that my rings had become so loose that they were twisting on my fingers and clinking against each other!

baby bump too big too soon?

Could be multiple birth! I think all women show differently, even with different pregnancies. If you are really worried, have your doctor check. Best wishes with your pregnancy.

Band feels as if its sticking me

Banded almost two years and still feel my port when pressure applied e.g. tighter fittign pants can put pressure on my port.
