Good move contacting your dr for advice! Hope it all settles down for you soon.

Doc not willing 2/c me
SageTracey replied to Leslie80's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like a difficult situation but as Missy says, follow up with a surgeon is a key part of ensuring your success. Can you come to some arrangement with a local surgeon to do your op and follow up? On another note, I am so glad that this situation is much rarer in Australia! -
I love that today I was disappointed that our bike ride was about 15km SHORTER than I was expecting! Pre-band I wouldn't even get on my bike, now I just love going further and further.

Help!! Do I Give The Old Clothing Away????
SageTracey replied to shrcumm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Keeping my fat clothes would be like giving myself permission to get fat again. No way! All fat clothes are gone. -

The risk with carbonated drinks for bandsters is the potential to stretch your pouch. One off (three drinks) for a colonoscopy should be fine but you could always phone your medical team and check. Good luck.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what your question is. From your topic title I thought you were asking when you would get your first fill but from your post I am not sure whether you are asking whether your weight loss is normal, whether it's normal to get 4cc in your first fill or even whether you are stating that you got 4cc in your band during surgery. There are plenty of very helpful people on this site who can help answer your questions if we know exactly what you are asking. Good luck.

Stress and emotion can affect the tightness of my band, so can being sick, e.g. with a head cold. Good luck.

I hate exercise for the sake of exercise too. The idea of sitting on an exercise bike in the lounge or in a gym is brain dead boring and there's no way I can push myself beyond the comfort level doing that. But......then I discovered there were activities that I enjoyed and the more I did them the more I enjoyed them and the more exercise I got. I love to go dancing with my husband - there's nothing like 1950s style rock n roll to really get the arms and legs moving and the heart pumping. And the more I dance, the more other guys in our group ask me to dance and the more exercise I get. I love to go walking with my husband because that's when we have some of our best talks. I love to go cycling with my husband and friends and we push each other to go further, longer, faster. And now that I have an underwater MP3 player, I really find swimming to be very relaxing and I am doing longer distances and times. So, look for activities that you enjoy and make them a normal part of your daily life. The exercise becomes incidental and enjoyable.

Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion and as such may not be your opinion. I am not attacking anyone or even seriously expecting people to change what they do because this is about my opinion which is as equally valid as yours! I find it very difficult to read posts that are formatted with pretty pale pink fonts tiny type or centred I also find it difficult to read posts that are written in text talk, with lots of spelling and/or grammar mistakes. I guess that is what comes of being a formally trained writer who is, gulp, turning 50 this year.

Awesome! Great to see responses in the same light-hearted "you don't have to do it my way" style as I was aiming for in my original post. Just goes to show that we really can all get along if we just play nicely. :P :P

Not unless you have some other concerns to discuss with your doctor. You are unlikely to feel restriction with your first fill. It typically takes several fills. Until then, just keep on following your dr's rules and you will reach your goals.

I shared this on another site but wanted to share it with you too!
SageTracey replied to lapbandkeira's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like an NSV to me. Congratulations and thank you for sharing. -
Of course people should see their Dr but don't forget that with mobile devices these days, people could be posting while on their way to their Dr or we.

I think it helps to find something or things that you enjoy. That way you find yourself more willing to make time for them and to keep them up. For me it's dancing (rock n roll 1950s style), cycling, swimming and walking.

Your friends who love to eat cannot support your new eating practices if they don't know. True friends will support you doing something you believe in so strongly and which is for the purpose of improving your health. Give them the chance to show their support and understanding. Please note: that is said with the benefit of hindsight. Pre-surgery I only told family. Post surgery I told my best friend because I wanted/needed her support, plus we were going on a working road trip together. She has been 100% supportive.

How can I get my family to support me?
SageTracey replied to MileHighDreamer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are right to try and get some family support. It is invaluable on this journey. Can I suggest you just try to get one person on side with you so that they can be your support? then others may or may not follow but you will always have one person to fall back on. It may help if you can document the issues that your current weight is causing you e.g. hypertension, sleep apnoea, diabetes, arthritis, whatever. and tell them that you need/deserve a better quality of life and that is what you are working towards. Best of luck. -
Considering the "Advise of Others"
SageTracey replied to Sojourner's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hear, hear. And people who write posts asking for advice should not be offended when members tell them to call their dr. We don't say it to be mean or to try and bolster the medical profession. We say it out of genuine concern for the issue/query that the poster has raised. - and because we are not medical professionals. -
life duration of the band ? 3 years ?
SageTracey replied to Dzire's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
elcee took the words right out of my mouth! -
You should really check the guidelines that your medical team gave you (or should have given you), but what you are experiencing is completely normal. As you heal post surgery and the swelling reduces, you will find yourself able to eat more. This doesn't necessarily mean that you should eat more and that is why your medical team's instructions are so important. Good luck with your first fill but know also that it will probably take several fills before you feel the band starting to do its work.

Yike! Rash on my belly!
SageTracey replied to 1fitmama13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you spoken to your doctor? that would be my first step. -
It will get better. Try different sleeping positions, including the recliner. Hang in there.
