Sorry to hear your experience! I have never had numbing with a fill and have never felt the fluid running through the port - but then I wouldn't expect to either once the needle is in the port. Good luck with getting another fill with numbing first.

WTG! You look awesome. Bet you feel great, too.

I hope this helps - you are NORMAL! Your body has been through an anaesthetic and a surgery which equals trauma. You are losing weight and going through a major lifestyle change = emotional trauma. Hang in there and focus on the positives, if you can. But truly, what you are feeling now is perfectly normal.

Eat his dried deer steak and then PB it all back up over him! Some people don't believe what they can't see. Just joking, but sounds like your buddy is a ****** bag!

Great to hear you have taken care of yourself. Work your way back up slowly and remember that this is for life i.e. a marathon and not a sprint. Best of luck.

What Nsv's (Non-Scale Victories) Are You Looking Forward To?
SageTracey replied to Wisdom2KnowTheDifference's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Due to circumstances, I walked through town this morning wearing my cycling lycra and I didn't feel self conscious at all! Oh, and then I rode 64km (40miles) -
Sounds to me as though you may be too tight.

I know what you mean! I ended up in the ER twice with a bowel infection and was sent home both times without proper testing (beyond telling me I had an infection) and without antibiotics. They simply managed my pain and were amazed at how much I had lost with the band. My surgeon operates out of that hospital and was furious the next day when I saw him on an emergency appointment and he learned what they HADN'T done for me. Surely when a patient presents with something that may be a complication of a band, they should at least phone the surgeon for advice. As for failing to treat a diagnosed infection, that is just plain wrong.

A lot of us get a period off cycle with the weight loss before surgery so it seems to be quite normal for us to end up on the table with our period. That means the surgeon and staff have seen it all before, so nothing to worry about.

Not Hungry Vs. Full
SageTracey replied to Missy05.29.12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Feeling full to me is when I simply couldn't fit in another mouthful. Not feeling hungry is when I have eaten enough to feel satisfied, even though I could continue to stuff more food in until I was full. It's a tough lesson to learn. -
How long you take off depends on how you handle the anaesthetic, recover from the surgery and whether your job is physically demanding or not. I took two weeks off and am glad that I did. I was banded on a Wednesday and went to a concert on the Sunday night - not a good idea. Would have had my surgery after the concert but my surgeon said I would be fine.

Hospital Stay? Out Of Work?
SageTracey replied to Krolso's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was overnight in hospital then had two weeks off. Probably could have gone back after a week with the actual surgery but the anaesthetic always knocks me around. -
That barely seems enough to get by on a daily basis, especially for a man. I would expect you would need more than that if you are also exercising. I am female, exercising, losing weight and vary between 1400 and 2000 (big exercise days) per day.

I'm not sure whether you can at 11 days post op. I know that I didn't and certainly didn't even feel like it at that stage, although I have the occasional drink now.

10 Days In And Feeling Low! Scared If Failing!
SageTracey replied to kells31's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It gets better, I promise. For example - today I had to work for the seventh consecutive day in a row. If this had happened 15 months ago (i.e. pre-band), I would have struggled miserably out of bed, had a heavy breakfast and driven into the office. Instead, I bounced out of bed because going into work meant that I could get another commute ride in, 30km on my bicycle. My boss provided lunch for the four of us working today (including herself), and I left more than one-third of it because I was satisfied. 15 months ago I would have wolfed it down, accepted her offer of a coffee, and then grabbed a chocolate bar to finish it all off. Now - lunch break is over so I have to get going on those reports! Hang in there and look forward to enjoying and celebrating your success. -
I drink coffee every day. In fact, I was never told by my surgeon or medical team that I could not drink it or needed to limit it.

New Here..lots Of Questions
SageTracey replied to knknosmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome. I can't offer you advice on the process you will need to follow to get to surgery as I am in Australia and it is different. But I will reiterate what others have said - loose skin is a lot less unattractive and infinitely healthier for you than being morbidly obese. I have lost 62kg (about 135lb) and, yes, I have loose skin on my stomach, upper arms and thighs. It doesn't look great but most of the time it is covered by clothing so is less visible to others than my fat ever was! I may or I may not have it dealt with surgically in the future. At the moment I am focussed on reaching a healthy weight and maintaining it for the rest of my life. Good luck on your journey to health. -
I Hit My Stomach!
SageTracey replied to Courtney Danielle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't done that but most likely you have just bumped a tender area, maybe a bit of bruising. If the pain is bad, doesn't subside or you are really worried, call your dr. Better to have peace of mind than a problem that could have been resolved quickly and easily but wasn't. -
Your employer can refuse you sick leave? Really? You are having surgery. You need proper recovery time and I am sure you are entitled to sick leave. With such a physical job, ,you need proper recovery time.

Food=Energy. How To Exercise On So Few Calories.
SageTracey replied to radarluv's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a 2,000 calorie day today to fuel a big workout day - 100 mins on my bike plus 45 mins non-stop lap swimming. You are right. Our bodies need fuel to exercise. I still burnt more than I took in but definitely needed the fuel for my burn. -
No Loss 2 Months / And Left Upper Abdominal Pain

Glad to hear you are seeing your doctor, best place for advice on moving forward. -
See your doctor and see him/her ASAP. You mention being like this for more than three months. Who knows what damage could be happening to your body in that time! Please, see your doctor!
-
Been there, done that and you have my sympathy! I ended up at the ER twice because the first time it wasn't diagnosed. Hope you are feeling better quickly. Keep a watch on your warning signs and act quickly to prevent it getting too bad if you get a recurrence. High fibre diet will help

A sip such as a toast will be fine so long as you are not on any medication. You don't say when you are being/were banded, so little difficult to be more specific. If you are still on liquids or mushies then best you speak to them in advance so they can cater for your special dietary requirements. Enjoy the wedding!
