    Wanting To Finally Live

Great idea to have goals to work towards. Try to set some short and medium term goals as well and be sure to plan some non-food celebrations as you achieve each one.

    Always Constipated/never Poop!

Plenty of water and good long walk.

    Pb County?

LOL! I read your topic title as PB (Productive Burp) County and thought you were having issues with productive burping. Hope you find someone local to meet up with.
  4. Your port doesn't need to heal. It is a part of the overall band that will always be there. I could feel mine from day one, although it is somewhat more prominent now!

    Earlier Surgery Date!!

I assume you mean you want to be at goal by 8/27/2013? 2012 is just a few days past your surgery date. Regardless, congratulations and I am sure you will reach your goal.

    Gym Nightmare

Definitely take care of your knee and be assertive with your trainer. You know how your body is feeling and when it is reaching its limit. Yes, you want the trainer to push you, but not until you break down. On the other hand, if you are able to be motivated without a trainer, there is plenty of exercise you can do on your own, especially in the early days. My favourites are dancing, cycling, walking and swimming (and I just wish this ear infection would hurry up and clear so I can get back in the pool!)

    Help Need Advice

So your doctor told you not to take pills but you did it anyway? I seriously doubt that you have done any damage but you should call your dr surgery anyway. And follow your dr's instructions, after all, he/she is the trained, experienced professional.
  8. Can they do that? Surely if they approve it and you incur a bill based on their written approval, they cannot possibly back out. But I am in Australia so don't know how things go in America.....

    Picture :(

Absolutely! The trick now is to turn it into a positive. Just after I was banded, my son announced his engagement. I look disgustingly huge in his engagement photos but I set a goal to look gorgeous in his wedding photos and I did. My profile photo is of my husband and myself dressed for our son's wedding. I got so many compliments on my dress and how much weight I had lost, it really made me feel fantastic. So hang in there and make this a motivation for you!
  10. Sounds like mindless eating rather than food addiction. One of the tips with the lap band is to concentrate on eating so that you experience it fully and appreciate it. Plus, you will hear/feel your full signals better if you are not doing anything else but eating. That includes the computer, television, games, reading and sometimes even just talking with friends.
  11. Sorry to hear you have been through such a tough time. I'm not going to try and offer medical advice or anything because this isn't the place for that. I just hope you are able to get the care and support that you need to get some improved quality of life.

Help Im A Failure At Lap Band

Seeing a shrink, as you called it, is a great first step to identifying and dealing with your underlying issues that are blocking you from success. Good luck.

    Hope I Haven't Goofed!

I read that manipulating the liver during band surgery is like trying to move a bowl of jello with chopsticks so I think that anything we can do to make the surgeon's job easier is definitely worth doing to the best of our ability! Plus, i know my surgeon has cancelled someone's surgery, after starting, because they didn't follow the pre-op diet and shrink their liver. I know because he postponed one of my fill appointments and explained what had happened when I was rescheduled.

    Restriction Is Strange

Or you could just be getting used to restriction and not "feeling" it as much as you did in the beginning.

    Dizziness And Passing Out

Go to your dr. Sounds to me as though you are more likely to have issues on your vacation if you don't go to your dr than if you do! Go to your dr. Go to your dr. Go to your dr. Go to your dr.Go to your dr. Go to your dr.Go to your dr. Go to your dr. Go to your dr. Go to your dr. Go to your dr. Go to your dr. I suspect you understand my position on this!

Is It Alother Slip Or Just A Quirk?

Go to your dr! Your health is much too important and the likelihood of long term damage is too great to leave this. Personally, I think the American health care system is terrible when I read of so many people having to pay so much to see a dr! I think the last time I paid anything to see a dr was when I had my surgery 16 months ago and that was a total of about $1,000 excess for the anaesthetist after my health insurance. I want to see my GP, I make an appointment and she bulk bills the government. I see my surgeon. I make an appointment and he bulk bills the government. I never have to make a health care decision based on cost! Rant over.

    Possibly Dumb Question

Have a back up plan in place, just in case. Even if you make it to school okay, you may find the walk home a bit too much.
  20. This would be a question best asked of your surgeon. I expect you will not be able to do any lifting or heavy work for at least six weeks. Better to take care of yourself in the healing phase than to overdo it and cause yourself new issues.

    I Give Up

I recommend that you get back to your medical team and tell them with complete honesty how you are feeling and ask for their help. I'll bet that they have had plenty of patients go through your same feelings and I'll also bet that they have tools and systems to help you get back on track. Motivation is a tough thing to rely on for the rest of our lives. It's great for getting us started and through the difficult pre and post-op periods, but after that, it tends to wane. Better to be looking at a lifestyle change. Good luck, but don't give up.

    New* Lapband Help

Isn't it weight loss that cures Type 2 diabetes regardless of the method of weight loss? What ever choice you make, never ever feel guilty about taking action for your own good health!

    Pre-Surgery Eating Habits

I cut my food into tiny pieces before I start eating. That way, even if I do get distracted, I can still only pick up a tiny piece. I use a regular knife and fork for my mains but always a teaspoon for anything that is eaten with a teaspoon. I get stuck if I eat too quickly, usually from letting myself get over-hungry, or if the meat is too dry. It's not pleasant but is a very effective learning experience!

    Observation....

I agree it is because people are used to seeing us fat. But I did get sick of one of my husband's cousin's telling me that I had lost too much weight and needed to stop. I tried explaining that my BMI meant I was still obese, not overweight, but obese. She persisted until I told her that I would stop losing weight when I was as slim as her. She is tall and a weight that looks healthy (I don't know how much she weighs so can't be sure). But she suddenly stopped harassing me!

    Second Fill And In Pain

Call your dr and check. All drs have different guidelines for eating after a fill but you may be a little tight.
