PLEASE RESPOND. . .YOUR INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
SageTracey replied to Banditiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you on full solids yet? If so, I would suggest adding more solids to your diet such as protein (fish, chicken etc) as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. An apple doesn't have many calories but is great at helping me to feel satisfied for longer (plus it is great fibre). -
Quick bounce back?
SageTracey replied to DebbieC1970's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on a Wednesday and went to a concert on the Sunday - and wish I hadn't. Even though it was a sit down affair, it really was too much for me at that stage. -
also consider setting yourself some non-scale goals e.g. being able to walk a certain distance in a certain time by x date. Reward yourself when you achieve goals - NON-FOOD rewards! Some of my goals were to look awesome at my son's wedding, to do the Great Victorian Bike Ride, to wear a size 14 top. So far I have achieved all of them, although I didn't get to complete the ride due to a crash on day. along the way I have rewarded myself with a new watch, lotto tickets, dress (for my son's wedding) and most recently, a new bicycle. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

First fill followed by first stuck episode.
SageTracey replied to LoLo9826's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
congratulations on learning your lesson about chewing, sorry it had to be the hard way! Re the bruise after filling - that could just be something you have to live with. I have never had a bruise after a fill. Perhaps you bruise more easily? Merry Christmas! -
Hi and welcome. I'm in Australia too. I've lost 63kg and my family are thrilled (as am I!) I can now do whatever they are doing, and sometimes more. I am happier, healthier and they will have me around for a whole lot longer. It is definitely worth taking care of yourself, even if it does cost. Good luck.

Morning ladies, I'm also an Aussie, about 90 minutes east of Melbourne. I was banded 13 April 2011 and have lost 63kg so far. Would like to lose about another 10 but am not in any great rush at the moment. I cannot believe how good I feel every day now, compared to feeling sick and miserable so much of the time before. I'm also on myfitnesspal if you want to friend me there. I find it really helpful to keep track of my calories, especially because I have turned into something of an exercise junkie. Best of luck to you both with your journey.

Help- what are the staples that I MUST have post op?
SageTracey replied to finallytime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Patience and realistic expectations. You won't wake up 25, 50 lbs lighter, you will experience pain and probably suffer miserably for a while with gas, you will get sick of the liquids phase, the mushies phase, you may regain some weight when you move to solids, this isn't a quick fix, it's a lifestyle change. Plus everything that everyone else has mentioned. Good luck because it is definitely worth it in the long run. -
There's a lesson in there for all of us! Glad you are feeling better now.
-
Best to ask your medical team for their specific guidelines because they do vary from practice to practice! That said, my surgeon doesn't have any rules about not eating or drinking beforehand but wants me on mushies for 24 hours after a fill. Good luck and travel safe.

silly success again..

Just remember to also THROW OUT those old fat gal panties cos there is nothing worse than grabbing a pair of knickers from the drawer in the morning and then spending all day hitching them up because you didn't throw out the big ones. -
A lot of people find that their band is tighter in the morning and gets looser as the day progresses. It seems that a warm drink can help loosen it up so that you can eat in the morning.

The Devil Always wants to Rear Its Ugly Head!!!

This is definitely a tough time of the year! I've upped the ante on my exercise to counter those moments when I weaken. Let's all hang in there together this holiday season! -
6 weeks Post Op-No Fill
SageTracey replied to papajsk's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your weight loss so far! Whether or not you get a fill on January 4 will be a decision made between you and your doctor. Weight loss is only one part of that decision making process. My surgeon and I always discuss how much I am eating, how long before I feel hungry (physically hungry, not head hunger), and whether I have any difficulties with any foods. Sometimes I know, going into the appointment, that I don't need a fill and I say so. Sometimes I think I might need a fill but he explains that I don't and other times we agree on giving me a fill and whether it should be small or larger. Work with your team to make sure that you get the best results that you can. -
It's difficult to imagine right now, but, yes, that pain will soon go away. Hang in there. You can do this!
-
You mentioned that you are not exercising as you should - perhaps you have already identified an area that you can focus on to achieve the results you are looking for. Good luck and hang in there!

HELP one week since band
SageTracey replied to Startingover2012new's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may help to know that everything you have described is perfectly normal. You are not alone, just living in the real world where you do not have access to many people, if any, who have been through the same experience. At least here you have our virtual support! Hang in there, it will get better and soon. I promise -
Mentioned the LapBand to my PCP for the first time today...
SageTracey replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations. And best wishes for your surgeon's appointment tomorrow. It always interests me to learn about how the healthcare system works in different countries. In Australia we require a referral letter from our GP (PCP) just to get to that first appointment with the surgeon! Sounds as though you are able to approach a surgeon directly without this intermediary step. -
Find something that you enjoy, preferably multiple things and then you will find yourself motivated to get going.
-
I only ever hear from my surgeon's office if they need to change an appointment or something like that. What were you expecting to hear from them? It would be good for you to explain your expectations next time you are there. Best wishes.
-
Wow! That is horrendous! I am stunned that they can reverse a decision after the fact. Yo made medical decisions based on their advice and now they expect you to wear a whopping great bill like that!!! I am really sorry for your situation and hope you are able to get some resolution quickly. Thank goodness the Australian healthcare system does not operate like this!

Did he have you drink a glass of Water after the fill to see how it went down? If you couldn't get water down then you are too tight. Otherwise, follow any instructions he gave you re soft foods for the next day or two etc and give it time. From reading your post, it doesn't sound as if you have any actual signs of being too tight, just that you are concerned that you may be because he added the extra 2cc. Good luck and if you do have any concerns, contact your doctor.
-
I have flown multiple times since being banded and have found that it does not affect my band at all. This could be something that varies between people so just see how you go. It's good that you have spoken to your doctor about it and that you have his/her advice to work with.

Help! Throwing Up Brown/black Fluid.....
SageTracey replied to YeyaNavarro's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Best wishes. -
Doesn't sound likely to be band-related. Have you had tightness in your back following other colds?
