    Are journals gone for good?

Hey, was it decided if the journals are gone for good? I use mine to post information, ideas, suggestions that I read. Please let me know if they are gone forever, or will they be back?
  2. Evening everyone, Sara- Congrats on the exercise!!! I agree w/ Terri though, go slow. I have bone spurs in my feet, so I can't do extensive walking. I do 30 min on the stationary bike, which equals 5 miles (a little over 5 this week). My goal is just the 30 min...30 min...30 min....(I just keep telling myself that)! For me, it is great circulation, I can really feel the blood pumping. Before surgery I would do 10 min, then do 20 min of weight machines. (The elipticle (sp) thingy almost killed me). Anyway, what ever you are doing, listen to you body, and have fun w/ it. What i liked about what you said is the constant change up. That will prevent you from getting bored. And remember that once you quit for good, things will be easier as far as exercise. For all our friends having pain this weekend, take care and take your pain meds. I was told by both the surgeon and my primary that it is important to take the pain meds, when needed, to help w/ healing. When the body is struggling w/ pain, the healing is slower. (Just thought I'd share that). Enjoy your evening everyone...remember, May is almost here, and then we are all well on our way!!! Congrats 396...speedy recovery!!!
  3. Hi Everyone, Househuntress, I just made lasagne (thanks to everyone for some wonderful ideas), which will feed many and myself. I am not gonna do any pasta, rice or bread...just would rather not (heard to many a bad story). Anyway, quiche, lobster bisque, meatloaf, stew (blended for you) were some of the great suggestions from this thread. Also, on the food thread there are many ideas and suggestions for all stages. I had to read so much this morning, forgot what I've read. Lunasa, welcome back!!! Sara- did you quit smoking???? I think I read that you did, or were going to. I had to quit before surgery, so believe me...I know. I loved it, and thought I was gonna be sooooo mean w/out it. But, I don't miss it. I guess I just focused my attention on my weight loss. I got my charm bracelet yesterday. It is soooo pretty. It looks a little empty w/ only 1 charm, but that is my motivation to get some more pounds off. I will buy one charm every 5 pounds off, but will wait until 10 pounds then buy 2 (save on shipping). Anyway, I just love it. It really means a lot to me, so personal. QUESTION: What is with the bad breath. My DP said it is different, almost chemical or acidic. Is this ketosis? Is anyone else having trouble w/ this? Please help/advise...can't chew gum forever!:speechles
  4. I like shrinking violets...the name reaffirms our mission!!!! Add this to the list.
  5. Hi Ladies, I like all of the aforementioned names. Once we get all the nominations, we could take a poll to elect one...that would be very democratic of us. As far a protein goes, here is what I do. I mix choc. Unjury in w/ coffee (20 grams in the am). Tastes great w/ the hazelnut coffee beans I grind...yummy! I like this because it is like a mean first thing in the morning, and gets my metabolism running. Then breakfast is 4-6 oz of yougart, (Dannon lite and fit,) 1/2 c. skim milk and 1 scoop of Strawberry unjury (20 gr. prot). Then I make a protein drink w/ some powder my doc sells, LiteLife (15 gr. prt). The rest I get from cottage cheese or whatever is mushie. What I like about this is that it is done for me, not a lot of thought needed. Just my 2 cents.
  6. My stomach muscles hurt so bad. I am tempted to call the doctor, but am way toooo embarrassed. Guess I will just have to wait this out. I was hoping someone could tell me it goes away? Tracy, I had a mom like that. Then when she got sick, I took care of her for 8 years before she passed 2 1/2 years ago. SHE DROVE ME CRAZY FOR 37 YEARS...but now she is gone, I miss her. Take a deep breath, and smile...she is your mom...gotta love/deal w/ her...it is written in the mom/daughter contract. A wonderful book reccommedation on the subject is My Mother/My Self by Nancy Friday. Have a great day!
  7. What is with the top right sides of our posts, there is a green box, I have a little guy and something called rep power:1. Some have rep power 0. Anyone know??? when you click on the box, it say "kity is on a distinguished road" ???????????????????????????????:guess
  8. Hi Everyone, I mean no offensive. Please forgive me in advance for my R rated post, but this is important. I had 2 Lapband firsts tonight: 1. Lots of sex! 2. Dinner in a resturaunt. (In that order, and notice where the exclamation point is). Anyway, starting w/ number 1. Well, um, everytime I climaxed, it hurt my port site. After about 6 or 7, I was dying, my stomach muscles hurt at the port site. I finally raised the white flag and had to quit. The pain got worse w/ each one. Has anyone else had this and more importantly, does it go away after I heal more. Sorry to be so, well, you know, but sex is an important part of life, and I was not happy (well, I guess happy is not the right word) with the first experience. Number 2 was great. I was starving from number 1, and ordered salmon, mashed pots and cottage cheese, instead of carrots (yuck). Needless to say I have a bunch of food for tomorrow, but it was great. It felt great to just be out, like other people. I made the salmon really wet w/ tarter and the pots w/ au jus (sorry for my preop friends, but this is exciting). All in all it was a great night, but the pain in #1. Would like to know if this happens to others, and again more importantly if it goes away!:embarassed:
  9. Terry, That is why I asked. The golf ball stories are scarry. I am sure I will have it in my life, but am trying to avoid it. Thanks!
  10. I had a thought: Scarry, I know. If I made lasagne or a pasta dish, can I put my small peice in the Magic Bullet. I have heard some scarry stories about pasta (much to my dismay), but what if I blend the pasta into a lasagne soup (should still taste the same). Any thoughts?
  11. Thanks Kat, Wow, now I am starving as I finish my breakfast shake of 4oz of yougart, strawberry Unjury and 1/2 cup of skim milk, lol. I never thought about eating the stuff you mentioned. I did have 1/2 cup of refried beans w/ a little cheddar on, OMG, they were sooo good. I like the lasagne idea, I did buy riccotta and I make a mean sause (I am Italian). She likes meat and potatos...and gravy. She is German (came to USA when she was 20, so like, REALLY German). She hates salad, veggies, and anything low cal. Yes, she is a perfect size 10 (I know, we have a word for people like her...lol). I hate meatloaf, and don't know how to make it but that might be good, w/ gravy and mashed pots. All I know is that I am really hungry now. I appreciate the ideas.
  12. Good Morning Everyone, Sara- HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. Here is a joke my partner emailed me this morning, and it is intended to make you laugh (or at least smile). Mark, a loving husband, was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary and his wife was really ticked off at him. She told him, "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in under 6 seconds, AND IT BETTER BE THERE." The next morning, Mark got up really early before work. When his wife woke up a couple of hours later, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a small gift-wrapped box sitting in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe, ran out to the driveway, and took the box into the house. She opened it, and found a brand new bathroom scale. Mark is not yet well enough to have visitors. I hope it made you at least know that you have a lot of company!!! Enjoy your day! Terry- LOL, that pix you posted was funny. I love NFL football! Just never paid much attention to college ball. As an undergrad I did, was usually drunk at the games, perhaps we played your school (I went to University of Nevada, Reno). Tracy- Your boys are sooo cute. I agree w/ someone who posted, " I bet they never get into any trouble." One year I taught 1st grade, and I had 16 boys and 4 girls...OMG, even w/ 20 kids, that was the hardest year of my teaching career. Right now, I have 37 middle school kids who are 2nd year in America, and they are easier than my first graders (well the 8th graders and testing my nerves lately, lol). Anyway, very cute pic. I hope all of our band family who joined us this week are mending well. I have great news to share. I NO LONGER HAVE TO TAKE BLOOD PRESSURE PILLS OR CHOLESTEROL PILLS!!! For me, that is huge. I hate taking pills. I am still 23 pounds down although I feel I've put on a few. I feel great, and did another 5 miles (30 minutes) on the bike yesterday! QUESTION: I WANT TO MAKE SOMETHING GOOD FOR MY GF THIS WEEKEND. I USUALLY COOK AND SINCE I STARTED ON THIS, SHE HAS NOT HAD A HOMECOOKED MEAL. ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS OF SOMETHING SHE WOULD LIKE, AND THAT I CAN EAT ON THE MUSHIES? MAYBE AN IDEA OR RECIPE? I WAS THINKING A CHICKEN CASEROLE (JUST NO NOODLES FOR ME). ANY SUGGESTIONS? THANKS Sorry for the long post. Have a great day everyone. Still waiting for my charm bracelet to arrive. :cry
  13. I know I sound so mean in this thread, but man o man...I am very happy. I don't feel bad for him, he became so arrogant...I mean really, "welcome to the universe of sanjaya..." PAHLEASE! ALL IS RIGHT IN THE WORLD!!!!! BYE BYE Sanjaya...I know I will see more of you, but not on Idol!
  14. LMAO, I didn't even know what those animals were in Sara's pic. I thought they were like cows, but I don't think I've ever seen 'em w/ the long horns.
  15. Sara, You look great. It is very nice to put a face w/ the name. Afterall, I come to consider you, Terri, Tracy, and a few others here as friends, and I could never tell what you looked like from the little pix. I will try to upload a pix soon. I got a new camera in March, and haven't figured out how to upload yet. Anyway, that is great, very nice to "meet" you!!!

    Who Drinks soda?

I wanted to post my 2 cents on the topic. I too, like many of you was addicted to Diet Coke. "My kingdom for a Diet Coke" and "Diet Coke is like my oxygen," were often used when expressing my love for the stuff. I haven't had a diet coke since 3-21-07!!! I have never even thought about it until I read this thread. I know my skin has cleared up, I am sleeping like a baby, and I feel better, really better. I never thought I would say that either. Smoking was my other vice. I LOVED TO SMOKE. LOVED IT, NEVER WANTED TO QUIT. I watched my mother gasp for her last breath and went out and had ciggies...was hooked. My doctor said, "I will not do the surgery on a smoker, it is harder to heal." So, on Feb. 14 I quit. I used the patch...and I guess I was really ready. Be careful w/ Zyban (Wellbutrin). It is an anti depressant. It works well for some, and not for others. I've heard great things about Chantix, but Kat is right, the long term evidence is still blurred. The good thing is that Chantix is designed to be taken for only 3 months. For my smoking friends I suggest the patch, Nicoderm CQ (clear). It is cheapest and freshest at Walmart, plus they always have a $5.00 coupon in each box. I know it is expensive, but so are ciggies. But what is really expensive is the long term effects of smoking (getting down off my soap box now), believe me I know it is tough. Good luck everyone on your journey!
  17. Jay- So sorry to hear your sick. I was soo scared to get sick too before the surgery, never thought about it for after, but I can imagine it is worse. You probably got sick in the hospital. Take a few more off and take care of yourself. I think, unless I was dead, I would have to be at work. 8th graders in the spring time are soooooo bad. Plus we have state testing next week. :faint: Congrats Mini, I too gained about 8 pounds after surgery, my knees looked like watermelons. Then in a week, I had lost 15!!! It will go away. Enjoy it, now that I am eating it is coming back:think . On a funny note...many of you know I bought a new car this past weekend! Well, the Toyota dealership sent me a big BASKET OF COOKIES to thank me. Needless to say, the teachers are really happy I bought the car, did not have one, but that is ok. I've had a cookie before and I know what it tastes like!
  18. I had withdrawl this morning without waking up to LBT. Glad we back on, I guess they listened to Teach, lol! Laura, I just wanted to comment about the Steri strips. I am 2 weeks and one day out, and still have mine on. I accidently pulled one off too soon, (I had 5, 3 horizontal and 2 vertical), a vertical one, and I was a week out. It pulled the scab and started bleeding, and left me a little whole. I swear it hurt so bad for about 3 days until a new scab formed. Anyway, I was told to let them fall off on their own. I am pissed, I put 2 pounds on since Sat, because I started eating purreed food. I don't want to gain. And I am getting hungrier and hungrier. Off to lunch now...thank goodness, I am starving! Have a great day everyone. Going to the gym tonight!!! Looking forward to it, it has been a week, I have to work on my schedule.
  19. he sucked he sucked he sucked
  20. Hi everyone, I am here again to say how much I wanted to slap Sanjaya again. I don't even think he is trying...paying more attention to his stupid hair do than the song and his efforts. I feel deep disdain for the kid, can't believe it but I do. Anywho...go Chris and Jordan.
  21. Welcome Sistas...and any Bros too! Welcome to the other side. There are sooo many people getting home and heading out. All I can say is we are all with you. Post when you can. I was banded 2 weeks ago today...in ways it seems like 2 months. I've read and learned so much...wow. I am starting to get hungry again. I will eat small meals (5-6 small ones only, not 3 large) and will be hungry sooner and sooner. Last week, it would be about 3-4 hours, now it is 1-2 hours. This is gonna suck, I am still 6 weeks until fill. Plus, I feel "fatter" again since Saturday when I started eating food again (although it is blended). On a side note, I wore a shirt today that I have not worn in 2 years!!! Anyway...just up and down. I was driving home from my very long day, and my mind was racing...what fast food resturaunt has "soft food"? I was pissed at myself, I DONT WANT TO LIVE LIKE THAT ANYMORE DAMMIT! PERIOD END OF STORY. I guess the point is that this is truly a journey...old habits are hard to break. This is not an easy road here...but I am glad I am on it. Whew...I am just really tired, sorry to go on. I did make something good to eat, thought I'd share. Salmon steak (terriacki, not spelled right, pre packaged), blue cheese crumbles, and light mayo BLENDED WELL. It is yummy and tastes gourmet. Gotta go scream at the TV...Sanjays sucked so bad, I swear I want to slap him. Anyway, good night everyone, I hope everyone has a better night than I am having.
  22. Hey Terri, Do tell...is that something from LBT? Inquiring minds want to know. Tracy...Go get Airborne!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta go teach math...yuck!
  23. Hi Angie and Everyone, I was running late and just now posted Gina's (GR8) instructions on my journal. Thanks for sharing Terri...I am just curious about what is good at this stage. Again, having to pack it around it the hardest part. Ok, I must go work, I have 36 kids staring at me...lol! Have a great day!
