  1. Last weekend, I had a sip of coke without thinking about it. Well, I will never do that again. Sharp pain, although fleeting, but I will remember that forever. Then today, I bought a Peirre (sp) and guess what...same thing. I think I've learned my lesson. I am now addicted to Crystal Light, Peach Iced Tea or Fruit Punch. Plus I am sleeping so good too!
  2. Morning Family~ Cheri, thanks for the info. We are gonna take the ferry to Provincetown. I would love to and am ready to get married to Susanne. I've never been happier. But, she has 1 more year in the military, and after 22 years, she can not at this time. I could see us returning one day so she can make an "honest woman of me", lol. But of course, we want to have the families there. Can't wait for my republican TOTALLY STRAIGHT brother to tell his 3 kids, Aunt Pammy and Susanne are getting married...to each other. haha Juli~have fun w/ GF. Have an extra glass of wine and I am sure dinner w/ mom will be fine. Enjoy Chi town! Weekend plans, workout and nap. Yeah, I love being a teacher! Oh yeah, I will lay by my friends pool, I am babysitting her dog. Have a great day!!!
  3. Morning Violets~ I am home from the gym, and am pissed I could only work out 50 min because of a painter who came over at 7:30. But what a great workout. 4 miles on the bike, 160 crunches (100 crunches and 60 ab turning things...better than plain crunches and works on the sides), plus my back, and ass today! I was sweating bad...and I love it. It is gonna be 112 here again today (110 on different channel). I am off to La Verne where I go to school (80 miles away) to the library w/ a friend! Judy~ Your just so cute. Enjoy your special day today. I am sure your yard looks great (we are still waiting for pix). Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary. From now on, you and your son can have a anniversary dinner w/ DH and DIL! Have a great day everyone!
  4. I just wanted to thank Juli and Eddie for confronting an uncomfortable issue w/ class and dignity. I am proud to be a part of the GLBT thread, and am appreciative of the friends I have made here. I like that our thread is welcoming to everyone, forgiving, and sensitive to other's feelings...AAAHHH GROUP HUG!:grouphug:(ok, who grabbed my ass???) I am 39 (for a few more weeks anyway) and am still in school too. I talked to someone tonight and told them, "Just make all this shit go away (refering to my dissertation homework). I feel your pain. But I too love the learning. I am actually sad, if I can just finish this dissertation, that I will be out of school. I figure I will have to take a Spanish or German class, just to keep learning. I will email you w/ the dates, etc on the trip. Thanks again for the suggestion, it looks fun!
  5. Denise~ I don't think that continued ab (muscle) pain is "normal" this far out. I am up to 160 crunches a day (when I work out) and I don't have any ab or muscle pain. Especially since it just started about a week ago, right? Be persistent w/ the doctors staff, you know your own body better than they do. Even if the doctor confirms "it is just nothing." Good Luck! Jennifer~ Congrats on passing the bartending test!!!:clap2::clap2::Banane20:(I love any opportunity to use that banana). I know that test was a huge hurdle for you, and now that is over, we will keep our fingers crossed for you on your job search. Good for you!

Who have you had enough of ??

Great Thread~ What a question. I agree w/ some of the previous posts, Rosie (over did it, whether she was in or out of the closet), the candidates (enough already), Elizabeth H (from the view...I just wanna smack her little republican face), Hilton, Richie, Lohan (what would happen if the press just stopped taking their pictures???? Even for 1 day?) I think what I am most tired of is hunger and poverty in the USA and around the world. I am tired of racism, sexism, and bias on someones orientation. I am tired of this stupid f^*king war...really tired of that. I am tired of being an embarrassment in the world by our mumbling idiot we have as our leader. I am tired of hypocrites. I am tired of bullies, in life and especially here (you know who you are...haha). I am tired of soldiers dying. I am tired of the price of gas. I am inspired by smart people. Visionaries who think out side of the box. I am inspired by hope and change. I am inspired by the love of my life!

    Who would you rather marry?

My partner is both. We are not "married" yet, but she is the person I've picked to go through life with. She is my romantic love, my best friend, and the person who completes me.
  8. B= Protein shake (homemade w/ 4 oz of low carb yougart, 1 banana, 5 strawberries, 1 scoop unjury L= 1/3 of cobb salad S= 1/3 of cobb salad D= 1/3 cobb salad S= 2 tablespoons of mashed pot. and about 2 oz of chicken I didn't exercise the last 2 days:behindsofa:...but will be back at it in the am. I do 3-5 miles (depends on my day) on bike, then 160 crunches, arms, back, ass, inner and outer thighs. I need to increase my time, now that it is summer, I won't be so rushed. Great Thread!
  9. Hiya Violets~ I have a new garage door! I've been in this house for 27 years, and we've always had the old wood door. I will be painting in July, but the door is in now! Makes the whole house look weird, went from a black door to an almond one. Either way...it is in! My cleaning lady broke the shower valve today, and she turned off the main...but it kept pouring out. What a mess...and 229$ later, it is fixed. All in all, an expensive day, 1569.00 total...wow! I think we've decided on Provincetown, MA as our vacation destination. I found a great condo w/ an available week in August. I am very excited...always wanted to go to Mass. We will take a ferry across Cape Cod Bay! Still in the planning stages...but this is looking like a go! I'll keep you all posted! I planned on doing a pool workout this am, but the water was just a tad too cool. You'd think w/ 112 degree weather it would feel good, but I think it felt too cold, if that makes sense. So I just laid in the sun, haven't done that in years. But now, I have had 2 days off from the gym...damn...hate that (I know, I know...who is this person?) So, I have the painter here at 7:30am for an estimate...and I will just be getting home from the gym! (Now that i've typed it, I have to go). :clap2:
  10. Juli~ Thanks for the suggestion. I just got off the phone w/ an owner of a beautiful condo in Ptown!!! Now, I am gonna find some flights! It is gonna be wonderful, if I can pull this off. I am waiting for the money, which won't be here for another 3 weeks or so. I am having a garage door put on now, and had to call the plumber because the cleaning lady broke the shower (I think the valve is stripped) and now she has turned off the main. More money. The kicker is that the appraiser will be here at 3 to appraise the property, and I have a broken and still leaking shower, lol. Anyway, big hugs for the suggestion. I am so excited! Keep your fingers crossed I can pull this off! I'll keep you posted!
  11. Good Morning Violets~ Today I am babysitting, actually until Sunday this little guy. His name is Oscar. My challenge is to keep him a secret from the Rotteweiller, Klaus (he is 140 pounds). Anyway, I did not go to the gym this am, but am going swimming at Oscars house!! That will be my workout. It is gonna be 112 here today:faint:!!! So a pool workout will be good! oscar.bmp
  12. Good Morning Family~ Sunta, congrats on your interview. I had not heard of her, but I googled her. I am sure you'll be great! Eddie, we are still in the thinking stage. I will have A LOT of money in the next few weeks (took 100,000.00 against my house) and after we do some repairs around here, I'll still have about 60 left. I have been learning to the northeast, toronto, boston, etc. Again, we don't have a lot of time, but perhaps a quick week. We are going to Vegas, Reno, and Lake Tahoe in 3 weeks! I think I am gonna surprise her and say, pack your bags and not tell her where we are going (unless she needs a passport).
  13. Hey Violets~ Judy...Congrats on 38 years. My dad and stepmom were married 30 years last year. I had so much fun planning the party, etc. It is wonderful, you are an inspiration to me. Enjoy your celebrations!! Welcome Amanda, please jump in anytime. This thread is really something special.
  14. Terry~ That is an amazing picture. You really look beautiful. What a view!!!!!
  15. Hey Violets~ Thanks for the wonderful and thought provoking suggestions for a mini vaca. We went to Fiji last year, it was fabulous. This summer is so busy for us, we can only take a "litte one". I thank you for thinking for me. I love Colorado, I've been to Denver and Vail. I like the idea of the east coast, especially Toronto. We both want to go some where we've never been to and she is from Europe and has been all over the world. Keep tossing ideas if anyone thinks of any...and I'll keep you posted. xoxo Just got home from my poker night. I lost...but had fun! The hostess made enchiladas, one chese and the other one green chile and chicken. She had sectioned off big peices for the guests. I asked her if I could have 1/4 of each, instead of the whole piece of each. I watched as she cut them into 1/4's for me. I had two 1/4 pieces, 2 taquitos, few chips...and water. This is a victory people...these were great enchiladas. I know I don't have the strongest restriction...but the portions and SOOOOO much less than before. I am discouraged I am not lossing...but I have been great on my workouts (taking tomorrow off). I love the workouts... I feel great! Ok...I am proud of that!

  18. Good Morning Violets~I just counted up...I've done 15 workouts already this month! That is so cool. I went this morning, and was gonna go back tonight for a dance class, but I think I am gonna go to a poker party instead. I am so proud of myself. 15 workouts in June...that is amazing. I went back to doctor yesterday for my followup from my fill 10 days prior. I was hoping for another fill, I have some restriction...but not completely. Really differs from day to day, or I can't find the pattern. Anyway, he said he was happy w/ my progress. I lost a pound and had been working out nearly everyday. He said because of the workout, you won't lose for a bit, because of muscle. I am actually 17 # down since I started according to his scale. I like the one at the gym better says between 21-23 down. But, I do know, I am loving my workout times...and I feel great! Anyway, I am proud of myself. It is great to see Sara back! Even though she is now gone for the week. It is great to see everyone...we really have a great thread here. I look forward to checking in all the time! Have a great day everyone!

    Exercise accountabilty thread

Virgina~ I heard the same thing too. Actually, I just told my dad that 1/2 hour ago. I am loving my workouts too. I went this am and did 4 miles on the bike, 140 crunches, arms and back today! Then went out back, swept the porch, picked up dog poop, brushed the dog (he is 140 pound Rotteweiler) and gave him a bath. All in 100 degrees, so that is like a workout. I am not dropping in numbers, can't break through the -23 pounds since I started. But I am going to really drop some calories this week, trying to jump start myself. But I am loving the workouts. Took yesterday off, and had a long hard day! This is a great thread, and I will be back often.
  23. Good Morning Violets~ Happy Father's Day! To all the moms out there...you know you deserve a Father's Day shout out too! Went to the gym again...love it! But the scale still says the same, going between 260-257. The same since I started. I am trying not to get discouraged. What was Tracy talking about moving us to a monthly thing? If someone moves the violets...please let us all know. I am like her, can't live w/o the violets. Have a great day everyone!
  24. I voted 4 times a week, but recently (since school has been out), I've beengoing about 5 times a week. I do 3-5 miles on the bike, arms, legs, ass, back, and just started doing abs (140 crunches) this week. I get a really good sweat at the gym...I also have gone 2x in one day! I quit smoking in Feb. to prepare for surgery, so I need to go and workout at my own pace. Overweight former smokers have their own special issues. But, I am loving my workouts. I recently bought a Ipod for my workouts, and love that too!! I love rockin out and workin out! During the school year, I get up at 5 to work out (even before the band, but not religiously). I do make a protein shake for breakfast everyday, but because I love it...and it feels good. I use 4 oz of low carb yougart, 1 banana, strawberries/blueberries/rasperries, 1/3 c. of skim milk, and 1 scoop of protein powder all mixed in the magic bullet. Then about 10am, I have cottage cheese. I am happy w/ where I am...although I have lots still to lose. I feel great. I am new on the journey, but I am enjoying the ride of getting to know myself better.
  25. Laura~ You totally rock violet sista!!!!!!!!!! Good for you on your weight loss success and good for you on you posting your pix. You can see big changes!! It is good to see lots of "old timers" popping back in. Once a violet, always a violet! I just got home from a date night w/ my brother and 3 year old nephew. I had a popcorn and hot dog. Not bad but 1 sip of brothers coke, and I thought I was gonna die. I did not like that one bit. I have not had any carbonation since March...gonna stick to Crystal Light. Took today off, but I am back at the gym in the am. Now that I've posted it, I have to go, lol. Have a great night!
