Is anyone else having trouble w/ periods since banding? I THOUGHT I got mine on Tuesday (it was 7 days late). But what I had was an illusion. I am pissed and getting frustrated. I told my doctor and he said "weight loss effects cycles". Well, sure, but 31 pounds (yes I am claiming 249) in 7 months is not rapid loss. Since the band, I'll have a day or 2 of spotting between periods, but then I got one. I just feel sooo shitty and bloated. I am sure I'll drop a couple more once I start (and finish). Anyway, is anyone noticing any difference since being banded? This is a serious question. Am I broken?? Well, it is CTC day, and pot luck day! Hey Violets~ I just made something that smells so good. Turkey Joes! We are having a pot luck tomorrow. So in the crocker I have browned ground turkey (my new fav), cooked w/ garlic and onions; 3 cans of sloppy joes sauce; and 2 med cans of corn. I have tons of little rolls (none for me). I am gonna cook it tomorrow in my classroom for 4 hours, and then by 11:30, it should be perfect. I am gonna have some, just no bread (especially rolls, PB for sure). Just thought I'd share. I am off for my meeting!

I have not had any soda, diet or otherwise, since March 22, 2007. I can not argue how my complexion has cleared and how well I sleep. I know it is not good for you, but I used to swear that I thought Diet Coke was like oxygen. Now...I miss it from time to time...a coke looks good...but so does my face!

Jenn~ I love love love champagne. It is not band friendly, but I know some people are still drinking diet sodas (raise your hand if this applies to you). So, if you tolerate soda or carbonation, I would vote for champagne. But, I wanna know what else is in the package (hehe). Or a nice bottle of Pinot...what food are you bringing...or is food not what this night is all about???

Janie, MY Gosh, that made my mouth water. I printed it out! Denise, Yours sounded great too. My MIL is bringing soooo much food this year, I only have to make a salad and buy ice cream. But, I've printed yours out too and may save it for next year. Kat, the parents I am meeting w/ tonight are wonderful. These parents are new or 1st gen in this country. They've fought and struggled HARD to get here. They respect the USA and the educational system. I love these parents...and they love me. The ones I have trouble w/ are not Spanish speaking...just regular ol' white and black folks. I am not being racist, and regardless of what anyone's politics are...I am only speaking from my personal experience. I had a parent (not one from my classes) come about 1 inch from running me over in the parking lot, as I tried to tell him he was not allowed in to the staff lot to drop off his children. He, an old white guy, yelled, "That is a stupid rule, and you need to change this stupid rule." He continued on "Your ruining my day!" I asked, "how could you do this, argue w/ me and obviously break the rules in front of your children?" He said, "my kids don't care about this..." I watched as his kids looked horrified as their dad was being such a complete and utter ASSHOLE at their school. No, the parents tonight are kind, respectful, hard working. Not like the rich pricks we have to deal w/. Palm Springs is a place where money has money. I came from nothing...we had food stamps, the electricity went out from time to time. My mom worked her ass off as a single mom. She raised us right, as we are both pretty successful. And although I am "comfortable" now...I'll never forget from where I come from. I swear, on Monday, if it wasn't nailed down...I ate it. But yesterday, I was ok...just not great. We went to Mex last night. I have a chix burrito, no tortilla...but I LOVE those chips!!! So that is where I was naughty. I am gonna try CTC day today and of course on Thurs too. Got a long day today. I am running a meeting tonight for all my Spanish speaking parents at 6pm. Good Luck! I remember my comps. I had to prepare for 48 essays for my Master's degree. I carried these little cards around w/ me for about 2 months. That what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. I now teach classes for Master's degrees, and I try to be gentle w/ my students. Get off LBT and go study!!!

There are so many ways to hurt people in the world, isn't there. The "n" word, the "c" word, fat ass, etc. We figured out how to hurt people centuries ago. What I question is the level of class and intelligence of the "speaker" of these words. If your attacking someone, for whatever reason, is it better to mention skin color, gender, or size (perhaps the obvious)...or attack someones character. I teach middle school, so "name calling" is part of my job. I would like to think that we grow out of that at some point.

About 10 years ago, this guy walked into my brothers car while he was driving and he killed this man (his family suspected it was suicide). My brother was devastated! Carol, I'd start w/ your primary doctor and contact doctors in your local area. I don't know of the doctor you mentioned, but I'd start w/ your primary for information. Judy, I like the glitzy ring! You know, I like every ring I see. I wear a committment ring. It has five taupe gold rings, with 23 diamonds in bands. The diamonds are small, not chips but not rocks (pebbles)...but they look beautiful and sparkle when the sun hits it. I bought it for Susanne and she bought mine. It is the ring I wanna die with. But, I do have 9 other fingers too. Actually, I wear my grandmother's wedding band w/ 5 .5 carrots in white gold. I love that ring too. Then my class ring for my Master's degree, has 3 small diamonds. I loved Laura's ring she posted when she got married. Can't wait to see the new one.

Janie, Thanks for the skinny thoughts! I am feeling sooo bloated today, but, I just took the tags off a cute pair of pants that I bought in early Sept. and guess what...they are falling off me. I don't know why I even bought them w/o belt loops. I even have another pair just like 'em in black. They are a 24 and are soooo big, I feel like a hobo! I AM NOT COMPLAINING...JUST SHARING! I will try to wash them in hot water and dry them. Then I'll be on here crying that they are too small, lol. Oh well, that is what I get for shopping anyway. I've got enough clothes for the next 60 pounds...nice clothes and house clothes (you know, comfy's that you wouldn't be seen in Walmart wearing). Anywho, just thought I'd share. Praying that TOM comes and comes fast. Cut the Crap day is a lot harder this time of month:faint:

Terry~ Good to "see" you again. I think our motivation and determination ebbs and flows as we do in life. Right now, your plate is full and you've got lots to worry about. Take it easy on yourself. You'll "be back" to that fierce mentality. I think with all that is going on for you personally, you need to give yourself a break and just do what you can. You've always been so great to and for all of us...perhaps we can return the favor! I will say some prayers for your mom. Maybe a rehab fac. is best for her now. At least she won't be alone in case she falls. Keep us posted. But most importantly, take care of yourself:girl_hug:.

Good Morning Violets~ Well, yesterday we had plans to Christmas shop, see a movie, and do all this stuff. I ended up sleeping on and off until 2pm:faint:. I think the week just wore me out! Anyway, baked some salmon and we stayed home and watched TV all day. It was kinda nice actually. So today, we're up early and gonna try to finish shopping. Yes, finish. Hate shopping in Dec. Date shakes are plentiful around these parts, and althoughI've lived here 28 years, I've never had one. I was also in Girl Scouts back in the day, Troup 244! Funny story. I teach English Language Development. My students are 2nd or 3rd year in the country. I have a little girl from India, a few Philipinos, but primarily all are from Mexico. Well, my sweetie from India raised her hand and announced, " Manuel told me "fuck you". I said, "what?" and she repeated it. I looked at Manuel and gave him the evil eye and was just getting ready to lay into him. (Manuel has been in USA for about 6 months, he found his mother dead in Mexico and is now living w/ his 23 year old sister here). He said, "She take my candy" (in Spanish) and the India girl said, "oh, I was playing." Manuel looked at her and said, "Me no play...Me no play" in perfect English. I just told the little girl to leave him alone. I was so proud of his English, even if it is the colorful words. Have a great day, and stay away from Manuels candy!

I feel like a freakin princess! I haven't seen 24something (even if it is 9.8z) in so long. I thought I was failing...but I am not, just slow!!! I'm just slow!!! Slow!!!! (Where is the short bus????). Anyway, even if it goes away for a day or 3, I saw 24something. Yeah for me!:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2: Going to a BBQ potluck thingy w/ Susanne. It is at our friends who bought that new house! I am bringing Filet Mingon (sp) and hope I can eat it. I am a bit scared. I went out last night and had a burger w/ grilled onions and mustard and a salad. I could barely eat the salad (protien first) but was stuffed. Funny thing is that Susanne and our friend both had a burger w/ fries and cleaned their plate. Now for Susanne, it was her first meal all day (yes, she does that)...but still... that was a lot of food! That is what I love about the band, and why I opted to get it, is that I eat real food. I walked out w/ the same onion breath they had...just no carbs, and felt very full. Did I mention 249??? I'll stop now! Have a great day!
