Has anyone had problems with a rash around the incisions? I had surgery in late January, and things were going fine until two weeks post op. I came down with a bad case of kidney stones and had to have them surgically removed. Shortly after, I began noticing a rash on my belly, but it got really thick around all of the incisions. The doc has given me a steroid cream to use, but I'm not sure it's helping...Has anyone else had this type problem?

what is the best way to get the glue off? I'm still sort of timid about rubbing the incisions too much. I have gently scrubbed with soap and water... Any suggestions?

I understand your anguish about stopping the diet Cokes... I have been addicted to Pepsi, Coke, and Dr. Pepper for 24 years. Until the week before my lap band surgery, I honestly drank 6-12 cans a day. The very last thing I had before starting my pre-op liquid diet was drink a 24 oz Pepsi. Much to my surprise, I haven't had one since, over a month and half later! Seriously, I didn't drink anything but soda, and now I'm "over it". I never wanted to stop drinking soda because I LIKED it, but I have to say - my mindset is so much better now. I'm more able to concentrate at work, I sleep better... I'm having a lot of sucess with the band, but the icing on the cake is that I have broken a very unhealthy habit that I really didn't want to give up. I knew I had to stay away from the stuff before surgery, and after that week, I didn't crave it anymore. Now I know I can be a success! Good luck to you! It seems like a little step, but it will enpower you to know you broke the addiction!

I have finally gotten insurance approval for my surgery after fighting for it for more than three years. I've read up on the procedure, as well as what I can expect physically after surgery, but maybe I'll feel better about it after hearing stories from those who have "gone through it." The people who give testimonials at the doctor's seminars are all very nice, but I want to be prepared for reality, rather than be told only success stories.

It took me over three years to get the surgery approved with my insurance company, even though several of my doctors submitted "statements of necessity". I was FINALLY approved recently, but not until multiple appeals were denied, gained 30 more pounds, was diagnosed with sleep apnea, diabetes, and severe back problems. I think the insurance company finally realized I wasn't going to give up... My surgery is in two weeks - I pray that it is all worth it! Hang in there! Believe me when I tell you, I said the same thing... Six months is a long time, but just think about how much weight you will be able to lose in the six months after surgery!
