Mushies already? (1 wk post op)

Clear liquids consists of jello, popsicles, broth, water, cystal light and things like that. Anything that you can see through counted for me. I loved popsicles during that time...still do! I think tiffykins said that she melted a popsicle and it was 3-4 ozs which counts towards your fluids.

Mushies already? (1 wk post op)

I was able to have yogurt, cream soups no chunks, pudding, thin cream of wheat after 3 days. For me that stage was called full liquids. Anything without chunks or pieces that slides off a spoon counted. I fell in love with butternut squash soup during that time.
  3. She has dr. Baggs. I was suprised as well. Though when I had my surgery I got there early around 10am, I was suposed to be there at 11:20, well they had a last min cancellation so they prepped me right away and my surgery was at 11 instead of 1pm. It was crazy! Good luck tomorrow!
  4. Did they move your surgery up? My mom just got a call to be there at 6:30 for surgery at 8:30am!
  5. Good luck! My mom has to be there at 1 for her rny surgery. Though I am sure we will be there earlier! Maybe I will see you there. Good luck!
  6. I am three days ahead of you. I had surgery dec 13th. I have been exhausted but my doc says that's to be expected. I understand how hard it is to get all the water in. I carry around a water bottle everywhere I go. That has helped but I am still not getting 64oz in. But I'm working on it. Make sure you are taking your vitamins as well. I had a pureed avocado and it was awesome. Plus I started drinking vitamin water. Don't know if it will help but I was willing to try anything to get some energy. I am not suposed to have protein drinks so I can't be of much help with that!

    Sleever's Rendezvous...?

This sounds like a great idea! I would love to meet people who have helped me so much during this process. I am in CA, Sacramento actually. Summer is always a great time for a vacation!
  8. I have been good. Though I am still early out. My main problems so far is getting in enough water. I am getting leg cramps and am so exhausted! I know it will get better though. My mom is having the bypass surgery on jan 3rd. I'm nervous for her! Otherwise all is good. Kind of sad not to be going out for new years but it will still be fun, hopefully!
  9. I gained 10 pounds in the hospital. It took me 2 days to lose it all after I got home.

    For the singles out there

Thankfully I am not single...I hated dating! But maybe try to avoid going out to dinner and do mini golfing, movie, coffee or something like that. If that's not possible try to order soup. You can look like you are eating by stiring the soup and fiddling with the spoon. Though your bowl will still look full. Or you order a meal and take bites of everything and then move the food around so it looks like you ate more than you really did. I don't know. Maybe others will have better suggestions.

    So Tired...

Did the protein shake help you start feeling better?
  12. I had my surgery on Dec 13th. I have lost 19 pounds postop and began my puree stage on today. I took two weeks off and went back to work Monday. I am so exhausted. When I get home I fall asleep and wake up for an hour then go back to sleep for the night. I don't get a lot of liquids in once I get home because I am sleeping so much. I have also started getting leg cramps during the day. Kaiser, the one I go to does not want us having protein drinks, so today was my first bit of protein, pureed chicken salad. I am also taking calcium, multivitamin, and b12. Was anyone else this exhausted? I'm assuming my body is still recovering and along with lack of food this is making me tired. I just worry about getting dehydrated because I am only drinking about 30-40 oz a day.

    So Tired...

I forgot to mention that im getting a cold! I spoke with the nut last night and she said being tired was normal...but still, I get off work at 3pm, am asleep by 4:30, awake from 8-9 then back to sleep until 5:30am. I think I am going to try some gatorade tomorrow and see if that helps at all!

    So Tired...

The kaiser that I went to for my surgery says you can live without protein for two weeks. They think shakes are soft calories and don't want people to get used to shakes. Still don't quite get it but I'm a rule follower.

    a little lovin

Wow so this may be way tmi but what the heck. My boyfriend and I got busy last night. I'm 10 days post op. Well after I went to get off the bed and I felt like I was going to throw up and maybe pass out. I sipped some cold water and too a quick cold shower. Neither worked. My boyfriend thought he hurt me but he didn't at all. He said I was so pale and almost green. He had me lay back down and then after a few mins I was fine. It was kind of scary. I had never felt so close to passing out. I think that all the blood rushed from my head to other parts of my body and then I got up too fast. That and on top of not eating a lot right now. Now my boyfriend is paranoid to touch me!
  17. I started this process at 291. I am only 14 days sleeved but my total weight loss so far is 53 pounds. I was and still am wondering how my body is going to look when I lose another 80 pounds? I know that my boobs will look crazy, but that is to be expected when losing so much weight. I am not really too worried about my tummy, butt or legs. Weird but I am most anxious about my arms! So for me once I can start working out I will be lifting some weights to help tone. Every body is different so a lot depends on where you carry your weight. I am large all over. But some may have just the big belly. Also, age makes a difference. I don't know if I will ever get plastic surgery, but I would rather look great with clothes on then be unhealthy and fat.

    Left Side Hurting

My pain is on my right side and that is where my largest incision is. I notice that when I am doing too much I start to have more pain. I am 13 days out and last night I had to take pain meds because I overdid it on christmas! I go back to work tomorrow so I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get too tired. I would suggest rest. Don't bend or pick anything up. Just relax all day and see if you feel a little better. If not then I would call the doc.
  19. I had my mom, stepdad, dad and boyfriend there. I was in recovery for about 4 hours so when I got to see them I was much more alert. Had bad pain until my pain meds kicked in and one bout of nausea when they were all there. But after 30 of being in my room I was awake and remember everything. They all even went with me for my first walk! I loved having people there. Especially my loved ones. I was nervous about the surgery so for me it was comforting that they were there.

    2 Periods in 3 Weeks!

Did anyone resume the bc pill after surgery? Did this help at all with staying regular? My doc says that I can resume taking my pill 3 weeks after surgery. So I have another week to go. I was on my period during surgery and that totally sucked.

    Pain Pain Go Away!!

I was taking my pain meds until Tuesday, so eight days out. My surgery was on Monday Dec 13th. I had a lot of pain and discomfort on the 2-4 days. It slowly got better to where I was only taking the pain meds to help me get comfortable enough to sleep. Now if I have a little ache I take tylenol. Walking for me helped the most, especially to rid the gas. Hang in there. By next week you won't even remember all the pain! Oh and have you tried some herbal tea...maybe that will help your throat?
  23. I had surgery on a monday at 11:20 and was released at 10am on Tuesday.
  24. Mine is a 40. I was worried that there wasn't going to be as much restriction as a smaller one but I'm glad that mine is this size. I have had no problems so far.

    One week out!

Well today is exactly one week from my surgery. I started out this process at 291. When I went in for surgery I was 255. When I stepped on the scale today I am at 243! So I have lost a total of 48 pounds since I began this journey back at the end of September. I have lost 12 pounds since surgery. So far everything has been really good. I am able to eat and drink and not get sick. Last night though I was getting stomach cramping after eating and also when I was drinking water. But this morning it hasn't happened. TMI...my BMs are weird. Liquid in and liquid out and all that jazz. I have heard to never trust a fart this early out and I do believe that is great advice! Back to a more pleasent topic....I finally have been able to sleep in my bed on my side. So the first few days I was sleeping in a comfy chair will like 8 pillows! I also was able to wash and dry my own hair this morning with little pain and discomfort. I have super long and thick hair so it is a pain! It has been raining cats and dogs here in Northern California so I haven't really been able to walk outside. Last night though there was a break in the weather so I went for a midnight walk and it was lovely. I also have gone to the mall to walk around which is okay just to get out of the apartment. I have one more week off from work so I want to relax and make the most of it! Each day gets better and better. I can't wait for next week when I should be able to start pureed foods. It will be amazing once I am back to eating regular foods and still lose weight!
