Thanks! I love the little things, and I love that I will do something and then realize afterwards that it's something that I haven't been able to do in a long time.

I used to be too fat and now I'm too thin...I just can't win
Caliblonde replied to enoughisenough's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm glad to hear that you started therapy and seeing a nutritionist. That's a step in the right direction. You say that you want to stay as thin as you are even though you know that it's life threatening and could kill you...that is something you need to talk about with your therapist. I agree with the others, think about your 3 year old and consider the eating habits that you are demonstrating to your child. I'm sure you don't want your child to have an unhealthy relationship with food. Just things to think about. I hope you can get it under control before they have to hospitalize you. -

I really hope that the pred. therapy helps and you can be awake to hear your little girl cry. I'll be thinking about you!! -
I used to be too fat and now I'm too thin...I just can't win

Anorexia and Bulimia are life threatening. I hope that you are looking into psychological and medical treatment for this. Good luck! -
I agree...try warm liquid or ice cold liquids. Also, try holding the liquid in your mouth and letting it trickle down your throat. That worked for me.

Yum! That really does sound delicious.

Can I choose the VSG with Kaiser Permanente
Caliblonde replied to 4mykids's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had mine through Kaiser so cal...did the classes at the orange health pavilion. I went to Pacific Bariatric in San Diego with Dr. Taller. The doctor I went to see at Kaiser told me that I would have to have a bypass, but Dr. Taller felt that the sleeve was the better choice for me. They will also let you change surgeons if you're not comfortable with what they tell you. -
Anyone else had migraines improve?
Caliblonde replied to Rainydayz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to get a migraine about once a month prior to surgery, now I've only gotten one migraine in 4 months and it was mild compared to my normal ones. -
Support Groups in Real Life
Caliblonde replied to LindaS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went through the Options program through Kaiser and met some wonderful ladies that also had surgery (everyone else had RNY), but we started our own support group. There are 6 of us that meet every other week. I attended one of the "mandatory" Kaiser support groups and it was horrible. Everyone just whined about how horrible everything about surgery has been. The support group that I started with the other ladies is nothing like that. It's like the support that I get on here, very helpful and caring, and I know that these ladies will become lifelong friends. If you know others in your area who have had surgery I would highly recommend trying to form your own little group. -

HAVE TO LOSE TEN POUNDS
Caliblonde replied to cass3057's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You can totally do it in 3 weeks. I didn't start with the two protein shakes and broth based soup the first week. I had two shakes and a normal dinner the first week and then went to shakes and cream soups the second week and then went down to the broth based soups the third week. It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it was going to be. I wish you the best! -
Well it's been an interesting 4 months. I can say that the sleeve is officially the BEST thing I have ever done for myself. I have lost 119 pounds including my pre-op weight loss. I'm wearing a size 26 (down from a 32/34). I have had more non-scale victories than I can count. I have so much more energy and am enjoying life so much more.

You're looking awesome! Way to go

Everyone Has Been So Supportive....
Caliblonde replied to courtines's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just have a few phrases in your pocket for people who disagree with you. You know why you need to have the surgery and what has not worked for you in the past. Maybe something like "Thanks for your concern, my doctor and I decided that this was the best decision for my health". Others have thrown similar phrases out in the past and that one has been useful for me. -
I have tried several different cereals because it was on my approved foods list at 6 weeks out. I found that my favorite was granola, but it's definitely not something that I eat on a regular basis. I used to eat HUGE bowls of it all the time, now I'm good if I go weeks on end without having it. Go figure.

Gall Bladder Surgery 9/20/11
Caliblonde replied to FlyGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I must have had the worst gall bladder surgery experience ever. I thought it was much more painful than the VSG recovery and I was laid up for 2 weeks recovering. I had extreme problems with eating fatty foods after surgery and definitely had the dumping-like experience with sweets and such. I was also not able to eat eggs after having my gall bladder out - though that seems to have resolved since the VSG and I can once again eat eggs. -
HAVE TO LOSE TEN POUNDS
Caliblonde replied to cass3057's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was in your shoes in May and I was required by my surgeon to do an all liquid diet for 2 weeks. I drank 2 protein shakes per day and then was allowed to have broth based soup for dinner. It worked and I lost the last 10 pounds. -
I have a Biggest Loser scale that I got on clearance at Kohls. It works great, it's digital, and it goes up past 400 pounds (which I needed when I bought it).

"exit:" incision problems?
Caliblonde replied to Mr.Mike's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would probably call the surgeon's office to ask. That's what they are there for and you don't want to mess around with a hernia. -
For myself, I had to write down every diet that I have tried in the past five years, how much I lost on that diet. If you've done weight watchers, I think it might count as a monitored diet.

So I've been really sick with a kidney infection that came with a 104 fever. The doctor gave me Augmentin (ENORMOUS horse pills) to clear up the infection, however, I have to take it with food and water. I have been religious about not eating and drinking at the same time for one because my surgeon told me not to and for two because it makes me feel very ill when I have tried it. Yesterday I took the medicine with yogurt and water and it ended up making me throw up both times I took it. Has anyone experienced taking medicine with food, any suggestions would be appreciated.
