I'm not having surgery in TJ, but I live in Orange County which is only a couple hours away from the border. I'm sure that it's totally doable to drive it. The only major problem I can think of is driving across the border since the line to get into the US is several hours long and you'll need to get up and stretch every half hour or something.

protein that tastes good
Caliblonde replied to ireland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Premier just changed their formula recently and the new formula makes me very sick to my stomach. The old formula was fantastic and I loved it with a tiny bit of peanut butter and a bit of banana, but the new formula is awful. I recently bought the Special K protein drinks which are pretty good, however, they have a lot of calories and carbs in them. They are fine for me now, but after surgery I will need something with higher protein content. -

How long was the process through Kaiser?
Caliblonde replied to optasia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think they started offering the sleeve as an option a little over a year ago, I remember that when I considered weight loss surgery prior to that the only options were bypass and lap-band. -
Kaiser: Proof of weight loss attemopts?
Caliblonde replied to optasia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My experience was the same as Michelle's. I only had to write down the different diet attempts, I didn't have to show proof. -
How long was the process through Kaiser?
Caliblonde replied to optasia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For Kaiser in Orange County, the process is pretty long. After the initial orientation meeting it can take several months to get into the 12 week Options class. Then after the classes, lab work, and appointments with specialists you go to your surgery center's orientation and then appointments with the surgeon, psychologist, and internist. Then another four weeks to get your surgery date. I started the process in January 2010, and my surgery is scheduled for May 2011. -

Protein shakes are making me nauseous
Caliblonde replied to Sara Ann's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely understand! The last two protein shakes I made made me feel nauseous for hours. I'm not sure if I'm getting sick of them or if it's the formula change in the premier protein shakes. I'm going to try some other protein varieties to see if they work any better for me. -
I can't wait for that day! Congrats to you!!!!!

NEED SOME HELP ASAP!!!!

Peppermint is supposed to be helpful for nausea, you could try sucking on a sugar free peppermint disk or adding a few drops of peppermint extract to warm water . Good luck! -

How lond did it take for you to get the surgery?
Caliblonde replied to snowfie9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My wait time with Kaiser in Southern California has been 16 months start to finish. I started the process in January 2010 and my surgery is scheduled for May 2011. I'm kind of glad that they didn't tell me how long the process would be start to finish last January because I would have cried. Now I'm just thrilled that my surgery date is almost here! -
Congratulations! You look fantastic.

I love it! -
I remember reading a story on here of a woman who was pregnant during surgery but didn't find out until afterwards. From what I remember everything was fine with both the surgery and the baby.

Do you Find yourself Pigging Out Before the Liquid Prep
Caliblonde replied to notsochubbybritneyspears's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not the only one at all! I got my surgery date of May 19 in January...having to wait 4 months has been awful. I find that I am going through waves, some weeks I do fantastic and lose a couple of pounds and other weeks I find myself going out to eat a lot and I notice other old, bad habits creeping back in. I had a very rough patch a couple of weeks ago - the week the girl scouts came around - and I gained about 8 lbs. Fortunately I'm now back on the bandwagon and have lost 6 pounds. I have two and a half months to surgery and my goal is to lose 16 more. Looking at this website daily, drinking my protein shakes, and avoiding eating between meals will be god sends for me. -

Places to get liquid protein samples
Caliblonde replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The BSN website only has the big tubs of the lean dessert. It's 30.95 on their website, I read in another post somewhere that you can sometimes call the manufacturer to get samples of the product...it's worth a shot! -

There is a "Biggest Loser" scale that goes up to 450 lbs. I got mine at Kohl's I think.

Places to get liquid protein samples
Caliblonde replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I was just looking on unjury's website and they have a great starter pack for $17.95. You get 2 packets of each flavor (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, chicken soup, and unflavored), along with a shaker and a thermometer. Looks like a good deal to me. Also, BJ's Bariatrics (www.bjsbariatrics.com) has the Syntrax nectar Sample Pack for $14.95 and you can choose which flavors that you want. Alot of the other websites that have the sample pack send you one of each flavor or don't give you a choice of flavors. -
WAY TO GO!!!!!! I'm so excited for you!!!!!!
