is anyone losing weight on the "pre"pre op diet?
Caliblonde replied to wondering1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep in mind that you've only been working on it for a week and a half. During my 12 week classes I found that I lost one week and gained the next. You're absolutely not a failure, I have a lot of friends who didn't lose anything, a couple who gained, and some who lost a lot more than I did. Good luck! -
Red Velvet Gang- How Ya Doing?
Caliblonde replied to meggiep's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 7 days out and still have to work to get in 30 oz. of fluids. I feel very uncomfortable after every sip, and I get gas bubbles if I try to go faster. My surgeon wants me taking in 64 ounces and the thought of that right now is completely overwhelming! On a positive note: walking is super easy and I'm down 10.5 pounds from surgery day!!! -
is anyone losing weight on the "pre"pre op diet?
Caliblonde replied to wondering1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 30 pounds during my 12 week classes. Writing things down is always helpful, I also cut out eating out and added in the occasional protein shake. I lost a total of 40 pounds before surgery because three weeks before my surgery I had to do an all liquid diet, 2 protein shakes and soup only. Hard but worth it. -
love love love sonic ice! I'm going to have to get my husband to pick some up for me. Yum!
-
Good luck! You'll both do great!

I had surgery on Thursday. It went perfectly, and recovery has been good. I was released today and am now home. I'm so happy to be on the losers bench!!!

It's quieted down today, I've only gone once this morning. I've been drinking clear fluids, no dairy at all. Yesterday I had vitamin water, apple juice, and water. Today I've had 1/2 of a protein shake, herbal tea, apple juice, and vitamin water. I'm not quite up to where I need to be with ounces in, but I'm working on it.

Anyone else sick of the pre-op diet???
Caliblonde replied to JG407's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's so worth it! Just keep it up. I had to do a three week liquid diet pre-op and it was actually great preparation for life post-op. -
Thanks! I'm doing good today, am sipping sipping sipping! Had a mini melt down last night because I wasn't resting enough and tried to do too much my first day home. Today is better after a full night of sleep. One concern is that I'm having some serious diarrhea (sorry tmi!), like 8 times yesterday, once in the middle of the night, and once already this morning. I'm not sure if I need to call the surgeon's office or not. I know that they gave me something in the hospital to "get things moving", and they do their job well that's for sure! I took 3 immodium's yesterday (doctor told me it was ok at the hospital), and they haven't done a darn thing. I know the only thing that I have taken in has been liquid and liquids in = liquids out, but I'm concerned about dehydration. Thoughts?

i'm home from the hospital. I'm feeling great today. Not too much pain, some little twinges now and again. I'm so happy that it's over and I'm on the other side of it!!

You look fantastic! Congratulations

I had to wait about four months for my surgery date and spent at least two days for each of those weeks having food funerals. I had my final food funeral two weeks ago, we went to Chili's and I was only able to eat about half of my food. Surgery is this Thursday and I'm finding that I have more head hunger than anything else. The soup and protein shakes are filling me up just fine.

Looking for unflavored protein powder
Caliblonde replied to meggiep's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
GNC has unflavored whey protein powder, and I think it's like $35 or $38 per tub. I know it's high quality, but have no clue what it tastes like or how many grams of protein it has. -
Having surgery Monday and I'm terrified
Caliblonde replied to USMCwifeandTEACHER's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lots of deep breaths! My surgery is this coming Thursday and I also have some sinus issues at the moment. Take lots of Vitamin b12 and c, and drink a TON of water!!! It's totally normal to be afraid and to revert back to old habits. Try using some other coping strategies to relax, like deep breathing, going for a walk, taking a bath, whatever makes you feel better!! Maybe start making a list (if you haven't already) of all of the things you are looking forward to as the weight comes off. That might help to remind you why you're putting yourself through this. As far as the clear liquids, I only have to do that the day before surgery, so make sure that tomorrow you're on top of it!! I keep reminding myself that the liquid diet is only temporary and that it will be more than worth it in the end!!! I wish you the very best of luck and I'll see you on the losers bench soon!!! -
My scale does that too! I hate it.
-
yum! They sound delicious. I'll have to make those once I'm able to eat regular food again.

Yay! I'm so happy for you Chicadee! It sounds like things are going really well for you. Good luck going back to work.

Heparin Bruises....is it normal for them to get bigger?
Caliblonde replied to meggiep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that's a good idea Meggie. That's a nasty looking bruise! -
Congrats on your post op weight loss! I'm sorry that you're having trouble with the shakes, it seems like a common problem. Have you gotten any of the samples to try different brands?
