Dee Dee, Thank you so much for your story. I'm happy to hear that you didn't have any problems with your surgery. I hope you continue on that road and don't have any pain.

    8 days til surgery!!!!!

Hey everyone, I had my pre-op nut consultation yesterday. I spent 5 hours with my doctors wife and then at the hospital for testing. It was a nice quiet change from being with the kids and also met a man there who was going to have surgery on the same day. It was so nice to have sort of a camaraderie with him and someone to talk to. We both had previously signed up for lap band and changed our minds. Hopefully all my test will turn out OK. I know the EKG was good...but no word on the chest x-ray or blood work yet. Just going to assume that no news is good news. I'm so very excited. I've lost about 5 lbs pre op diet...but had gained 10 from pigging out the weeks before and my birthday cake and all the DRINKS! Anyway...I am almost into my final week count down. ♪♫♪♫ it's the final count down....da da da ta da!!!! ♪♫♪♫ OK...it is stuck in my head now...gotta share the pain or pleasure...whichever . ANYWAY!!!!! Sorry to be quiet over here....I'm trying my best to stay on top of my Psychology class work and even get ahead so I don't have to worry so much while I am recuperating. I'm so very excited about everything!!! Is it sad that I enjoyed being AT the hospital? LOL I'm thinking of you all and checking on you when I can! ((hugs)) to you all! Thank you so very much for being here for me....I love having all you wise people to turn to for answers and opinions! <3 Carmen

    Testing day for me!

I have both my Nut pre op today and my hospital pre op testing today. I'm nervous that they'll find something to postpone my surgery because it has happened to others. I haven't had any bad labs really before...so I'm hoping I won't have any issues now. DAY 4 with NO SODA! This is a HUGE deal for me!!!! I'm proud of me. I do still miss it...but I hope by the time a few months pass I will no longer want it. Wish me luck! I'm thinking of all ya'll having surgery today! ((hugs))

Waiting is so hard! I don't have any input on when to submit insurance....sorry. My gut says wait, but others might have more insight. Sending you happy healthy vibes and patience (just a little...I don't have much to spare ;P ) . One day at a time! ((hugs))

    Newbie from Chicago

So sorry to hear about your cousin! You have to decide for yourself....but I am not telling my family. Only 3 people know I will be having VSG. My husband who is very supportive and been through all my ups and downs and pains with weight, My BFF of 25 years who had Lap Band and wishes she would have had VSG or Bypass, and a new friend here who I tell everything who was worried about my decision and said she loves me the way I am. I can hear all the disapproval with all my other friends and family and I don't want to hear it. So, that is my decision. Do what is comfortable for yourself....but you are doing this for you and nobody else. Good luck and hope to see you around and hear all your updates! ((hugs))

Anybody Broke down for no reason?

Papa Jack...Don't be ashamed for crying. It takes a strong man to cry. Like Julie said....it just shows how much this means to you. I've spent years and years crying over being overweight and trying to change my diet and not being strong enough. Eating very little when others were pigging out around me. That is rough, and not we have a tool to help us be "normal" and not have to struggle so much. I don't know when I will cry...maybe I've cried enough already....but would not be surprised if I did break down and cry. There is a lot of emotion tied up into our weight struggles. ((hugs)) Not much longer until we are on the flipside!!!!

    I am now 38!

I spent Friday night with a girlfriend drinking way more than any human should ever drink! I spent a whole day yesterday...eating what I could and recovering from Friday night Today I am doing my first day Pre Op diet. I'm already finding it to be difficult and day dreaming about things I would normally eat. Ugggg! It is mostly head hunger...but the shake definitely didn't fill me up. Guess that is what it feels like to eat to satiety instead of being stuffed like so many of us like to do. Let the learning process begin..... I feel a nap in my future

    I am now 38!

Thanks everyone! The day is coming to a close. I have to say I did a good job today. My first day with no soda! Big deal for me! I am happy that I haven't really had withdrawls...the lingering hang over probably helps. I'm drinking lots and lots of water. I'm doing good! I can do this. 11 days til my surgery WOOT WOOT!

Hi Dee Dee and thanks for the encouragement! It is a hard day! Hubby has been out of town for the last 3 days....I'm lonely and I can't eat! I knew I was an emotional eater...but WOW oh WOW....am I an EMOTIONAL EATER!!! I'm hanging in there! I just don't know what to do with myself!

    Tomorrow is my big day!!!

I know others have complained about pain in their left side....but I don't know about intense though. I hope you found a comfy spot!!! I'm thinking about putting lots of pillows in my oversized chair and propping my self in it instead of recliner....the pillows to make it easier to get out of. I have a recliner but it is upstairs....I don't think I want to deal with going up there and it is hot up there anyway and kid zone . How are you feeling this afternoon?
  20. You are doing just fine and are completely normal. I had my last day of eat everything I wanted yesterday and at bedtime...my tummy was full and I was happy....and I freaked a little thinking that I couldn't go to bed full and happy anymore. I know deep in the back of my brain this is what I need to be healthy and feel good about myself, but I still freak out from time to time. Embrace it for what it is! You can do it! You've made this decision and now it is a real! Deep breaths!!!! and lots of distractions! ((hugs))

    Throwing things away.

Papa Jack, I think we have all done it one time or another. Maybe several times. Usually it was me losing down and saying I'd never go back up...OOPS. Think of it this way....maybe it WAS meant to be (like someone else said) ....purging your closet opened up a new mindset and avenue for you to think about the sleeve. Kinda like when people are trying to conceive....a lot of superstition about not having anything for the baby while trying. Good luck! I go 3 days after you. Make a path for me so my way is easy going would ya!
