Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Angie38 replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Alex, Are you saying that you are only eating yogurt and cottage cheese? That you have to do this for two-weeks? OMG!! I could not handle that. You are doing great if you are on day 6. Geez how much weight have you lost? i would have to be like that lady who chained herself to her radiator to quit smoking. I think you are doing great. I only have a week of a pre-op diet (bless my Dr.) and it is mainly high protein and low carb. Angie -
Gosh... now i am feeling bad. Your right. The surgery did save her life and that is what I am always saying... WLS is wonderful... is can save your life!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Angie38 replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tracy, I am an April Bandster. Thanks for starting this thread! I am counting down the days, hours, minutes until my surgery! Surgery is scheduled April 18, Yippee!! Please add me to the 'list'! Angie -
Puddin, One more thing, reference the tummy tuck. Did you do that self pay? How much was it? Did you have your thighs done as well? They also look thinner in the after pic. Thanks... Angie
-
Puddin! You look GREAT!! I found your link http://www.flickr.com/photos/puddinpie/413377762/in/set-72057594129356316/ you are an inspiration!! The new man is HOT@! Oh yeah I also saw you are 28 so disregard everything I said before. =)
-
I agree. I really hate to say that I liked her better before. I dont even think she looks that great! Well her body looks great, but her head looks to big now or something.
-
Hello Puddin! How old are you? I was actually looking at the before and after pics and came across yours and then saw your ticker which said you were in a size six and wanted to your updated photos... and then I was led to this post. I have a daughter who is 19 and she sounds a bit like you. I can not give you any advice only some things to think about. I understand that now you have this beautiful body and you like all the attention you are getting. Of course, who wouldn't!! I say I have a daughter who is 19 -- most people see me and find that unbelievable. Not only am I short 5' I look pretty young, and so does she, she is often mistaken for a 15 year old (poor thing). Anyway, I was 18 when I got pregnant with her and it was a very hard struggle for her and I. I had no idea how to be a mother and no real means to support her at that age. I gave up all my years of youth to be a mother. I do not regret it... just understand she was not planned. Here I am 38 and living some of the dreams I had when I was 18-- like going to college. I have been going for three years now and know it had to of been easier to go when I was 18!! Wanting to be desired is one thing but to be promiscuous is another. Just some things to think about and I am sure you have already been lectured enough. So... post some pics so I can see the new you and be inspired. I am not yet banded but am counting down the days!

The only thing I ever heard about Star was that on Larry King Live, she announced that she had weight-loss surgery for medical reasons. She made it clear that her decision was personal and that in no way did she mislead viewers to thinking she lost weight through eating healthfully and exercising regularly. Hmmm

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Angie38 replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Man, they weighed me in the office today and I guess that my home scale is a bit off. Rats! Oh well, guess that is all about to change anyways. You know what else? My husband came with me today and actually heard what I weigh.:embarassed: It's not that he doesn't know that I am fat, (really!) he just really never knew the exact amount. I'll live! Can't wait! :clap2: ****************************************** Woofay, I know what you mean! I have only been married a little over a year (second husband) although we were dating four years before, and I believe he is having a hard time with me spending so much money on something he does not quite feel is necessary. He has not come right out and said that but he has made comments. He was all ready to come to my doctors appointment with me but at the last minute I made up some excuse why he didnt need to come, for fear that he woudl hear much I weigh. Isn't that dumb? I am married to him, maybe if he would have came he would have said, "yep honey you need the surgery". Instead my 19 year old daughter came with me. She was much more reassuring to me that I was doing the right thing, and she felt better about me having the surgery once she heard what Dr. K had to say. Anyway long story short... I know how you feel since I truly avoided my husband coming with me. I am glad that I am not alone in feeling that way. As it gets closer to banding day I get more and more excited! We will have to keep in touch. Are you planning on going to any of the support group meetings? I weighed more on Dr. K's scale too. -

Hi everyone... I am still preband! I want to be banded so dang bad! Well anyway I am scheduled with Dr Ortiz on April 2, but then i was reading on these great posts about a Dr in Denver who only charges a tab bit more (self-pay). So I scheduled a consultation with him for March 20... I wish that day would hurry up and get here! Brenda, Did you gain weight back after you were banded? Is that possible? I thought that once we reached goal weight that our band was adjusted and that is where we stay to maintain? I am so afraid that I am going to do this and gain weight back or worse not lose! Help!!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Angie38 replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
What is funny to me is that I live in Colorado Springs which is about an hour from Denver/Aurora and I had no idea there was a lap band suregon that close to me. I did a search on doctors and found another doctor in Denver that does the surgery but would not see me because I did not meet their requirements. I scheduled a surgery date with Dr Ortiz in Mexico for April 2. I have been so looking forward to that date and then I was reading a post and heard about this Dr in Denver who does not charge that much more then in Mexico... clicked on link, and it was Dr. K so I called and he will see me and do the consult and sees no reason why he can't do the surgery on me! yippee! My problem with the other doctor was that my BMI was high enough at 35 but I had no other factors. Anyway I have a consult on 20 March which still gives me enough time to either go through with the surgery in Mexico or get a little more money together and have surgery here in my own "neck of the woods" where the fills are practically free!! :clap2: -

I think you have found a great place to get support! I can not think of a better place to discuss your concerns then with the folks that have gone through it. Good luck with DH.

My worst fear has come true.....my band has slipped
Angie38 replied to KatzGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so sorry to hear about your band! I know everything will work out for you as you have come so far! -
Commenter: girlinnychow high IS your BMI?? My BMI is 34.
-
Audree, You finally weighed yourself! I have been waiting for you to weigh! Yipee on the solids! Looks like they are working for you and that you are actually eating good stuff. Yippee! :hungry:
-
Today I am feeling blue! I have applied for financing and am not getting a response! I am almost 99% sure my insurance will not cover surgery b/c I do not have a high enough BMI and no risk factors. I am getting discouraged and the longer I wait the guiltier I feel about all the “other” things I can spend the money (if I ever get it) on. My husband is supportive one minute and then tells me all the reasons I need to be more patient and wait until we can really afford it the next minute. Has anyone else ever been through this? Then I read about some folks who have only lost 20lbs in 8 months… good grief… then the “what if’s” come. I wish I could have the surgery today and get it over with. I am not patient and don’t want to keep waiting. :scared:
-
So you wouldn't recommend it for a "Dr. K's LapBand reunion party"?? Tee hee.. Thanks for the info! I am sure we'll just go to get pictures or something. We have to make a few of our friends jealous....01-16-2007 09:35 PM I agree, the food at Casa Bonita stinks but since you and your husband have the inside joke on it you should go! DrewsLou is right the only thing good is the sopapillas so I suggest you go and order the cheapest thing on the menu (you have to order) and stay for the fun. It really is an awesome place to go and check everything out. Also why you are in Denver go to 16th street and take the carriage ride at night. That is awesome as well! Have fun!

Hi everyone, I am considering the lap band. Your posts are a great encouragement to me. I haven't actually made the call yet :phanvan but I did see some posts from someone in Pueblo, CO. I am in Colorado Springs and would like someone to hold my hand and let me know everything that I need to do. I know, what a baby :think ! I have been researching -- I am also not sure that my insurance will cover it, I have Kaiser does anyone else have Kaiser and have they covered it? If so, what were the conditions? What are the conditions if you pay out of pocket? Any help would be great, I have a million questions as I am sure you all did! Thanks for any help you can give me!
