    Phentermine?

I was on phentermine for quite awhile and when talking about lapband with my pcp (presurgery) she said it would be fine to take it after surgery until I get to my sweet spot.

    Sleep apnea and Lap band

From what my doctor said, losing weight helps or even cures most cases of sleep apnea. It all really depends on why you have sleep apnea. Is it strictly weight related or is there a defect with your airway? To give an example, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, machine set at 17 (high). I had a rough preop period for unrelated reasons (they found a mass in my stomach during first preop tests on 2010, nothing to worry about thankfully!) so through the time I waited for surgery, I worked and worked and actually lost 76 pounds. I will tell you that I sleep wonderful now. I haven't had a second sleep study and I no longer sleep with cpap which are huge no-no's. Sleep apnea doctor told me with every 20 pound weight loss, you need a new study. I'm being rebellious I guess but I do not recommend it! Call your sleep apnea doctor, let them know about your journey and see what point you should come in for another sleep study. Congratulations and best of luck to you!
  5. Very inspiring for the newly banded! Sounds like you've done really great! I'm only a week and a half post op And currently in bandster hell, but this helps reassure me that it can and will happen! congratulations!
  6. It's different for everyone. I've considered myself a very fast healer from this surgery. I was banded May 11th and the first day went great. I was only at the hospital 6 hours. The worst part the first day was my sore throat because they had problems intubating me. The second day wasn't as good. My bariatric team makes next day follow up calls, I told them I was very sore and they explained all of the discomfort and anesthesia medicine they give you wears off and you really FEEL it. The next day, I felt tons better in my belly and even drove (Dr said it was fine after 24 hours). However, I was plagued with the dreaded gas pain in the shoulder and in my neck. That part sucked but the tummy pain diminished much much quicker than I expected! I went back to work 3 days post op with no issues. I have a desk job though, I can imagine it'd be difficult for someone with a physical job. Just remember to walk as often as possible but don't over do it. If you become really concerned, don't hesitate to call your surgeon! That is what we pay them for after all Good luck to you and congratulations!

    Is your port area sore?

I'm a week and a half post op and definitely still have some soreness in the port area, but only when I move a certain way or put pressure there. You're fine I'm sure. If the pain is too severe (more than a strained muscle type pain), it never hurts to ask your surgeon or bariatric team. Good luck, hope you feel better soon!
