I was banded Nov 15, 2010 and had success for 11 months! I was down 60 pounds and felt fabulous that I could achieve success on this journey! What changed? My stress level was a definite change. When I worry I internalize my feelings and in turn I have found that I caused anxiety! This anxiety for some reason tightens my band to the point where I can't eat, drink or lay down to sleep. It has caused me to be out of work sick or leave work in excruciating pain to head to the ER. I have had my band unfilled 6 times over the last 16 months. To date my band has been empty since the last unfill on March 10, 2013. I have even talked to my surgeon about a revision but my insurance company will not pay for it unless there is a failure with the band. So the bottom line is how do I get back on track with my band and reduce these episodes which I turn will help me lose weight. I have gained back 25 pounds in the last 9 months. I look back at where I was three years ago and my eating habits have not reverted back. I work out at the gym and meet with my trainer on a weekly basis. My food consumption used to include multiples cans of Coke and Wendy's drive thru. Any of those things make me sick and I can't stand them. Please help me figure out what to do. My doctor has never come across this and I am not sure he believes me that the anxiety & stress is the cause of these episodes. Just ask my family....they have witnessed it and my daughter was amazed the first time in the ER of how quick the unfill relieves all the pain etc. Thanks for listening and I hope to hear from this supportive community soon!!! Today I had a fill of 3cc!! It was empty for 3.5 months & I hope this is the jump start I need. I don't think my dr believes the stress/anxiety restricts it. I am going to make this work because I need it to. There are no other options. I have my Xanax for now but hopefully my family dr can prescribe something else due to the side effects. Thank you to everyone for your support!! -

What's Is Your November Bandiversary Date And Progress?

I did try for a revision but was turned down by my insurance company because the band hasn't failed or slipped. So either I make this work or I have nothing to work with. -
What's Is Your November Bandiversary Date And Progress?

I was banded November 15, 2010. I did well for 6 months but then started to have problems keeping my band tight enough. As I had it filled, then I had episodes where it was extremely tight & had to be unfilled completely. I lost 60 pounds but have gained 25 back. My band has been empty for 3.5 months. I just want to have success like everyone else!!!! -
He used the same doctor that Rex Ryan (NY jets coach) used. I live in PA & I really like Gov Christie. I hope he does well.

I wanted to have mine out so I could do the revision but my insurance won't cover another procedure unless the dr can prove there was a medical failure with the band. I am terrified to go without anything.

I have the Realize band and have had at the most 7cc in it. The last time we unfilled it had 4cc. I know that isn't tight enough for me. I have been working with a therapist since Jan so maybe this will help my next fill which is on Thursday. Hopefully he starts at 2cc Thanks for all your support. I have felt very frustrated & alone with these issues so I decided to turn to the boards where we all have bands. Stacy -

The doctor ordered a barium swallow when this problem started because he thought there was a slip but everything looked fine. He would like to proceed with a fill under fluoroscopy. -

I got banded on Nov 15, 2010 and was doing well until May 2011. I had a piece of food stuck and developed pneumonia within a few days after this incident. In early June, I developed severe acid reflux and had to have all the fluid in my band. We gradually re-filled the band. However, this acid reflux issue has occurred at least four more times. This past incident (10/26/12) was so painful that I was rushed to the ER & waited several hours until my surgeon was out of surgery. On November 7th I had a hysterectomy and didn't have any fluid put back in my band until 12/20/12. So far as of today (2/18/13) I have 4ccs and barely feels any restriction. I have gained 15 pounds since my hysterectomy and experiencing mood swings which I am now on Xanax. I am always the person encouraging others with the band that they can do this and help them through plateaus. Two of my friends have both lost 100 pounds and now weight less than me. I have only lost 50 pounds since my band surgery. -
Cazzy that is an inspiration to those of us that get frustrated. I know it's possible so I will keep plugging away. Stacy
