any one from windsor, Ontario or the surrounding areas?
chef neil replied to italianlady13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Windsor , California Hi -
hi- I have been like that too. my meals are small and bland. I have been doing shakes then yogurt just to get by, and dinners- are my worst, my vomiting has stopped, or have I become more in tune with my body, and know when to stop? digesting after each meal is important, and I seem to burp a lot and occasionaly get hiccups...

I do have to have a pregnancy blood test, lol. I never got one either... I had to sign twice stating I was not, nor will become... what if...

Jealous I am... I ate 3 bbq chicken wings last night... that was my big woow... today I had to go to work... first day back... breakfast was my shake- couldn't drink all before work- finished on my break, then wasn't hungry for lunch... drank a quart of G-2...(during work) now I am enjoying a decaf NF latte... I'm about 300 calories for the day- dinner no hope of eating more than 3 bites...

Hi- I'm almost 6 weeks out... Dr. told me wait... wait...wait... however- while making chili, I swigged the beer... then was out in my cellar, just had to test two of my wines... not making a habit out of it... but yea- I gave in... I have 30 something types of wine awaiting taste and adjust... They need to be bottled before harvest this year... unless some one helps me... yea- gonna taste a li'l more... my advice- take it slow- and if it stays down, you lucked out...

sounds like fun... are you sure it was fake JD? I'll share this with you... My wife one day after surgery, noticed that her weight on her DL is now not correct. for years she has always under estimated.. (you gals know why) anyways- one day she busted out laughing... she is under the weight, first time...

hi- I likes my coffee, I however do do decaf. BEEN STRICT ABOUT THAT AS SOON AS I STARTED PRE-OP. my cunfusion is- we are not supposed to drink with meals, and we are not supposed to drink calorie filled drinks between meals... (even the milk in my latte that has precious protein) SO WHEN CAN I HAVE MY DECAF, NF LATTE???

went in Monday- was released on wed. my wife was held the extra day too.. it all depends on how your body deals with the drugs, and accepting food.

FLYING after surgery
chef neil replied to bxmama2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi- as Nice as losing weight is, and I know you are feeling Great... One should not fly... take a plane, car or bus... the stress on your arms would be tremendous.. just saying, at least mine would... stockings... those wonderful things... yes you need to make sure they fit right and absolutely no creases... using rubber gloves with fingerprints (dish gloves) smooth them babbys out, before and if you have to after an hour pull them up and make sure they are smooth again... (I know- been wearing 40mg. for 12 years I tossed all mine out, they didn't fit after surgery, I will not wear them again! -

am 3lbs below my pre-surgery goal weight and I've lost 30 lbs!... You deserve a pat on the back- (consider it done from me) I went to the drop in follow up class with a Dr. and a NUt. and a therapist. gonna get some blood work done, and do what the Nut. said- and hope that the dizziness goes away. -
What is this thing of males afraid to get snipped.. Hi- Man HERE! afraid? no! was it uncomfortable- YES! mainly the embarrassment of the nurse handling the goods and the expected response, even in a cold office. (thinking back- not any worse than the colonoscopy before surgery) cost was less than the alternatives... recovery- pain 1 day, stretched it out to a week off the up side- wife has been hormone free and back to normalcy... BCP really made her pmsY more times than not. was in and out in one hour, maybe less... wife made me walk home (kidding) My advice to all married ladies here- get the Main Man in to chat with the doc. seriously a li'l snip is better than anything!

Just a note: chicken breast has more Protein than chicken thigh. also the thigh has more fat (why it is yummie and moist) you may want to consider that, when planning your meals. Bon- Appetite!

Have you run the nutritional info No. beside the fat in the beef, I used 1 tsp EVOO to help brown the meat... there is no salt added, no thickeners... lots of veg. as far as WLS- it's all good-

Hi- I wanted to share my quick chili recipe... I know we all have one, however maybe this will make you grab your recipe and make a batch... I boiled up 3 dried new Mexico chilies and let them steep.then I pureed and strained them.next I took steak , cut into small cubes and browned it with a li'l EVOO, diced onion and a big spoon of fresh garlic. while it was browning, I added my all purpose BBQ spice, extra oregano and ground cumin. when the spices were well cooked in, I added 2/3 bottle long board lager, brought to a boil and then added the chili tea. it is now simmering away....when meat is tender I will add: 1 can chopped green chilies 1 can diced tomato 1 can rinsed black Beans 1 can rinsed red beans then let simmer another hour or so...taste for seasoning correction and adjust... (no seasoning correction required) no salt added... finished with juice from a fresh squeezed lime. ( I have no cilantro.. I like fresh chopped cilantro added a few minutes before service)

Hi-I have been out 6 weeks... lost 3 sizes since surgery... I told them- it was GI surgery... (kept it generally) one person knows- hoping she keeps quiet- but no big deal if she doesn't... it's done... it happened... FMLA protects us... I personally didn't tell people the story- one will say something and another will blow it out of proportion... next thing ya know I had cancer... the thing is- when people ask me to taste something I will decline... some take it personally, at this point 3 tastes is my meal... can you work feeling stuffed like that? I can't.. I am gonna work on a transfer soon anyways... I want to be far away from food as possible!

Nausea? Vomitting?
chef neil replied to Sleeved_4.3.13's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi- at first it was from the surgery... three days later, soft foods, I was fine and then stage III was a set back... I went back to stage II for a week, then started with stage III again... no more nausea or vomiting but some things, like chicken, is hard to eat... tonight 4 bites of chicken... 2 bites of potato... these are small bites... the amount I eat, pretty much the size of my thumb... if it is softer foods- yogurt, cottage cheese... 1/2 cup still... -
Meg- this was the smallest batch I ever made I plan on shipping it home with my son...if he wasn't coming over today, I would make small cups of it and freeze it. the plastic ones with blue lids from glad bags(?) perfect size for one or two... the Protein must be super high, my wife made a burger patty, and topped it with chili... she only ate half... AS FAR AS TOFU... there is a product called "soyrizo" other than being high in sodium, I like it- spicey and great for adding spice... I will make a chili with Beans and soyrizo for my buddy that is vegan when he comes to town.
-
Texas Mom... I was waiting for ya to say- "real chili doesn't have beans" I'm getting slammed on another forum for that... Hey I am California through and through.... lucky I didn't make it with tofu it was good- however not sure why, only a 1/2 cup went down... Oh-well-

I have done a lot of study on the healing powers of cayenne. Ulcers and other problems resolved by upping the intake of high Capsaicin type foods. Doesn't have to be cayenne - can be jalapeno, habanero... tobasco. anything with some heat. if your interested google < healing powers of Capsaicin>

~ Not Sure What To Do
chef neil replied to Samantha~Leibold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi- Everyone is different, and each of us made that decision for a reason... My wife is a RnY, I am a sleeve... we are achieving great results- by following the program. No matter what program you choose- the effectiveness will depend on how you embrace that program... why do people gain that weight back? they simply don't follow the program... The surgery is for life... big decision... I took that in the same light as I took the oath of marriage... for life! Vitamins for life... restrictions for life, be it a type of food or the amount... in turn I am getting/staying healthy and hopefully live longer. I am 50 years old... At 36, you have some things going for you... Youth... a lot less mental and physical issues... I am so glad you came here to think about things...May you find YOUR path and have the life you want... Fear Not! your body is adjusting... Mine has done some weird things- I walked and done some water aerobics and was on a 5 day plateau - then I started getting dizzy and spent 2 days doing nothing... and I lost a pound aday... ??? Change up something, exercise, your water intake, type of food... then sit back and watch the weight come off...
