  1. See my note...I HAD AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH HIM!
  2. I am very glad you had such a wonderful experience with him. Unfortunately I had the complete opposite back in 2004/5 and actively tell people not to see him. His staff was completely unattentive, and actually dismissive to my post op calls regarding pain. And both myself and my mother had to have our bands removed, bands placed by him. Mine eroded 100% through my lining and my mother's slipped so far that removal was the only option. While these are warned side effects, the doctor's care, or lack there off, particularly after my removal when I had a terrible infection and he completely ignored my presence, leads me to believe he placed the band incorrectly in my stomach.I was later informed that the band was in fact POSTITIONED INCORRECTLY! I had such an awful overall experience with Dr. Cuneen and his office. He caused me years of emotional strife (blaming me for my erosion, that I was not eating well, and told me that I almost died because of my fatty liver ) It took me 6 years to get up the courageto seek out a new doctor who told me that nothing I did was wrong and that I did not almost die.. After both my Mother and I had our bands removed, my father threatened to seek legal action and the office refused to return his calls. A few month later, my mother an father were at Cedars for a non-band related issue, and Dr. Scott Cuneen stepped into the same elevator as my parents. He kept his head down, eyes on the ground and acted as if he did not see my mother and father. He was a coward and obviously embarassed by how he had behaved and treated my family. .I recently did get banded again and have learned that not all surgeons have the kind of non-existent bed side manner and "factoy-like"run office as Cuneen. Maybe he has learned and grownup since then, and again, I am glad that you had such a positive experience with him, but if it were me, I would say never see Dr. Scott Cunneen. Moreover, avoid Cedar Sinair Bariatric Group at all costs.
  3. Ok, I'm really glad to hear that other people are having pain at the port sight (well not glad but comforted to know I'm not alone). My surgery was about 2 weeks ago and I feel great except when I bend over or sit for too long I start to get pain along my port site (which is under my left rib). I keep forgetting I had surgery and I am very worred that I have done something to dislodge, move, unstich my port. I had the band put in in 2005 but it eroded through the stomach so I ahd to have it remeoved. So now I am super scared that everythign I do will lead to a problem. About how long does the port site/stomach pain when I bend over last? Any ideas about how tokeep the pain down?
  4. So hello....The long and short of my arrival...I am getting banded for the second time this coming Wed. I first got banded in 2004 but it eroded and came out only 5 months later. I swore I'd never haver surgery again (like any kind of surgery, like never walk into a hospital again) let alone get banded again but the truth of the matter is, I have hit the bottom. Or rather, I feel the botom skimming against my toes and I don't like the way the goo and guck of the bottom feels--I am terrified of what hitting it will feel like if I hate the way my toes feel touching it. Anywho, my surgery is this coming Wednesday. I'm really nervous...to get surgery again, to not know whether for sure I'm getting banded or if there will be too much scar tissue and I will have to get the bypass (the doctor won't know until he gets in ther). And I'm scared that I will screw this up. I have screwed up so many diets and attempts at "change of life" and this has to be different. Im not usually good at reaching out or asking for help; I'm the girl who helps everyone else out, but I'm here because I know I wil not be able to get through this alone. I am grateful tha a site like this exists and that there are so many people out there to talk with. In addition to introducing mysyelf, I was wondering if anyone here has a good suggestion for a book on lfe after banding/surgery. I've seen alot of books out there but I don't know which to get. I have been told the cook book Eating Wel After Weight Loss Surgery is great. But I'm talking more about a book like the posts you all write or someone's story that has inspired you. I look forward to chatting with you all and leaning and being lent on. My best and thanks for having me in the group! SWizard
