Starting my first fast today on the 5.2 Diet Plan! Questions.
sarsar replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I'm with you! I'm starting my first fast day tomorrow, too. I have played around with 5:2 on and off for a couple of months but have not fully committed to it. After reading about all of these success stories I am going to give it a go! I have been happy where I'm at but lately have really wanted to lose a little more. I have a question for all of the 5:2 peeps out there. Would anybody be willing to write up what they eat on a feast day and then what they eat on a fast day along with the times you eat? I know this is asking a lot but I would appreciate it if someone would take the time to do this for me. It makes much more sense to me to actually see it written out than to just read about how I am supposed to eat. Over the last few months I have read the different links that have been posted but I would love to see this from a sleevers point of view. -
The one I drink every morning is: 1/2 cup skim milk 1/2 cup Water 2 scoops click Protein powder 2 Tbs Flax seed (don't use this if you are early out) 2 big handfuls spinach A couple ice cubes I also enjoy one with peanut butter: 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup water 2 Tbs PB2 1/2 frozen banana 1 scoop chocolate or vanilla protein powder 2 big handfuls spinach I make some other ones too but those are the main ones I enjoy.

I had this problem for the first year, maybe a little longer. A lot of people seem to have this issue for a while after surgery, but from what I have read it usually goes away. I drink plain water just fine now. Seems odd that this would happen so far out. Did you have problems drinking it right after surgery?

Unbelievable charge for VSG to my insurance
sarsar replied to Bridget312001's topic in Insurance & Financing
That seems like a crazy amount to charge the insurance company. Did you ask the insurance companies why they paid so much? Curious to know what the doctors office said when you told them you won't be paying the $2500... -
Should have read the comments before I left my own. Great minds think alike!

When you lose more weight it should get better. I suggest stretching. I am a huge believer in stretching and it has helped me tremendously. I had a trainer that got me hooked on stretching when I was heavy and I still do it to this day. Also, foam rolling is wonderful in addition to stretching.

Same for me. It really hurts if I try to drink something after I eat. It's about 45 minutes before I can drink after eating.

Does anything know about death in Mexico.
sarsar replied to tampa's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I hope this isn't true! Dr. Aceves was my doctor and I have always had a deep respect for him and his team. This is just terrible. I am disgusted and angered that this has happened. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Rox. -
Personally, I would rather have a small amount of full fat cheese and a small amount of full fat sour cream instead of fat free. The fat free foods are usually higher in sugar. The fat is removed and the sugar is added for flavor. I love nachos and can eat a few of them at a time. I eat a few chips topped with mostly Protein (meat or chicken), Beans, and pico . The cheese and sour cream are such a small amount that I want the real thing! How nice of you to take such good care of your wife!

Suggestion for the vets forum
sarsar replied to Butterthebean's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
So are you saying that you think a vet should be a year out to post a topic in the vet forum but anyone, vet or newbie, should be able to respond to the threads in the vet forum? -
Beautiful. How fun! I wish we had mountains around here. Isn't it fun being fit and active?

Suggestion for the vets forum
sarsar replied to Butterthebean's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I'm with BtB on vets being a year out. I love the vets board, glad we have it! I would rather newbies post questions for us on the general board rather than the vets board. That thread that Pdx posted has a opinions from a bunch of vets. -
I bet. It's probably going to be sore for a while! Don't laugh, well, you can laugh if you want, but when I was heavy I rode this: http://www.rehabmart...ycle-26771.html (Hey, at least I was getting exercise) My husband and I would go for long rides and this bike is so comfortable to ride. I love it. Do not try mountain biking with this. This year I bought a regular bike since I am at a normal weight now I figured I can ride a regular bike. Ouch, the first time I rode my butt was sore for weeks! Those seats hurt! The recumbent bike is much more comfortable, I wish I was brave enough to put up my before picture of me on my recumbent bike...wow!

Hahaha! It really is a good partner stretch!

You could try this! I wonder if it really works... http://www.amazon.com/Instant-Face-Neck-Lift-Dark/dp/B004BVYT2Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377049165&sr=8-1&keywords=facelift+tape

If I eat too much or too fast this happens to me. At the beginning it happened if I ate too much sugar or fat.

One day, maybe just maybe, you will even enjoy the soreness you feel after a workout! I know that's pushing it but you never know it could happen. A really good stretch you can do with your hubs is to lay on your back, keep on leg straight on the floor. Lift the other leg straight up against his chest (he is kneeling on the floor facing you) and have him push it forward. I LOVE this stretch, you should feel it in the back of your legs and glutes. Breath while you are stretching and you will get a better stretch. Usually when it starts to hurt we want to stop breathing and tense up if you breath through it you will stretch farther. Also, stretch your arms and chest. You are probably going to feel soreness there tomorrow from being tense while you were riding. Ok, I'm done now!

Wait a second....did I read that correctly....you had fun???? Exercising???? Congrats! That is awesome! I suggest doing some stretches for your legs and glutes, even though it will probably hurt it will help.

Hang in there, the weight loss will start up again. My first stall was 5.5 weeks!

(Fiddle, hope you don't mind if I jump in and ask another question related to Protein bars.) Where do you all buy your Protein Bars? I was looking around online and found that http://www.supplementwarehouse.com/ has great deals on protein bars and other things, too. The Quest bars that I normally buy are a few dollars cheaper than I usually pay. I found out there is a store in my area so I am going to check it out. This company also guarantees the cheapest price and if you find something cheaper they will give you 5% off of the price.

Best shoes for walking/ running and best for areobics?
sarsar replied to Bos123's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Nope, you aren't the only one! I have 2 pair of Vibrams...love them! They are so comfortable. I love to use them or go barefoot for my regular workouts. -
I have read that for a lot of vets these bars are sliders. I'm glad they aren't for me, there are enough foods that are! I always figured that the fiber in the bars is what fills me up. I have tried Power Crunch bars and those don't fill me up at all. They are more like a wafer cookie and those slide right through my sleeve. They taste good but I don't eat them very often.

That is so disgusting! Wow, I don't even know what to say.
