I am almost 1-year out and have 7cc in my 10cc band. The last few fills gave me really great restriction, but after a couple of weeks, it looses back up and I don't stay full between meals. My question is, at what point do you have permanant restriction and not need frequest fills?? I am concerned about maxing out my band! Ron -
George Bush: Worst American president in history
Ron Cusano replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
Iraq was a major threat to the stability of the Middle East, the flow of oil to our country and was a safe haven for terrorist training camps. Sadam committed genocide against his own people, was unstable and a terrorist to his own country. The best intelligence available indicated that he was producing weapons of mass destruction and had nucular ambitions. He had previously used chemical weapons against the Kurds, and there was not reason not to believe that he was stockpileing these weapons and could make them available to our enemys. The fact that these weapons were not located is of little consequence since he had ample time to export them to another Arab neighbor. This intelligence not only came from the CIA, but from the British and other western governments. Regardless of weather or not he was connected directly to 911, he needed to be dealt with. Fortunately for us, President Bush took descisive action, and has managed to keep the war on terror away from our shores. I had a discussion with a person who is part of a government agency that tracks and exposes terrorists within our country, and from his professional experience and based upon the facts he works with, the policys in place now, under Bush, are directly responsible for the prevention of attacks here at home. Those who are so overwhelmed and possessed with their hatred for Prrsident Bush and the Liberal Socialist agenda, have their heads up their butts and have lost touch with politically reality with regard to the terrorist threat against out country. Perhaps if they were to actually support their own nation and government, we would only have to deal with one enemy. -

I see you have set yourself up as a kind of wacky, radical "Judge Judy" here and have appointed yourself as the judge of everyone's thoughts and opinions, with a new-found toilet tongue and sewer mouth. Seems to me that since you don't seem to have anything of value to contribute to the topic, you delight in name calling and putting yourself up on a pedastel. Now you are even refering to yourseld in the third person as if that impresses anyone. I for one, and I am sure that I am not alone, don't have the slightest idea what you are trying to say. -

George Bush: Worst American president in history

Green, You just made three lengthly posts and said absolutely nothing! So what else is new. These people don't need technology to cause terror. They blow themselves up in crowds of innocent people, plant roadside bombs, fly plane into buildings and will do anything to kill all they can. Since you seem to take so kindly to them, maybe you wouldn't mind if they start in your town! And it's too bad that we irritate poor Green because it doesn't like someones grammar. I mean, some of his post sound like they are coming from a drunk falling off a bar room stool, but he must be politically correct now, and not point that out!! -

I could not agree with you more! The Liberals are so blinded by their raw hatred for President Bush that they have lost sight of the reality of what's going on in the world today. The war on terror is against religious fanatics that believe they must kill and destroy any non-muslims that won't embrace Islam. Their blind hatred for Israel, the US and all "People of the Book" will only be satisfied with our blood. As you said, if we are not fighting them in their own backyard, you will see blood running in our streets and Malls. They can think what they want about President Bush, but he had the guts to take the fight to them where they live, and we havn't experienced a single major attack on our homeland since 911 under his watch. God help us is we have a Hillary Clinton (Bill in a skirt) or a Nancy Pelosy at the helm when the next wave comes. We could have camels in the Thanksgiving Day parade, and the women will be wearing birka's! -
I am mearly pointing out that there are other views, and some of the other links that I mentioned are indeed from respected scientists. I don't believe this is a clear cut issue at this point in time - either way!
-
A lot of the comments I see in the media and hear from people seem to be advocating panic. I have heard talk about the ice caps melting and destroying cities, wiping out various species of wildlife, etc. I personally think that is all very, very premature and unwarrented. That's just my opinion. Here is another viewpoint on global warming - http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,220341,00.html It was conducted by Danish researchers and reported on Fox News. They conclude - " So although it has been taken for granted by global warming alarmists that human activity has caused the climate to warm, Svensmark’s study strongly challenges this assumption." Here is yet another opinion by Gary Novak, a biologist - http://www.nov55.com/gbwm.html The cause of global warming is by no means proven and established, and contrary to what a recent poster claimed, there is indeed much objection from withing the scientific community to the theory that man-made greenhouse gasses are the cause.
-
I did misread that particular article, but I also offered links to several other articles by scientists that did agree with the same viewpoints as those expressed by the gentleman that wished to debate Al Gore. I got the impression that this person was not mearly someone "who wrote a few essays" as you put it, but rather someone who was quite knowledgeable on the subject. There is no "party line" here, only a difference of opinion between scientists and schools of thought. There was no "spreading untruths or skewed ideology" as you claim, only a misunderstanding with regard to the writers credentials. Nevertheless, his argument seems to have merit and is supported by some in the scientific community. Therefore, I consider it worthy of consideration before we go into a blind panic.
-
Putting politics aside, which is a whole other subject, as I have said all along, there is no argument from me that we are seeing global warming. If it is man-made there is cause for alarm, but if it is a natural cycle, not only is there no cause for alarm, but there is likely nothing man can do about it. What you said about lessening our dependancy on foreign oil and cleaning up our act concerning the enviroment, I wholeheartedly agree with. It is the right and responsible thing to do. Also putting aside the "do-gooder antics of the Hollywoodite types" as you describe them, I think the jury is still out regarding the cause of global warming and i think it is way premature to be panicing about it science even the scientists seem to disagree on it's severty.
-
If you had taken the time to actually read my posts instead of making saracstic remarks, you might notice that I never said global warming is a hoax, I just asked the question. You would also notice that I never said we were not experiencing global warming, I merely brought up that there was more than one scientific argument regarding the cause. There happen to be a number of scientists that conclude what man is contributing in emissions in so small as to have no effect globally. And, while leaning in one direction in the argument, I also said I was open minded about it, and just not ready to panic as some are. But it seems like you are more intent on attacking me personally than making any contribution to the discussion. Perhaps you don't have anything meaningful to contribute so you feel the need to be sarcastic. Seems you would rather fight and argue rather that discuss. Sad!

Better sense of humor? No way! I turn everything into a funny! There is nothing I enjoy more than a good laugh, unless it's at my expense!!
-
Well Tom, I don't agree with the writer of that post that the global warming thing is an attempt to take away freedom, but I also don't agree that the goal of the Conservative right is to take away freedom either. Quite the contrary! I think that the "big government" goals of the Liberal left most certainly promote socialism at the expense of individual freedom! But this argument is getting away from the topic on this thread.
-
I don't recall anyone here mentioning Liberals using the issue to take away freedom! Can you explain where you read that?
-
I don't think anyone is saying that conserving fuel and having cleaner air and Water is a bad thing. I think the issue is will it really have an effect on global climate, and weather emmissions could really cause global climate change. Again, it's not clear cut fact as the Liberal politicians would have us think. In my humble opinion, this is a political hot potato that many are using for political and financial gain, which living lifestyles that do not reflect the views they espouse. When I see the Al Gores, John Trovolta's and the like flying commercial airlines, recycling and eating only organicly raised food, while donating some of their fortunes to the cause, then perhaps I could accept that they really believe their own claims.
-
Global warming and the climate changes you just mentioned are documented fact, however, it's implecation is what is in question I think. There are many scientists that point out that the earth has always undergone these warming and cooling cycles with, in many cases, even more dramatic changes that what we see today. The point out that even some positive effects come from global warming cycles, such as an increase of agriculture in areas that cannot sustain agriculture today. So the real question is, is the global warming we are seeing a real crisis or is it a natural occurance as in the past. Again, many scientists point out that man-made contribution to global warming can not, and does not have a significant enough effect to make the least bit of difference on a global scale. I don't know who is right or wrong, but I think we need to keep an open mind and not panic. I am all for organic agriculture. I was an organic farmer for 10 years and have gardened organically for over 40 years. I believe in conserving natural resources and reducing polution, but I for one, am not convinced that what we are seeing if the doomsday senerio being preached by some. I think it's conceivable, and perhaps likely that we are in a natural warming cycle, such as has been documented to have occured since creation of this planet.
-
That is correct! Gore as well as others that embrace that cause, weather the cause is justified or not.
