Maybe you are right!! But it do kind of think He would rather have us agree with His, don't you??
-
So if you can mock fundamentalists and compare them to Taliban, is it OK if I were to mock athiests and compare them to Hitler? Is that acceptable to you??
-
Well, I thank you for that! I honestly do not want or try to be abrasive, but I have a great zeal for what I believe. I also know that you think I am wrong in my beliefs, and thet you would be offended by my saying thet Jesus is the Messiah. I know how your people have been persecuted by people claiming to be Christians, and I am ashamed of them. I can tell you this, any true Christian has adeep love and respect for the Jewish people. Let me share something with you! Thirty plus years ago, it was Jewish women who believed in Jesus as her Messiah that taught me about Him. Since that time, I have learned from and studied under a number of Jewish scolars, some who came from very orthodox and Hasidic backgrounds before coming to their belief in who the Messiah is. I know that the truth of this is contained, not in the New testament, but in Tenach, if you are willing to explore it with an open mind and heart.

I personally do not speak Hebrew, however a number of those that are in my congregation, Beth yeshua, speak it fluently, and I gleam much from them if there are questions on translation. In addition, I use a Strongs Concordance in my studies, that gives the translations of all the words in the Tenakh from the Hebrew root and from the greek root in the New Covenent. I would agree with you that there is much more incite to be gleamed from the Hebrew in which it was written. When you read it, would you consider a serious, civil discussion about it??

You know what, all "non-Christians, non-Whites, non-English speaking, non-straight people" and everyone else are all equal in God's eyes, and He wants all to be saved. There is no majority or minority, only those who believe and those who do not believe.
-
To win souls for Christ, speak TRUTH and defend the faith. Being right for my personal sake isn't even a consideration.
-
Sue, you said - "I don't believe G-d would just change his mind and create a new belief system on the foundation of the old " Then I would encourage you to read your own Hebrew scriptures in the Hebrew prophet Jeremiah 31: 31 - 37, and let's consider YOUR understanding of it after you read it! This whole argument has nothing to do with Bush, politics, seperation of Church and state or the like. You are offended by the things that I said were absolute spiritual truth, were you not?
-
Then allow me to say this to you and to the board . . . I fully accept the right of anyone here to believe or not believe anything they want. I have said that repeatedly, but no one is hearing it. I believe that what I believe is 100% absolute and correct, but I recognize others here do not believe that. I can accept that. What I can't accept is people making disparing, mocking remarks about my faith, because they don't believe it. I am not imaging this because some have openly admitted doing so. You want names, I can give you names!People can call me anything they want, but when they make a mockery out of my God and my faith, I am going to get in their face about it. If during the course of this long, long exchange, I have become overly aggressive, it is because I was offended for my faith. If some feel that I have offended them, I apolige to the group for that, again. I was wrong about a post I made about the moderators, and I also apoligized about that. When I make mistakes, I am not above owning them. If some want to disagree with me about my beliefs, even argue with me and question me about it, I don't have a problem with that. I will respect your "unbelief", but you also need to respect my "belief" and my right to express it freely. It has to be a two-way street.
-
Let me see if I grasp you logic here!! You feel justified in tearing apart Christianity because you can't accept that I believe in it's absolute truth, and am vocal in saying so. But, it's a horrible thing if I quote a Bible verse that infers that people who don't believe in God are fools?? Is that what you are saying??
-
That is nice, and yet, when your Lord and your faith are made a mochery and a joke you are silent. There is a time to bring the message and there is a time to stand up for your faith.
-
I didn't say anything about defending me! I said defend your faith! When people make insulting and disparaging remarks, jokes and comments about Jesus, Christians, the Bible, don't you think you have an obligation to have the backbone to stand up for the faith you claim to embrace??
-
I went back and reread the offensive posts that I though were made by you, and I was wrong. They came from someone else. I appoligize for the "moderator" comment.
-
Yes I do! Perhaps it's time you stood up for your faith when it is attacked.
-
You speak out of both sides of your mouth. The only discord between Christians is what you people have tried so hard to create. It isn't going to work. You are hypocrites and don't have the conviction to admit it. You expect someting of me that you do not expect from yourselves. You don't like hearing the truth, so you attack Christianity. It is so pathetic!
-
What amazes me is someone who professes to be a "Christian" could listen to the taunts and insulting remarkes about the faith and not be offended. You say I get mad?? When someone mocks Jesus, the Bible and my faith, you bet I get mad. The question is, why you don't! You should think about that. The athiests here have gone to great lengths to try of pit Christians against each other, and apparently you are buying into it totally blinded to what is going on here. Shame on you!
-
I am actually laughing because this just proves the truth of Romans chapter 1 and the reprobate mind that comes from supressing the knowledge of God. Praise the Lord!! :clap2:
-
Truth hurts doesn't it! I notice that no one is denying it
-
Isn't it amazing that so many of you proud athiests have such a problem with my "attitude" and how I "say things", but you see nothing wrong with making a mockery out of my faith. You don't like the things that I say, but you can say anything you want! You claim that you don't have a problem with "what" I say, by rather with "how" I say it". You lie through your teeth, and we certainly know who the father of lies is, don't we!! The truth is, you are hypocrites of the worst kind. You can say the most mocking, hurting and insensitive things about God, Jesus and the foundational truths of the Bible, but let me refer to one of you as a "fool", and you go into a blind rage. What a sad lot you are! Sadly, some of the moderators here, who relish the "athiest" title are among the worst of the lot. You know what, you are not going to drive away the few Christians here no matter what you say or how much you try to offend. We're not going anywhere, so rant away!!
-
You know, if you ever posted something serious I would be shocked. As a matter of fact, Jesus healed lepers who, by nature of their disease have missings and rotting parts. Your sarcastic, mindless comments, which are all you apparently are capible of, are not worthy of a reply.
-
And you call ME scary???
-
Because while God can and does heal, He does so in according to His own will and plan. It is not a "guarantee" that God will be at our beck and call to heal whenever we ask. Rather, since we live in a fallen world, as long as we are here, we are subject to how the world is - with sickness, pain and death. By the way, it was not a metaphor, unfortunately it was a true story!
-
Not worthy of a reply!

I certainly agree with you 100% There is an old saying that goes "scripture intrepretes scripture"! There are no contridictions. What may appear to some to be contridictions are usually verses taken out of context or the reader not having a grash on the whole of scripture and it's broad picture and understanding. There is a rule of thumb that Bible scolars use. All scripture is taken as literal, unless it's context clearly indicates otherwise. Then we look to the consistancy of scripture to get an understanding. For example . . . Jesus said, "those who eat my body and drink my blood'. It is obvious from the context that He is not referring to cannibialism, does not have literal meaning, so we look to scripture and context to understand the meaning, which is that we partake in his atoning, substitutionary death as if it was our flesh and blood being offered.
-
Under the Old Covenant dispensation of the Law of Moses, that was certainly the case. You are taking Mark 6:11 out of context. Jesus is directing the Apostles to go forth with the Gospel. Read what He is saying. If they receive you, go in and abide there. If they don't receive you, which is the same as rejecting their message about Jesus, their fate in the Day of Judgement shall be worse that that of Sodom and Gomorrha. That is the price unbelievers pay for rejecting their salvation through Jesus. Jude 1:5 Jude uses the descripting story of Moses leading the Children of Israel out of the wilderness, and the Egyptians that sort to destroy the people of God were destroyed when the Red Sea swallowed them up. He is talking to a church where false teachers were spreading lies and false teachings, and compared this the the Red Sea experience. If you continue one more verse, you will se also likens this to Sodom and Gomorrah also. This is consistant judgement upon unbelief!

Those are great verses! Were you trying to make a point by quoting the?
