My doctor says that after surgery going every 3-4 days will be the norm. I try to drink more water, that always helps.

How can you really tell how much restriction you have?
Ro-Jae327 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 3 weeks post op. When I drink or eat something I can feel it take a little long to go down, but I'm not sure if that's restriction. since I'm still on mushies I can't really tell a whole lot yet. Things just kinda slide through, but I do get full after about 1 cup of food and I have lost 2 lbs in 2 weeks. My appt if on 7/26 to get my first fill. Will I need it then? -
I have to be on " mushies " or soft food for another 2 weeks! I have run out of things to eat. Can anybody give me some ideas or new recipes? Thanks in advance!

Hooray! Way to go. -
Good for you! Everyone should not be so rough on you. It's hard for me at my age, so I know it has to be difficult for you. I am 10 years older than you. Take it easy, eat Protein and drink lots of fluids and you'll be fine.

Pasta, Rice, Potatoes...

Tell me how you lost that much weight in 10 mths. That's great! I wanna be like you. I am pretty strict with the low carb/low sugar/high Protein diet as well. How much exercise do you do? I was banded 6/17. Thanks -

Well then I must need a fill. I stay full for about 2 hrs with 1 cup. Sometimes I eat 1 1/2 cups of food and I can last about an extra 45 to an hr or so. Sometimes I feel really full after I eat and other times I'm still hungry. Thanks! -
I had my surgery on 6/17 too!

Thanks for your responses. I feel better today. But I do think it causes a little discomfort.

Congrats girl! I may take you up on your offer. I was banded 6/17. I've lost 23lbs so far! But I'm sure I'll need a shoulder soon. Keep up the good work. -
Are ALL LapBands stitched in?
Ro-Jae327 replied to Mama Lisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure if they all are but mine is. My Doctor explained that he would attach the port to my stomach muscles. -
I was banded on 6/17 and as you all know, I had to start the protein shakes the next day. So far, I have tried 2: Target brand and Jay Robb. The Jay Robb was better than the Target brand but still gross. Can anyone recommend a great tasting protein shake. Also some really good recipes. Thanks for your advice in advance!

Was banded on 6/17/11. Just wondering when do you really start seeing a consistent weight loss?
-
I do not agree with the comment that Mist made. We go to our doctors and we listen to them because we trust them. If we didn't then we wouldn't have had the surgery with them. Please don't put them down and I think that they do have our best interest at heart. Basically, I think everyone should listen to what our doctors say and follow their plan. They certainly know more than we do. I was banded on 6/17/11 and I am two weeks post op. Just started mushies this week, eating 1/2 cup, as my doctor said. If you eat that and a protein shake in between with maybe 1/2 banana and 1 tbls of lowfat peanut butter, I'm not hungry and I'm still losing weight. I agree it won't work forever but right out surgery is fine. Listen to your doctor.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions! I guess I have a while to be drinking these, so I have some time to experiment. Thanks again! -

banded yesterday with hiatal hernia repair...ouch
Ro-Jae327 replied to tammy49's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 6/17. I too had a Hiatal Hernia repair the same time. I hernia repair was definitely more painful than the band itself. Just get plenty of rest. I had really bad constipation from the Hydrocodone, so be CAREFUL! Only take it when absolutely necessary. Good Luck! -

Average weight loss in first few months
Ro-Jae327 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am getting banded June 24th and just wondering what the average weight loss is the first few months after the surgery. Trying to look descent in a swimsuit before summer is over. -
I would so like to be a pre-op!
Ro-Jae327 replied to Henriikka W.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I voted for you too! Good luck! -
Yes, I was in the beginning as well. I work in an outpatient facility and see patients have general anesthesia and leave to go home feeling great. All shapes and sizes. Since I work at the facility, my procedure is free, so I know I trust these people and i will be safe. But still I have never been under general before, so it's a little scary. You should be fine though.

Ro-Jae327 replied to shootingstar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone, I am so excited and nervous! My Lap Band surgery is on June 24th. Can't wait. I will be starting the Optifast diet 2 weeks before surgery. What's the average weight loss doing that? Anyone know...
