Is everyone truly eating only ONLYone cup of food per sitiing?
Ro-Jae327 replied to 14isabella's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 6/17 and started to eat only a cup of food at a sitting. But still had restriction. 1 cup was really not enough for me after about a month. So I would just stop myself when I hit about 1 1/2 cups of food and just lost that way. I just had my second fill a few days ago and now I really have restriction! But my doctor always told me that he does not want me to measure my food. Because he said that if you eat 1 cup of cream Soup, you will not be full and you have put a lot of empty calories in you. He said that he would rather me eat 3 cups of fish and veggies because that doesn't have many calories and stay full longer. It makes more sense to me that way also. But, I don't measure my food either, It feels like such a diet to me that way. I get discouraged and feel like I can't have anything. So it just works for me. It works better for many people. Keep up the good work and good luck to you! -Rochelle -
My doctor puts 3cc-4cc, depending on what type of band you have. I have an AP Standard so I got 3.4cc. My second fill was yesterday and she gave me 1.4cc. So now I am at 4.8cc total in my band. I had a little restriction but felt that I needed more. So they really listen to me there. That's how it should be. They decide how much to put depending on how comfortable the patient is. Good luck!

Wow. Amazing! Good for you. I honestly felt the same way. I was at a really low point about 4 years ago when I couldnt get on a roller coaster ride. I had to get off too. How embarrassing! but that didn't stop me from eating! Am looking forward to taking my son next spring when he's 2!

Wow! Good luck to you. I was totally freaked out at first, but was super excited about changing my life. I have lots of family and friends that no nothing about the procedure so I too was on my own, so I know how you feel. I also have a 16 month old that I basically take care of on my own. He keeps me going. I think that you have to be a strong person to go through this. It sounds like you already are considering what you have gone through and continue to go through. You will be happy with your decision. I will tell you that it takes time. So please be patient. Remember take it one day at a time. I have to tell myself that everyday. -Rochelle

Great! thanks for the advice. My 16 month old loves to be outside, so walking is great, weather permitting.

No weight loss for 2 weeks :(
Ro-Jae327 replied to rowekins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I agree with Jen. I wasn't losing because I wasn't eating enough. Me too about 700-800 calories a day. Now I am eating 1000 cal a day and I have been able to lose 3-4lbs a week. Definitely recommend eating more. Good luck! -
Would you do the Lap Band Surgery again?
Ro-Jae327 replied to CharmaneFischer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Most definitely! Wish I had done it sooner! -
You are doing an excellent job! Keep it up. I know it's hard because that's your Dr and you should be listening to them and following whatever they say. I was banded 6/17 and I have yet to start exercising! I have a 16 month old and of course I work full time so I know how you feel. I have lost 28lbs so far so I guess I'm doing something right. So are you. Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to you! I feel the same. I stepped on the scale this a.m. and it said 242. I was 270 one week prior to surgery on 6/17/11. It feels good doesn't it?

There is a multivitamin called Slice of Life. They are gummies and are really good. I have only been able to find them at the Vitamin shoppe. Hope this helps.

Wow! That is crazy! and a miracle. Good luck to you

Yes, I agree with Janiece. Enjoy it girl, because it will slow down . I was banded 6/17/11 and had lost 21 lbs in 2 weeks. My weight loss has slowed down but at least I'm losing. Good luck!

I was banded on 6/17/11 and trust me we ALL feel the same way. I was so extremely nervous, it was ridiculous! At one point I wasn't even sure if I was making the best decision. But I have lost 27lbs since and I am loving it! You will too. I don't think you would have come this far if you were not making the best choice for you. So be happy and good luck! Keep me posted.

I had my first fill yesterday 7/26 and I can tell there is a little more restriction. Still on liquids until tomorrow though. When I drink water, I can tell it takes another second for it to go down so it's better. I'm kinda nervous to have food. I hope I don't get stuck. I haven't gotten stuck or vomitted since I had surgery on 6/17. Any advice?

No not at all. I was expecting more. It was done in like 2 minutes. I am still numb from my surgery I think because I still can't feel anything around the port incision. I have already lost 2lbs since tuesday! Exciting! Good luck

Inches gone but no weight loss, how can this be?
Ro-Jae327 replied to Amanda1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I kinda feel the same way. I was banded on 6/17/11 and have lost a total of 24lbs. But i have gone down from a size 22 to 18. I look and feel like I have lost a lot of inches. In the last 4 weeks I have lost 5lbs, so coming off slow but I feel great! Keep up the good work! -
I get my first fill tomorrow 7/26/2011. I am so nervous and excited! I don't really know what to expect....I know it's done the standard way and I will get 3cc's. Can anybody tell me what to expect, what it will feel like and what I need to do (as far as food) immediately after? Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much for your response. I feel a little better. The PA is also doing my fill, so I am just worried that she won't get it the first stick. But we'll see. I hope I can get 4cc's if I need it. Thanks again!

I know, this may be a stupid question. But how long should you wait to have sex after surgery. I'm afraid that i may have moved my port. I am 2 1/2 weeks post op. Just a little discomfort but no sharp pain. Help!
-
I was banded on 6/17 and lost a total of 21 lbs from pre op diet to 1 week after surgery. I am 4 weeks post op and have noticed a 2 lb weight gain in the past 2 weeks. Why is this? I gained weight moving from liquid phase to mushie phase. It's Frustrating! When do I really start losing?
-
I was banded 6/17 and have lost 22 lbs. I have a co-worker who always makes comments like, " you have to drink that? Yuck! that's gross" or " Is that all you can have roday" . I know its a little jealousy. But it's ok. As our bodies change, our personalities don't. You still are the same person, just smaller. Good luck on your journey!

Thanks for your advice. It's hard but I can be patient.

I was in the same boat. I had my surgery 6/17, lost 11 lbs week before surgery and i lost 11 more lbs the week after surgery. Now only about 1-2 lbs loss since then. It is frustrating but I'm looking forward to my fill on 7/26 and exercising! Good Luck!
